@@thegoat164 overrated? Have you even heard ormer players/coaches talk about that team or the Brady/Belichick era in general?? But I guess you know more about football than they do.....🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@mprattyh3 Mr. Tuck Rule is the Forest Gump of the NFL. Everyone of the Pats SB teams are WEAK compared to those top 20 Greatest Teams of all time. In fact if those teams played in the 80's they would be nobody's.
Harry Engel I agree, the 75’ Steelers were better than their 78’ counterparts. While I do think the 78’ Steelers are a top 5 team of all time, the 75’ team was a machine all year. They led the league in wins, point differential, 11 pro bowlers, had the most challenging division with Cincinatti and Houston both being playoff caliber that year, and Pittsburgh beat both of the other premiere teams of the era in the same playoff run (Dallas and Oakland). The Steel Curtain was it’s peak during that time frame of 74’-76’ and 75’ was their best team collectively that won the super bowl.
@Harry Engel I agree with all of that. To add to that, I think one reason people pick the 78’ team over the 75’ team is the 78’ team destroyed both opponents on the way to the super bowl (33-10 defeating Denver and 34-5 beating Houston) and the they were beating an excellent Dallas team 35-17 late in the super bowl, at that point Dallas had only one offensive touchdown until the Steelers played rather soft defensively for the remainder of the game. However, I don’t think Houston was the same caliber of opponent in the AFC title game that Oakland was in 74’ and 75’. To add even more to that, I would put the 75’ and 78’ teams in the top 10 as you said. In no particular order for the top 10 teams I’d probably go -72’ Dolphins -75’ Steelers -76’ Raiders -78’ Steelers -84’ 49ers -85’ Bears -89’ 49ers -91’ Redskins -92’ Cowboys -04’ Patriots Honorable mentions -66’ Packers -73’ Dolphins -79’ Steelers -86’ Giants -69’ Chiefs -96’ Packers -98’ Broncos What you think?
I’m a Cowboys fan and he did a great job but Jimmy doesn’t have enough of a resume to be in the Hall of Fame. Sorry. He had 2 good years with the Cowboys and that was it.
@@roboninja3194 I get your point but what I am saying is that he didn't have any other success in the NFL after that. The Hall of fame signifies greatness in the sport. It is more about longevity and a proven track record of success in the NFL. His NFL coaching record is 80-64. Very Average to me. Although if he did make it to the HoF I wouldn't be disappointed.
In retrospect the 2007 Patriots started to waver during the playoffs. They barely beat San Diego who were hobbled with injuries (Rivers and L.T). If they were healthy they might have had a chance to beat them. It wasn't that shocking they lost to the Giants.
@Harry Engel anything ^could^ have happened if the Packers went the the SB. Pats win b/c Farve mistakes, Pack wins b/c Pats were burnt out by then. All I know is my 10-year old self and the rest of Patriot kingdom were THRILLED we got to play the Giants instead of the Packers in SB 42. Tragic
You could make an equally valid argument for Moss that year. Moss changed that entire offense. No way does Brady put up those kind of numbers without him.
@Harry Engel The Soul Patrol. Willie Brown was one of the greatest corners ever. Definitely top 5 all time...maybe top 3 along with Mel Blount and Night Train Lane. Tatum and Atkinson were a great safety duo
@@quincee3376 Mike Haynes was one of the greatest corners ever. I would say he's top 5 all time. He was the guy that really put that 83 Raiders team over the top. Him and Lester Hayes was a great CB duo. They totally shut down the Redskins passing game in SB18...which was the highest scoring offense in NFL history at that time. Haynes was great with the Patriots before he got traded to the Raiders
As great as the 1975 Steelers were Staubach was throwing into the endzone at the end to beat them.Final score 21-17 and Dallas lead throughout the game until reggie Harrison's block punt changed the game. 1975 Dallas Cowboys were a great team as well and those Pitt vs Dallas SB'S are the best!
Any of these thing happen - Belichick takes the FG over going for it on 4th down - Asante Samuel picks the ball off instead of dropping it - The helmet catch hits the turf - Brady and Moss connect on the pass at the end The 2007 Patriots are the undisputed greatest team, and that's what makes the NFL so amazing. If the Pats had not given their all and shown too much to the Giants in Week 17, I don't think they win, but the Pats too much for the Giants to study and they were all over Brady. Bill and Brady learned from that, and now, no one is beating them twice a season.
