HA! The stumble when you jumped down and walked back over to the saw when bucking. I know that feeling! The ground seems to have it out for us! I swear it'll do everything in it's power to drop us to our knees. And laugh the whole time!

I watch all your and love to see how you harvest the mature trees, and the skill required to do your job. The question is are there any utube videos or channels that will show us how the harvested trees are taken off the mountains in BC?

Love the videos. Such beautiful scenery. You make felling huge trees look easy. 💯 Technical question: When you make a huge notch in a big tree, are you basing the depth of that notch on your bar length for the back cut? It's probably something you "just do" as a feller but I'm curious non the less. Thanks for the videos!! 👍✌️

If I'm not mistaken the wider the growth ring the warmer the weather was during that year and the narrower the cooler the year. By looking at that little slice of rings the weather was a bit warmer toward the center and a bit cooler in the last few years. Kinda sticks to the ECO freaks don't it.😂👍

If I’m not mistaken more to do with rainfall/ snow.
@joncozzi1701

Also the rings get tighter as the tree gets bigger. Still putting on the same volume but as the circumference increases the same amount of new wood grown is spread over a greater area resulting in tighter rings.
@johns3106
@johns3106 Месяц назад
Yeah…you’re mistaken. Width of rings is dependent on many factors, but the two most important are; available moisture and available sunlight. It’s pretty easy to match up slow growth years with historical dry spells, and trees often grow quicker when they’re younger (inner rings) due to more sunlight being available to the crown in younger stands….so I guess your “cooler the last few years” theory sticking it to the “ECO freaks” is pretty off base. Even if it has been cooler for the last couple of years, the trend is undeniably towards things getting warmer….you don’t have to be a genius to read a graph of average temperatures going up worldwide!

Great videos, with great skill. How do you get the logs out and what does the jobsite look like when you are finished?

Nice work! Curious though, I see your saw bog down in a cut, you pull it out and rake the chain on a log… what makes the chain bind up? Is it sawdust in the clutch or sawdust in the bar groove… pitch build up? What?
@ToddAdams1234
@ToddAdams1234 Месяц назад
It’s “mostly” sawdust and chips in the between the rails and the chain. It’s also just “Schmutz” in the bar groove that won’t allow the chain to turn without some “help” sometimes. I’ve had to do similar things with a 20 and 30 inch bars.
