The Outlaw is my father! His name is Eddie Chesser! He holds 11 Bud Cup Championships under his belt. Thank you 1320 for coming and showing the rest of the world how we do things down here in Naples, FL. Hope to see you guys here again real soon!!!
Congrats on the win and what seems to be a great innovation to a guy who just witnessed these amazing races with the awd. Sooo glad for your pops and glad to see 1320 put something new and also amazing out to people who have never seen it before. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I fondly remember Steve Evans interviewing Leonard Chesser (Dat's Da one) back in the 80's. Really glad you guys decided to continue the tradition after all this time. Awesome vid. Thanks.
Ah man this takes me back to the late 80s early 90s. My dad constantly had the VCR set to record ESPN all weekend back when they showed awesome content like this. My favorite was always the swamp buggy races!
I couldn't remember what network covered these when I was a kid but you just reminded me exactly what network and why it was on my TV. Good Ole dad lol.
@@picklefart it started with original ESPN. TNN picked up many of the same programming throughout the 90s and then speed network picked up much of the same after that.
I suggested this a while back, im stoked to learn about this. I love the fact that 1320 is sharing all kinds of different motorsports now. The channel has always been my favorite, but this new direction is so sick.
sometimes i miss racing buggys. crazy to see 1320 there . watched them since the beginning and met fred and kyle multiple times . never in a million years did i think he'd cover buggy
What a killer opportunity to be able to see these races up bclose and personal. I've always wanted to see these races live and direct. Thanks for taking us along for the ride y'all!
Back in the early 2000 I used to build headers for these guys. I was told at one point just about all big block had my headers on them. I remember correctly one of them was Lonnie Chestler (SP). These guys build almost everything themselves. I have always wanted to see them in person. Hopefully some day soon I can. All of them were always super nice people.
Dunn is a legendary name is Drag Racing and Big Horsepower motorsports. Lonnie's Buggy the Terminator was always a serious contender and dunked that queen in the mud a few times.
Lonnie Chesser is my grandfather, and the father of this race winner, Eddie Chesser, driver of The Outlaw. The first Outlaw was Lonnie’s. My family has been building buggies for many years. It’s awesome to see other people love this sport as much as we do!
@@4747-u2r to be fair, a lot of South Florida water levels are dependent on rain. You can go from 6 feet to 6 inches in a second. As a native Floridian, there have been a few times I've beached a jet ski and some promod tires would have been big help. 😂
Used to watch swamp buggy racing on tv in the mornings on weekends as a kid! Forgot all about it. This is EPIC! We need a way to influence gen z and beyond to bring racing back! Gotta stop all these track closures😢
It was TNN The Nashville Network for me . As a kid into all things cars growing up in the "80's, even in Inglewood, Ca good Ole' TNN was the channel of choice since it had all the rad car races and shows!! even the M.M.B. races.
Grew up in Naples and went to every single race growing up! You wouldn’t think a high class city like Naples would have these types of races and we keep them hidden for our enjoyment! Thank you for coming out!
Haven’t seen the swamp buggies in a lining time. They’ve gotten faster and just way more awesome! Thanks 1034 videos. Love all your Motorsport coverage!
I remember watching this when I was younger. I thought they stopped doing it. Thanks 1320 for showing this. Now I know to find it and start watching it again. God bless.
Awesomeness . I lived in "Golden Gate" (in Collier County, Fl.) and used to drive a little down the road to watch the buggies here at least twice a year. That was from around '88-'92. Great fun, great people and just all around great times ! Thanks for bringing back the good memories !
Awesome that you are covering this sport! I remember my dad and I watching Steve Evans coverage years ago. Glad to see it’s still a “thing” and I hope your coverage increases the interest. I will definitely let my gear head buddies know it’s coverage is back and on 1320!
I commented this before, but you guys should shoot the tractor pull this year in Bowling Green Ohio August 17th 18th and 19th). The unlimited class has up to 5 blown alcohol engines that have a total HP of around 12-15000. That's right thousand. It's a must watch and most of the guys would welcome interviews and cameras.
Im so glad they are still doing this. The first time I saw it, 25 years ago, had to have been the first time my dad got cable. We still had vhs camcorder, and my dad used it like a vcr to record ESPN2 late at night, and I would watch it with him the next day. I had never seen anything else quite like it
I've been wondering if this sport was still going on. I figured it was but I remember watching this on TV when I was a kid. Wether it was on ESPN or something I loves it. Thanks for the ride down memory lane👍
Growing up in California in the 90s I remember watching Swamp buggies racing on Tv and i remember they would always show swamp buggy racing right after the Swamp Thing Cartoon from 1991 who had a super awsome Swamp buggy in the show. i just remeber one day they stopped showing swamp buggy racing then more motor sports slowly died off. i think this is the coolest thing ever to see there still doing Racing. i really hope you guys get to return for another event. i cant think of a cooler motorsport for kids other then monster trucks
If you have never been there in person to watch that at least once in your life, you have not lived! It is indeed a great time if you are into motors or racing at all!
I remember watching these on the Nashville Network back in the early 90’s. This was the reason I went to Naples Florida back in the day. I still vacation there. It’s a great sport.
So glad you guys made it! Did you see the Red Bull video before last year's Miami GP where they had Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda drive the two branded buggies?
I remember watching Swamp Buggy racing on either ESPN or TNN and it was always a blast to watch. These still look similar to the ones I remember from 20+ yrs ago, but boy are they faster.
First time i watched one of these races was in 1995 i was on a month long RV vacation with my family, we stayed some place in Nevada and it was on TV. 13 yr old me was amazed.
The guy explaining everything, Could not have done a better job, Thank You brother for making sense of all this !! BTW< Love 1320 Guys, Been following forever !!!
I remember watching swamp buggy racing on American Sports Cavalcade in the 80's and 90's. My favorite buggy was called Shagnasty. Still just as much fun to watch.
You guys should cover the Chili Bowl in Tulsa. In the middle of January. Dirt track racing inside an expo center a whole week straight. The final day all 300+ cars race, they start at like 8am and race all day until 12am
I want YOU to come back. O saw this back in the "60's and it was cool then. It's great to know it's survived. We need to make the loops a figure "8" and bigger so the inside lane isn'tt always the winner.
I remember watching this as a kid at my father's house. Glad y'all keep doing different motorsports at times. Next on my bucket list for ya is ultimate hill climb. That is truly crazy!
DAMN that is incredible. Yet again, something I've never heard of, but probably would have followed my whole life if I had known about it. Rednecks are just the coolest damn people on the planet.
Man my aunt use to record this on vhs and send them back east so i could watch something cool other then cbc. Man you just brought me back a long time Awesome video! Soo much better then i remember. Thx boys 👊
That was awesome. I have heard of swamp buggy racing but have never seen it before. Thank you for introducing it to the rest of us. Can’t wait for the next one.
I remember watching swamp buggy racing 30 or so years ago on tv with my dad all the time as a kid. Pretty awesome to see some coverage of this on here 💯
When there was decent TV, I watched it religiously. The jeeps have taller tires than the did indy late 80s. Chesher family has as you say, been around for a long time. They were the one's to beat back then. They used to top sportsman 4wd class
Awesome! We live a few miles from the track, so much fun. George Grech III is one of the best drivers I know. There used to be a Go-Kart track and a shooting range right next door, but some property developers decided is was too much fun and they did away with them.
i wanna see 1320video, go and see Icelandic style, Formula Offroad racing, with their twin turbo, Ford V8's, 1600HP, AWD, paddle tires, and NOX, to get over the water parts, without sinking! everything, should be very new to u there, too :)
