1000 Hour Review And Service On The Takeuchi TB260

1000 hour review and service on the Takeuchi TB260 excavator. I've had my excavator for a little over one year and finally hit the 1000 hour mark, so I made a video giving my thoughts of the machine and performing the 1000 service. The service was very similar to the 500 hour service so I briefly go over everything that needs to be changed. Then I share what I like about the machine and why I think everyone should give them a try, but I also encourage everyone to try other brands because what I like and works for me may not work for you. Hopefully this answers some of the questions why I chose Takeuchi. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #review

Thanks, I like that kind of video, information from someone who owns one and uses it, and explains what make them feel that way is a whole lot more useful than all the "reviews" on the internet.

AND they're 'spousal' friendly! Great walkaround review and maintenance. You touched on many important elements of the machine and to me, the proof is watching about ALL your videos and I don't believe I've seen one where this machine has failed on the job - SO THERE! I am subscribed to three of you 'DIRT' people and you all share the same IMPORTANT element, MAINTAIN IT and it will serve you well. Yours has certainly taken on tons of jobs so it's a keeper. Thanks for another one & Hug the family! Sonny (CT)

Your brand of machine is one of the reasons that I subscribed to your channel. I owned the same 2 machines as you do except mine were early 2000's model years. And I had a full time job driving my log truck. Takeuchi back then at least in this area was almost unheard of. I was actually the 1st in my area to own one. Had the local Kubota dealer (good friend) get them shipped in for me. Now there are all kinds of uchi's around here! ...lol

I agree with your disclaimer on the different brands. You buy what you like personally, what you can afford, what works best for your situation, and dealer access. I run a Bobcat E35. I love the machine as far as its functional factors but being a zero tail swing machine, its a little cramped in the cab. Other than that I have no complaints. Good review my friend.

Thanks for the video. I just got a used TB240 and am doing the maintenance on it. Very similar you yours and your video has been very helpful. My manual says to check the slew pinion gear every 500 hours. I didn't see you do that in your video. I took off the cover plate, but the picture in my manual isn't very clear about how to check the pinion lube. Any tips or advice you can give?

Hi Brandon. Another great, well thought out video. What size grading bucket do you recommend for the 260? Believe you said in another video you had a 42”? I’ve had other people tell me it’s too big for that machine so wanted to get your opinion. Whatever you are using seems to be handling fine. Thanks from KC.
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 3 года назад
Thank you! I have a 42” grading but it could easily handle a 48” The grading buckets aren’t as tall as the digging buckets so they don’t weigh as much. My 36” tooth bucket holds more material than that 42” I’ve only had it feel tippy once loading mud with the 36” and I had it extended over the side of the track.
@austinavery4772
@austinavery4772 Месяц назад
This is what im wondering about my bobcat e60r2. Thinking of a 42 grading bucket. My 36 can be chock full all the way out over side tracks and bounce it wont lift a track. Long arm but i do have a counter weight. Anyone run a 60 with larger grading bucket?
@beersfamily3426
@beersfamily3426 3 года назад
On my 260, there are 2 grease fittings where you grease the slew bearing. On the top one, we were able to see grease come out but not with the bottom one. Do you know where the bottom fitting grease goes to? Also, when you grease the slew bearing, do you pump until you see it come out the bottom then turn?
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 3 года назад
The bottom fitting goes the swing cylinder on the boom. I just put a few pumps in my slew gear. I don’t think you want to see it out of the bottom. I believe you can blow the seal out by greasing too much. Just a few pumps on the 4 different directions every 50 hours

Brandon, did I detect a spot of grease on the floor? I’m gonna have to bag you up some planer chips so you can soak that up! That was a good look at how easy it is to service the Koochie. Heck, changing the oil in my baby backhoe is 10 times as messy. And, the hydraulic filter is sure to soak you too! Now about what excavator I prefer... one that someone else owns! I like to watch.. It’s a 50 horsepower yanmar and no emissions issues so far. The biggest thing is keep the engine running warm. I let it warm up for a few minutes at idle then it usually goes to half throttle. I've been waiting on a Takeuchi TB 240, renting a TB 230 in the meantime. Amazing how the TB 230 at 6400 pounds keeps up or surpasses the John Deere 35G 8,000 pounds, zero tail swing in breakout force, and lift capacity. Huge performance loss with the zero tail swing, but it's definitley safer around houses, trees, cars. Where we work, you pay big fines if you damage a tree. I can pickup a Sany 35U this week or wait 4-6 months and keep throwing away rental money in the meantime. Do you think the Takeuchi TB 240 is that much better than a Sany 35 or 50 U?

I do not have the angled blade. My machine came with an option for a tool carrier for like a 2 in 1 bucket but due to Corona and availability I just got the straight blade. I like my skid steer travel option I have on the excavator that allows me to walk with joy sticks if I choose. It's just a button to push on the left stick.
