Your comments are erroneous. They were not hard BUT COURAGEOUS AND TOUGH. AT THE SAME TIME THEY WERE SENSITIVE AND EMPATHIC. not hard at all. compassionate and tough soldiers. Where will we find the likes o'ye again?
We had a FJR Leutnant attached to us when we were on an exercise in West Germany, 1989. That was my first real experience of the International Airborne Brotherhood. It might seem odd but, if it weren't for General Student our Airborne Forces might never have become. Respect to ALL our Brethren. Glad to know that our Brothers from the All American were there, too. Remember the Waal Crossing. "To the open foe, fight with chivalry. To the guerilla, extend no quarter"...
I watched Panorama last night, there was this guy, who was SO FUCKIN BIGOTTED , he said to George Galloway, away back to England, the North of Ireland IS England. The fuckin CRETIN. ( by the way, he will have to look that word up the ignorant Twat. )
Jim lad,....warm beer?! If you drink lager, which is always served ice cold, then I suppose beer does taste "warm." My husband is a "real ale" man (he refers to lager as gnat's piss...and we won't mention what he calls lager drinkers!), and he says it has to be a certain temperature to appreciate the fine taste of the beer. Yes, he certainly has backbone, having served in the Royal Welch Fusiliers and he's now retired from the Fire Service. Oh, and I have to say, his teeth are his own and they are pearly white, just like mine and all our family and friends, and we're British ;-)
Feo, I agree that the American Government charged us (a fortune, which we only finally paid in recent years apparently). However, that's a government for you, which is not to be confused with the people. American men and women came and fought, and too many didn't get to go home...that's a tragedy that we all share.
@ Feo Lender. Well if you didn't start wars you couldn’t finish, we wouldn't have to save you. Munitions cost money and your incompetence cost American lives.
Pup Ville give it a rest you lost most your American soldiers lives out fighting the Japanese and we helped you w them and that cost British lives how did Vietnam go for you mate lol
Nobby Nolevel, I am not even of that generation, and I was holding back the tears listening to the commentary and watching the video. I would have given anything to have been there, to just watch the march past.
Scott Mclean the fact that you can only swear like a moron instead of making a valid comment shows that you are pitiful and have nothing to say of any interest.
@big foot Sure so all the Mexican and all the Central Americans and every square in of South America and Canada can all go 1st. North and South america was 100% settled by Europeans and it is now what it is. If you want to leave then go. I'm waiting.
@big foot I am in mine as well dumbass. Somehow you and your ignorant ilk seem to think you are in a place to tell others where they belong and where their country is. You are the one assuming you can determine where I should live. As I stated, give your property back and leave first. I am waiting. Moron.
@big foot Shut up fool. You "natives" were infact immigrants yourselves. Your dna is Asiatic. Probably migrated to the Americas searching for food. You we're mostly hunter gatherers. sleeping with buffalo, making child sacrifices to the gods, etc etc. The Europeans brought u civilisation, democracy, human rights, farming techniques that made the land abundant. Look at you now. You live in the mightiest nation in history
My old fella was a medic in the 5th Scottish battalion and served in Cyprus and Palestine at the end of the war (2nd ) but was as English as a longbow ....his service record recorded he was a aggressive recruit !!......my old fella was a gem and l miss the old boy but his character was made with these boys !!
From a former 82nd Airborne Trooper, which is never a "former' TROOPER!!!! ALL PARATROOPERS ARE OUR BROTHERS!!!!!! ALL-THE-WAY-AIRBORNE!!!!!! ALWAYS PROUD TO WEAR THAT BERET AND BE PROUD OF THE AIRBORNE FRATERNITY!!!!!!
i know how every 1 of them guys felt on that day. THEY FELT LIKE KINGS and so they should. because they are..been on them parades and really thought everyones eyes were on me and thats the way we should feel.proud to have served.
