not only that look at the MUSIC we got to listen to! I mean today's stuff is pure garbage. My Great Granddaughter was recently over here and I happened to be playing Jennifer Rush's "The Power of Love" & she says what the hell WHO is that? She then noticed all these yesteryear songs on my desktop and started listening to them she was totally blown away didn't even know they existed. 17yo and she was in tears at times. yeah. so I tell her welcome to the 60's, 70's, 80's.

I can fall asleep listening to this music. The guys who does this music is pretty famous I can’t recall his name at this moment but it’s all computer generated. He’s a generous man who allows people to use his materials. Have a nice day.

That' comment seemed a little harsh, I was born in the early 1950's also but wouldn't call young people stupid..I think it would take a lot to grow up and maneuver thru these modern times...I have nostalgia for the past but don't know if I'd call it the "good old days"..just think our problems were simpler then...

BTW we are NOT talking Nostalgia it's reality as the differences in how a Civil society was as compared to todays Mess, "simpler problems" I think not, the current problems were self inflicted...... Born 1948 traveled the world for an airline and have watched the decline in America as viewed from other nations perspective not only our own.....

I was born in 45 and experienced all the beautiful things in life back then. People were more honest and trustworthy and and a man could support a family, house payment, and car payment on a 40 hour a week job and live a comfortable life. Now you have to choose between buying food or gas for your car. I never thought I'd ever see our country in this sad a shape. Videos like this take me back to those times and soothe my soul and the music is a perfect match.

@@johnbarnes1268 I was born in 51.. my dad along with many of his peers went off to work every morning while my mom and many other women kept the house and took care of the children. We took our meals at the same time every day prepared with care by those women. Neighbors talked over fences, respecting each other and those in authority when they were needed. Also my mom made the majority of what we wore. Things have changed drastically.. we shouldn't be surprised cuz Scripture has warned us. If I may say, the Lord causes his sun to shine on the evil and good, sending rain on the just and unjust. As He sits on His throne in heaven, His kingdom rules over all. (From Psalms and Matthew) I agree, those were brighter days, perhaps cuz we as children lived simpler, playing, and learning taught life lessons. May His love and peace and mercy and grace be known. Blessings.

It can be fun to guess or research the locations on Google. 14:09 is Harolds Club, also Reno, NV; 14:33-15:36 is apparently SF; 16:50 Berthoud pass, CO. Google Lens tells me 18:44 is Monumento a la Revolución, Mexico City. 😯

Until my mom set me straight, when she told me that in 1962 the reason why all the parents came to my Birthday Pool Party at Howard Johnson’s was because that was in the extreme height of the Cuban missile crisis, and they were there to hightail it home to their bomb shelters and basements if the USA got nuked by Cuba/Russia.

The saddest thing about these photos is that most of the people in them are dead. Their hopes and dreams, their cares and worries all mean nothing now. The passing of time is so sad.

yep females treated like 2nd class.. even worse for blacks. notice that there was not ONE black in this entire set?

right. I still drive a stick and in fact have never owned an auto tranny and I'm 79yo. if properly driven sticks just don't give problems. The problem though is nowadays nobody knows how to drive much of anything.

I think it's due to the fact that these images were taken on Kodachrome slide film. It was known for it's vivid colors. Kodak claimed Kodachrome slides would last "a lifetime" without fading out. Now we see that it's true! The images outlasted most of these people depicted.

Yes Kodachrome transparencies were well saturated. I loved that about Kodachrome. I guess not everyone else did or does. We used to shoot Kodachrome 64 at 50 (ASA) for even more saturation! Of course in the 1950s Kodachrome was pretty slow film, ASA 10 I think. You really needed a bright sunny day for best results, but my how nice those old slides look. And one great thing is the slides didn’t “wash out” over time like Anscochrome.

Many years ago H.G. Wells wrote a novel called "The Time Machine", an early science-fiction story about a machine that allowed people to go back in time. Nowadays people will make comments about, "If I had a time machine I would..."
