Yesterday, as my hubby and I were taking our grandson home we witnessed an automobile accident. People were hurt. People from all directions were getting out of their vehicles to tend to the injured until the Ambulance and police arrived. It was beautiful to witness the goodness of people and their willingness to help others in a time of need. There are still good and decent people in the world and I witnessed their goodness first hand yesterday. Thank you for being a help to others with your channel. If this is an option for you might want to consider it. If you have a large really large room consider making a dummy wall maybe 3 ft wide by the length of your room. Make an invisible door that looks like the wall. And hide some if not most of your preps freeze dried foods like Augason Farms #10 cans, water, rice & beans inside. It will be nice knowing not everything was taken.

I don't comment very often on the pages I follow. We come from families that lived through the Great Depression and more. Everyone has their opinions and beliefs. I appreciate the guardrails you placed on your page. Stress is high for many people. You help them/us focus on the importance of preparing. We live close to the Canadian border in Washington State. That means high risk of earthquake, tsunami, mud slides, high winds and lots of rain and snow! We lose power at least once a year for 2 days to 2 weeks. Being "prepared" is a way of life! We live in gratitude and look for the positive. Your focus and kind encouragement for all levels of experience is stellar. 🎉 Thank you for keeping us moving forward!

Great resource.Six weeks ago, I broke my preparations into 10 categories and put one category onto my calendar for Sun-Sat each week with the intention of doing an assessment & updated inventory in that category and spending any extra money, time & resources that week on supplies & skills. Along with making a prioritized list of things, knowledge & skills I want/need to focus on “next round”. I found this a practical & organized way to stay on track, since I find so many useful videos, tips, ideas that can leave me hopping from topic to topic. It also helps me watch for sales & focus my reading & learning by category. My original thought was it would give me one or two rounds through all the categories by year end/election time & keep me focused going into the new year. So glad you’ve created a resource for everyone to work from, too.

I have 2 refrigerators, two freezers. I buy hogs and beef from local farmers, freezers work best when full. So, when you have room in your freezers…fill plastic gallon water or old gallon milk bottles with water and put them in your in your freezers. It will not only keep your freezers colder longer if power goes out but, you’ll also have water.
@PulpParadise

Regarding "fill" gallon jugs, leave a couple inches of space at the top or you will get a real life reminder of the fact that water expands when frozen, including when it's in the form of milk.

Just bought a Kindle copy of your book! Thank you! I had this same uneasy feeling of impending unrest in 2020. That was a trial run. I was prepping in the summer of 2020. Now I am close to a 6-12 month self-reliance level. There are holes, somewhat large ones. Trying to figure out how best to midigate. I had a heart attack in Dec 22 and 2 of my meds are rediculously expensive, a 3 month supply is not an option. I am striving for 2 months. As for food. We will be OK. If someone gets crazy and takes out the grid... I will be canning night and day for days! I have transitioned to freeze dried and dehydrated for basics like eggs and milk. I live in hurricane country, the Gulf Coast of Alabama. Preps for us is a way of life! We even have tax free weekends for preps.

wonderfully comprehensive, thank you. Here in the island state of Australia, we are provided with 3 bins, 1 for garden waste [ picked up once a fortnight ], 1 bin for recyclables [picked up once a fortnight ], and a smaller bin picked up every week, for general garbage. As part of my preparedness, i have worked through the winter weeding, and pruning, clearing fence lines etc, too be ready for the summer season that begins in December, bushfire is a risk factor where i live. Also going throughout the home finding all items [looking in every nook, and cranny ] for every, and any items for the recycling bin, in case, for some reason these services could not be offered for [ hopefully ] a short period of time. This was after asking myself, what do i take for granted that happens on a regular basis. Instead of one yars spply of firewood, i'm holding 2-3 years supply. Thankfully we have hydro-electric, however it provides peace of mind, knowing there's a back up if needed. i appreciate your focus on preparedness, and excluding religion, and politics, creating a safe space.

A mama deer ate my green bean vines. So we went out today, and bought 5 pound fresh beans. We canned them, so that was 5 qts for the pantry plus 2 sides for this week. I cooked enough tonight for 2 meals as i try not to cook every night. Your book sounds great. Weirdly, lately, I'm feeling like I did in 2001 before before we were all stunned by what happened in NY. I look at everyone around ne, as we all go about our business. It's as if we have blinders on. That we cant see what is coming. I hope I'm wrong. Across the pond 🇬🇧 some of us are watching what will unfold. We pray that everyone will remain calm whatever the outcome. My husband and I were discussing the after effects of the election. Especially if similar to what happened with the serious civil unrest that happened last time, sadly and needlessly resulting in deaths. We presumed that the appropriate government agencies would have already prepared for either outcome. Also food distribution centres, stores would be stocked and secured to prevent looting. I imagine that businesses will board up their shop windows. Could we even see a lockdown or marshal law? I sincerely hope it doesn’t go down that road. However, I doubt very much that calmness will prevail and there’ll be unrest. The politians most definitely have to dial down their hate/vendetta/war rhetoric. We all know that stirs up violence which we’ve seen before. The ball is in their court to behave as adults to ensure peace is front and centre. This video was concise and thoroughly thought through. Packed full with vital information. Well done. Very impressive! 👏👏👏

Took a couple days off from canning and started going through my sewing essentials. Ordered another belt for my treadle sewing machine. Got extra needles and thread, all the small tools and got all my scissors sharpened. Elastic, snaps, hook and eyes, all the small things i could think of. Want to be able to repair what i have and make new if necessary. Next is hardware for repair on home and furniture. So much to do

Thank you for your hard work in compiling all this information. The problem is that all these things are extremely overwhelming! We still have ordinary things to do every day. There are not enough hours in the day to do all these things nor do most of us have enough energy or money to do all these things. Praying for the time, energy and money to get as many things done in their priorities. Having to do all these things adds to .my stress! Everyone has to do what they can ,within their abilities and resources. God bless and help us all!

