Same here! I was a broadway musician for 12 years before becoming an RN. I also have my own studio/remote recording company. I guess nurses are talented people! Thanks for sharing your talents and a behind the scenes look at your set up.

+Donald Spaulding Awesome! If I were to start life over again I would have become a recording engineer/producer even though the chances of success are a long shot. I grew up in a fairly poor family and had to do something for a living where the odds were more in my favor. I like nursing don't get me wrong, but I often fantasize about doing something else.

+Donald Spaulding Do you have any of your work online? If so I'd love to check it out.

symphonicsound.com/samples.htm It's fun in your twenties, but not when you're raising a family. Even though I've only been a nurse for 2 years, I call nursing my first "real" job.

Hey there Keepit Real! Great to see your Behind the Scenes vid! Always nice to get an inside view into seeing how other RU-vidrs do their stuff. Crazy--your video and computer rooms are about the size of my Brooklyn apartment!

+becoming a comedian Wow. I heard apartments there are small but wow. The room I do my video in would otherwise be a bedroom and the computer room is basically a large walk in closet. I guess what we lack in culture here we make up for in space.

I feel like you may be a good person to ask... I am currently in school for pre nursing and I have been having a hard time figuring out if nursing is right for me or not. I have always been a creative person an artist/painter/musician etc. I'd like to know how it has been for you to become a nurse from an artistic background, and how your experience has been. I feel that I'd like to be doing something more stable, but still flexible, and I feel a deep desire to help people. I feel like my main worries are that nursing would "take over" my life, and that it would be too stressful or emotionally draining. I don't think I'd want nursing to be the only thing I did with my life, but don't want a career that leaves me living had to mouth. I feel a deep sense of purpose when helping people and have always felt that I could never have an office job, or a9-5. Anyway, any advice from you and/or any current nurses with an artistic background would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

+makeupbyjoyce When I started nursing school my original intent was to graduate work a couple of years and get back into music. That way I had a solid fall back position and a way of making a decent living whilst chasing the dream. Well things change and I never got back into music full time, but that's nobody's fault but mine. The truth is that nursing is a great springboard for being able chase other dreams. It only takes over if you let it. It is as flexible as you make it. Nursing has allowed me to live anywhere I've ever wanted to live. Lets say you want to move to LA and become a big star. You can make a much better living doing nursing in LA than you can waiting tables believe me.