I feel like for the first 9 weeks the 07 patriots were the greatest team ever blowing out a stacked chargers team going on the road and destroying a 13-3 cowboys team by 21 points and the going and beating undefeated Peyton Manning on the road is the most impressive stretch I’ve seen. I feel like they started to slow down after the eagles game
Ik the 2019 ravens didn’t end that well but they might’ve had an even better stretch they beat almost every playoff team in a row it was historic but then lost to the titans
Philadelphia provided the blueprint. They barely escaped Baltimore and struggled with the Giants. To this day Brady cannot handle being rushed, pressured.
Strangely, 46 years later, there are still a few Steeler fans who whine about they would have three-peated in 1976 if only they had Franco and Rocky. Pittsburgh had both on opening day and still lost to Oakland so that is highly dubious. Pittsburgh got their four rings and deserved the title of the Team of the Seventies, but this was the Raiders' year. In 1976, Oakland was as good as any SB champion at 16-1. It's past the time when we should be hearing "If only we had Franco and Rocky...!" Oakland didn't have Fred Biletnikoff in the brutally close 1975 title game, and only lost by 6 points. I think a Hall of Fame WR was probably worth one TD. The Raiders didn't make a case about this.
I'm surprised the Patriots were as high as they were to be completely honest. If you want to be considered the greatest team, you have to win the big game, period. I'd put the 2003-2004 team higher than the 2007 team. They won back to back Super Bowls in 03' and 04' and went on a 21 game win streak spanning from October 5th 2003 to October 31st 2004. Yes, you heard me right, they didn't lose a game in over a calendar year. That's dominance!
@Harry Engel Corey Dillon was a beast that 2004 season, but everyone forgets that Laurence Maroney had his best year as a Patriot in 2007. I'm not saying he's on the level of a Corey Dillon, i just find it funny that people forgot how talented Maroney was and if it wasn't for injuries, he really would've been special. Todd Gurely reminds me of his game, and elusive and strong back. I 100% agree with the last statement you've made. Willie McGinest and company would've dropped Eli.
the only other patriots teams that could mess with 07 are 2016 and 2014. 2014 was the most stacked team they ever had if you look at the roster. 2016 could have gone 19-0 if they were fully healthy the entire year.
The 1992 Dallas Cowboys were the NFL’s version of the Miami Hurricanes. The 1993 Cowboys should’ve been in the top 5 because they were team to start 0-2 and win it all.
When I was a kid and the NFL first came to the UK I bought a VHS tape that featured highlights of two Superbowls, Jets v Colts and 76 Raiders v Vikings. I thought, "Wow these games are so old!" Even though they were actually only about 10 to 15 years old at the time I was watching. 😂
If you switched the 2007 Patriots last reg. season game (beat NYG 38-35) with the SB (lost NYG 17-14), the Patriots would've had the same record w/ the same stats but have won the SB & most likely been greatest team ever. Just by switching two games around. Guess i'll just have to be happy w/ 20 yrs of dominance instead...LFG!!!
Love my 1962 Packers, 13-1, 415 points scored, 148 given up. Beat Halas' Bears 49-0 in Green Bay, beat the Eagles 49-0 in Philadelphia, who they lost the 1960 championship to. Lost to an 11-3 Detroit team on Thanksgiving. Lombardi's best team.
the annointed one People forget that team had peaked. They were a tired old team, and it showed in the playoffs even before the Super Bowl. A pedestrian Jaguars team played even with them, and then a hobbled Chargers team did the same.
The Patriots one still sucks to see especially since I was in high school and my team went undefeated that season and my little brother's team went undefeated that season and it was just a crazy season to all end with one of the biggest upsets in sports history lmao my high school self was NOT happy after that game but it's funny thinking back on it now
The 1992 Dallas Cowboys had the best Triplets in NFL history. The best offensive line in NFL history. The best depth in NFL history. The fastest defense in NFL history. The NFL's all-time leading rusher. The most dominant post-season against high quality competition in NFL history. Oh, they were also the best team in NFL history.
I'd rather take Montana, Rice and Craig over Aikman, Irvin, and Smith. The only one of them who's top 10 at their position is Smith. Meanwhile Rice is far and away the best WR of all time and Montana is at worst the 3rd best QB of all time.
This is why we can't stand Cowgirl fans. The 70s Raiders had better offensive lines. Ain't no way in hell the 90s Cowboy defenses can see the 70s Steelers, 80s Bears, 2000s Ravens (either 2000 or 2006) 2002 Bucs and the 2013/2014 Seahawks.
