Great video, I just very recently bought a 2012 250 V-star and love it. I love the buckhorn bars myself. I bought some shortshots stainless staggered pipes for it, just waiting on the jet kit. I'm also picking up a 17/43 sprocket set today. Ya got to love these baby cruisers, so light and so much fun. Keep up the good work on the videos, I'm subscribed 👍

Thanks for watching! It's good to hear you are enjoying your bike! The xv250 really is a nice platform for a small bike!

@@BalithazzarrI think you can the only thing is you have a lot less room for adjustment as the back wheel will sit further back so when the chain slackens with wear you have no where to go, that's what understand from people who have done it.

@@caprilover6391thanks I accidentally deleted the comment about the chain but thanks for the info

Not to argue with your fuel choice, but you do agree that the XV 250 will run on regular unleaded all day tank after tank? I wonder how it would work on non-ethanol ...

I just recently bought a 2007 xv250 that only had 6,000 miles on it. I haven't been able to ride it just yet, because I was upgrading a few things on it and it snowed here where I live. One thing I have to replace is the handlebars because they're bent. I just ordered some 8 inch rise ape hangers that'll be here in a week.

Winter sucks! The originals aren't terrible, I've had worse, but you will like the upgrade I'm sure!

@sixfive0cycle if you want to extend your feet out farther, I found a set of forward controls on Amazon that I bought for mine. When I tried to install them, one of the brackets for the foot pegs was too long, so someone else who bought them just cut off the back 1/4 or so to make them fit. And they actually move the foot pegs forward about 3 inches or so

@@paulwildasr2008 I will keep that in mind. I am not currently considering making that change but it's good to know there are options for it, thanks!

@sixfive0cycle no problem. This is my actual first motorcycle, so I'm not planning on getting rid of it lol

@@paulwildasr2008Excuse me for butting in, but I owned a 250 Virago 20+ years ago and I just very recently bought a 2012 250 V-Star which I absolutely love. It takes me back. I also own a 1400 Intruder but there is something special about this light weight baby cruiser that's so fun👍

You might be running lower octane than you think, because with such a small tank much of the gas still in the line at the pump was from the previous customer's selection.

So you went to your buddies. No wonder I didn't recognize any of the roads. Never been down them.

Welp, I recently got a Yamaha Zuma 50 with a big bore kit. I am looking for a beginner motorcycle to go along with my scooter. I want one with a passenger seat. Specifically looking for a Rebel 250 CMX250 or a Virago 250 the XV250S. I am 5'2" tall. What do you recommend for a beginner bike? Coming from mopeds and motorized bicycles. I'm just looking to ride pretty much every day as long as it's not raining. My commute is about 10-20 minuets. I don't want any thing fancy but I want something to get my class M on. So is it better to get a bike that's decommissioned from a safety course? I am sure they took care of it. Have a nice day- W

I would suggest not getting one from a training program, they lead a hard life! The XV250 is a great beginner bike, it doesn't have much for a passenger. I enjoyed this bike as a commuter, hard to beat 75mpg!

@@sixfive0cycleso stay away from that kind of bike. Is the rebel 250 really that bad? I heard people hate it because of the ride quality but they are both decent machines. How long do you think I would get out of my Zuma once rebuilt? Needs lots of cosmetic repairs but couldn't complain about 120MPG either. Especially with the way this economy is going. I was looking at cars, you can't find a good one. Would it be best for me to find a non running machine and get it working? I heard that's the best way to go. What years are best for the Virago 250? The Zuma is a prebug from 98 good looking bike just a lot of cosmetic problems. Brake booster came apart and fluid leaked down all over the plastics of the bike.

@@Outback69 I don't know anything about the scooters. My issue with rebels is the size, I'm 5'10 and it feels really small. The virago offers a little bit more room to stretch out on.

Ok, thanks for the information I will look into it. Are 125's harder to find or not much? I just want a bigger bike to go along my smaller bike that's all. Does not got to be fancy at all. So the Yamaha is a bit better bike over all I am guessing. Honda is shorter. I fit on a Rebel 350 pretty well but would like to sit on a 250 just to see if I can do it. I am just looking for a motorcycle with no frills really. Thanks- WS

@Outback69 Have you found a motorcycle? I too would avoid getting one from a class. Too many people riding them who are making mistakes on them. I rode a rebel 250 1 time yrs ago. It was OK. I've owned a virago250 for 6 yrs now & I love it. I've owned a 550 & a 750. 250 are outstanding first bikes. I wouldn't recommend a lot of interstate travel. Good luck