Hi Leisa. To create the Emergency Contact Card, use a template in Avery Labels. You can print yourself and there are multiple to a page. You can also edit individual cards so you can put info on 2 tat are different then laminate so both sides are visible.. allowing more Tommy and larger font. Be Safe. Be Prepared. Be Blessed.

I work at least 60 miles from my home and the company yard is 1/2 way point, I am getting a back pack together with light tent, camping mini cook stove and dehydrating at least 2 weeks of food because I am handicapped so yeah will take me that long to walk 60 miles, keeping a case of water in my car at all times and a case of water in my work truck so when I get back to yard I can reload back up with water and dehydrated food ,keep on walking to to get home.

I've tried keeping water in my vehicle. Unfortunately, it evaporates or springs a leak. I suggest using 2 liter bottles of soda to store your water in. The plastic is thicker and stronger than the bottles water is stored in. If you can find them packaged water pouches.

Just remember that if it gets too hot in your car, the plastic will leach into the water.

Some observations on preparedness from someone who does pest control (and sees a lot of stuff you'd never see if you weren't in the field): >Income percentile is meaningless. I've serviced homes of people who are absolutely in the top 1%, and the level of preparedness in many of these homes is rudimentary at best. Maybe they have enough in the house for a two-week weather emergency. In terms if things really getting real, unless they have a second or third home in a fairly remote location that is fully stocked and ready to go, they are in a whole world of trouble. I've been in public housing units and crappy apartments where people are living hand to mouth, where they do not even have three days of food in the home. I've also been in public housing units where I've come across some of the best prepared people I've seen in 8+ years of doing pest control. Ample food and water, all on pallets and racks, along with a backup generator in the basement. >A self-storage unit is one of the best and smartest investments you can make. Know how to choose and use one. Well maintained facility. Indoor and climate controlled. Near main highway. Outside major cities or urban slums (sometimes you may have no choice but to choose one inside a major city). Never rent a unit that is a row-shed in an open lot (it is virtually impossible to keep mice out of them, and they are high risk for forced entry). I've seen too many bad apartments in bad areas, with next to nothing for storage. You want your preps off-site, where you can exfiltrate out of there when things start getting real. I've also seen lots of good apartments in the downtown sections of major cities where you really need to get out of there when things get real. Don't know if I've posted these before: >Communicaitons is critical. My comms bag is Kaito Voyager radio with NOAA channels. I have all the NOAA frequencies for my part of the country in a notebook, along with all 77 Prime Entry Point (PEP) radio stations for the IPAWS network. I also have this information saved to flash drive. I also have solar battery banks and all variations of USB cables in the bag. I can run that radio off battery bank from anywhere. >If you're looking to stock up on medical supplies, and your Medicare/Medicaid is affiliated with AARP, you should receive a quarterly catalog of medical supplies that are deeply discounted. My mother used to receive the catalog, along with $200 per quarter in house money to use on supplies. You're advised to use it up every quarter because you can order up to a limit on a number of the items in the catalog every 30 days. My mother never used more than $50 per quarter, so the rest of it was converted into Velcro Ace bandages, Kerlix rolled gauze, 4x4 gauze sponges and one-inch rolls of tape (all high-value stuff if you're a prepper).

In the case of severe weather event, know where and how to shut off your utilities, especially gas and water. If it takes a special tool, have it in a designated spot. When living in earthquake country, as far as emergency preparation we learned to keep a pair of sturdy boots (in case of broken glass) under the edge of the bed and a tool bag with tools to turn off utilities, to get through jammed door or window (shorty crow bar), hand saw, etc. My app for emergency alerts notifies me of NOAA warnings, and my weather app notifies me even if only a storm is possible. As I write this we just got an emergency alert on tv. While I don't believe there will be a big hullabaloo after the election, I feel more strongly a solar flair could knock down the grid. That means it's possible that cell towers could go down along with the electrical grid. This is why printing a copy of info is so important, in case our phones don't work, too.

What really scares me right now is that we are in the middle of hurricane season and it's not looking great weather wise. Then we have a political party saying there will be not only a civil war but a WORLD war if they are not elected. We have had parties from both sides come along and place signs on our property without even asking and are now being snubbed by our neighbors because we removed those signs. We are retired and live on a fixed income. We are somewhat prepared. But temperatures are so hot and so are tempers right now. Any advice is great advice.

This is really terrific - my husband and I got two copies from Etsy and we're sitting down every evening during cocktail hour and going over that day's plan. Today's really made us think about our cat's "go bag" and how to put together medications and supplies in case we need to leave the house quickly. The biggest danger in our area are wildfires. Thanks! Lots of food for thought.