@S L99 "In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." Wilhelm Bittrich Commenting on the British Paratroopers at Arnhem (September 1944). Quoted in "Hitler's Generals" - Page 327 - by Correlli Barnett - History - 2003
Pretty impressive guys. I grew up reading about this regiment, and other British forces from the magazines my British grandfather would send me. I think I was the only kid in Southern California who knew about the Paras, the Royal Marines, the Vulcan & the Lightning...
Sehr schön und ergreifend. Anscheinend ist so etwas in Deutschland nicht möglich, bei uns fehlt der Respekt und die Anerkennung für unsere Soldaten. ich bin auch Fallschirmjäger, i´m Proud to be a Paratrooper and a Germanparatrooper. Best Wishes to Kameraden in Great Britain. " Glück ab ".
Dit zij TOP mensen ik heb een polo van deze mooi regement ik draag dit met trots ik ben normandie geweest en ook een Engelse marinier ontmoet omhelst ,ik noemde de hen de engel van vrijheid en samen de emoties laten zien aan elkaar de dag zal nooit meer vergeten god bles the UK ❤😊😊😊
These men and women make me proud to be british and also there the reason that Britain is the greatest country in the world and the greatest in history 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
My grandad was in the 8th parachute regiment 6th airborne division in the second world war his commanding officer was Alistair "jock" pearson. My grandad, Frederick John Jones died age 97 on the 6th of January 2021. Rest in peace our brave hero your fight is over
Max respect to the AAC pilots who served in Ulster. These guys would fly in anything, low cloud, fog, rain. Rarely left you stuck in an out station, or RV collection point, unless it was really bad, often flying in very dangerous conditions.
As an Army man who served in NI in 1974, I believe the best heli pilots were the Royal Navy lads who flew in atrocious weather. I'm not having a go at any of the aircrew, they were all good. Just saying who had the best rep from us 'squaddies' on the border.
Even if Market Garden was a defeat, it was a heroic one at that, and those Paratroopers fought tooth and nail for 9 days holding off German tanks...they made our country proud.
It s a long way to Tipperary! It s a long way to go! It s a long way to Tipperary! To the sweetest girl i know! Goodbye,Piccadilly! Farewell, Leicester-Square! It s a long long way to Tipperary! But my heart right there!

They just got on with it....coping with their memory's and pain....can't say that much for some shirkers nowadays who think its terrible cos their favorite football team drew or lost a game.
I recognised one of the old n bold in a wheelchair - he was at an Airborne Forces Day in the 'shot - he was mobile then , and visited the weapons display stand I was on. I explained the SLR , and then handed him the weapon . He hefted it and, as he and his mate were a bit hard of hearing , said " FUCK DOUBLING WITH THAT BASTARD GEORGE" the ruperts and their WAGs were strolling by at the time -pmsl .

My dad served in the 101st 501st PIR. He supported the battle at Arnhem And was one of the first at Bastogne. Words cannot describe these heroes. My dad passed away 3 years ago at age 93. He never spoke of the war, his medals spoke for him. He cried a lot when passing a tv with a war film. Such a gentle man with so many memories. He is with God and soon I will follow to beg his forgiveness for not understanding his pain.
Please never forget these humble heroes from ordinary stock, with the guts and fortitude to defend the natural rights of man and his rights by common law. Now we have wankers depriving us of our God-given rights. Stand up and defend yourself! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L1cFm5aTq20.html
I worked down the Pit at Nostell Colliery in Wakefield with Frank Stephenson, who passed away in the 90's who was one of the first men onto Pegasus bridge at Arnham, never said a bloody word about it, what a gent, wonderful man.
@@billelliot51 7th Battalion The Parachute Regiment - as anyone who pays any attention can tell you. The actor playing Major Howard fought at the bridge for real in June 1944. The glider troops you mentioned were AIRBORNE first, despite their regimental name - which was just a name and a badge: they belonged to the Airborne culture, not their line infantry namesakes. Many of these guys went Para Regt rather than be RTUed after the war.