My guess for the best Niners team of all time, would probably have to be the 1989 49ers even though they lost two regular-season games, that season was just in a whole nother atmosphere
'72 Dolphins was a team full of white guys that would be amateur players in today's age. Maybe the margin in which they were better than other teams at the time was significant, but it's like claiming some sprinter from 1924 is the #1 sprinter of all time when there's hundreds of people today that could beat his time.
Gotta give the 70s Steelers credit: They won 2 Super Bowls before the 1978 rule changes and won 2 after 7 seems about right for NE 2007. The close games in the regular season: 24-20 at IND, 31-28 PHI, 27-24 at BAL, 38-35 at NYG. But it’s about that 1. OAK 1976: I’ve seen that NFL Films of Super Bowl XI & old man Willie with the Pick Six. And the years of the Raiders coming up short to the Steelers in the playoffs and they finally hoist the Lombardi. DAL 1992: Read “Boys Will Be Boys.” Everything finally came together for a team that was 1-15 four years ago.
Greatest team in NFL history 1992 Dallas Cowboys 13 - 3 won NFC East Division crown NFC divisional playoffs beat Philadelphia Eagles 34 - 10 re match 1980 NFC Championship NFC Championship beat San Francisco 49ers 30 - 20 rematch 1981 known as change of the Guard greatest game NFC history Super Bowl XXVII beat Buffalo Bills 52-17 number one defense in the league underrated to become Dynasty team of the early 90s back-to-back World Championship professional football 1992 and 1993 forever
America's Team - 5x Super Bowl Champions Dallas Cowboys won 4 Super Bowl championship 1971 1977 1992 and 1993 from Roger Staubach to Troy Aikman overrated greatest quarterback of all time
@@jonathanblaze1648 Cowboys would've beaten both of those teams not saying they weren't great teams 92 cowboys bigger offensive line would've wore down the lite defensive lines .it was so much different game in the 90's
Those old raiders still sends chills up my spine. Only issue is that should've been the patriots first title that year.... but hey nfl messed us over enough before that
@@thegoat164 yeah but 01, 03, 04, 14, 16, 18 they owned the rams x2, eagles, panthers, falcons, seahawks ass. 6 sbs in 20 years more than the 49ers have in their history lmao
I'm not a pats fan but there's no way they're six teams that are better than this team. I would really like to see a strength of schedule comparison of all these teams
man the steelers passed on len dawson and johnny unitas, passed on dan marino and joe montana, we had or could have had all of these hof qbs when we really needed a qb lmao
You know and Im not a packer fan but that packer team should be in the top 2 of all time , they won 5 championships in 7 years no free agency to fix holes like today you didnt have the medical miracles of today or the cry babies
75 Steelers had the Oilers and Bengals who both won 10+ wins that year, then they overcame the Raiders and Cowboys in the playoffs. Sure, you could argue they’re just right at 10, but you could also higher
@Tripz i definitely don't think the dolphins team is the best ever even though they went undefeated. To me it's not just always about who has the best record. I look more at the talent... To me i would take that 98 Broncos team the San Francisco team with Deon Sanders and the 92 Cowboys as my top teams of all time...
@Tripz That 07 Patriots team was good don't get me wrong but i honestly think the Patriots team that beat the Panthers was better. The more i think about it you probably right they definitely should be in the top 10. They were unstoppable in the regular season like no other team we ever saw.
@@sharky2404 Cause they won when it mattered. The L to the Rams ended on an incompletion in the endzone. The Washington L would've been a W if not for a fluke double fumble on the same play for a defensive TD. They also avenged their only convincing L against the Eagles with 2 wins over them later in the season including a blowout in the playoffs. They also outscored their opponents by an average of 39-16 in the playoffs. And they were a dynasty, so of course they were gonna have a spot on here. That's the same reason the 78 Steelers are gonna probably be top 4 despite feasting on the 2nd weakest schedule in the league that year.
This top 10 is just nostalgia fan service. You mean to tell me the 99 Rams can't make the top 10? number 1 offense, number 5 defense? There are a bunch of teams that have been around since 2000 that are better than teams on this top 10.
My pops said their 76 steeler team was their best ever even if they didn’t make it to the dance. He said, what they accomplished that year in the face of all their injuries and adversity, was insurmountable.
