These XVS or Virago bikes are not about speed,.. Yes, they will get to 80mph, but take quite some time to get there, but the V-Twin engines sound and look superb and are extremely reliable.. typical Yamaha engines.. Utterly bulletproof engines..This bike is all about the cool looks and comfort.. And they are world class in that area..!
I have owned a 1997 XV250 for the last 11 years. Rode it yesterday, two up with my wife, we both had a big grin on our face. That's what this bike is all about.
I bought a 2002 Virago 250 in 2014. It had 5800 miles on it. It now has almost 18000 miles. I love it. At 67 and 130 lbs., I will probably ride this thing until it won't go anymore or until I can't ride anymore. No need for anything faster and of course...heavier. It is light enough for me to be able to pick it up by the handle bars should I drop it. And it is cheap. I paid $1100 for it in 2014. I've gone through almost three sets of tires which are way cheaper than tires for a heavier bike. Everything is cheaper as well as the insurance, and gas at 75 mpg, and I still get to ride a really cool looking little bike.
@@MrMate8869 I hope you got one. I regretted not getting this as my first bike. I ended up getting a Suzuki 250 marauder. It was awful. After selling that and getting a cbr250r sport bike, I really missed having a cruiser and finally just said screw it and I sold my CBR and I got my Virago. I'm gonna customize it once the parts arrive.
Since you got three sets of tires, I am assuming you have zeroed in to a really good one for the Virago 250. I have a 2006 - also got it for 1100 bucks, and it has less than 5000 miles on it, and I’m looking for a good tire. Do you have a specific suggestion for me? Thanks
That bike sounds SO good. You can tell it's just a well tuned machine made for fun, not speed. Perfect commuter bike and weekend curvy roads. You're riding about 50kph on curvy roads or around town, so it's just fine.
Nice video. I have one of these. I live in a city without a real winter so I switched to this bike from my car for daily driving. I dont regret it at all.
I'm looking for one of these as a beginner bike used. Devilishly hard to find one in Ohio, USA that isn't black?! Blue or red are always a couple states away.
@@RetroBikesDublin I see that lifan and leeway have their model of this bike with same engine I can see but it just says their brand on the case. But I'm not sure , I need to replace my Virago 250 engine and I found a lifan engine but it's same size and would fit in but im not sure If it's reliable even thou assume engine, what do you say as you have more experience on bikes?
@@stefangiurgila7807 don't have much experience changing engines, you may aswell just get a virago 125 or 250 engine they are cheap enough, complete you can get them for around €200
I just found a guy at work who has one and rebuilt it. As he said "I got this bike in about 2 crates of parts" but it needs a small bit of tlc. He did everything right however and now I'm gonna do my motorbike licence. Out of curiosity, can I just immediately start doing the A2 licence in Ireland? Because then I'm a bit fucked if I can't I won't lie😂
Thanks for the video. i've watched Magna video too. i'm really find hard to decide which bike to go with. What would recommend from Honda Virago and Honda Magna. If we think about handling, reliability, Riding vibration and fuel consumption? i'm a complete new to bikes. Main reason is i want to travel around my Island without breaking my bank. :) thanks for the amazing videos.
