@@cloudpandarism2627 THAT i understand because i feel the same i can't listen to abusing motors i just cant but in this case.. there is no love for the engines its just parts, money, satisfaction.. and rich people are just gonne be rich and dumb you know this
@@cloudpandarism2627 You are so biased and jealous its funny. I was in the event at LIWA, matter of a fact, I am from the country that hosts the event, UAE. (4 times I have been at the event) No one gets paid minimum wage first of all, the "workers" who does all the tuning work and welding dont get paid minimum wage, fun fact, most of them actually own these cars, they tune it and let a team member drive, or they drive it them self's. Also, nothing costs millions of dollars, its not a formula race, its an event with prizes and people participate to win and get a reputation which will eventually boost the sponsors and the garage's name that tuned the vehicle, which makes this event even more profitable for the tuners. Emergency vehicles and staff respond 24/7 and the fastest time possible, if you compare responses in USA you will see it is faster here, its just the one clip which you saw where they took long wasn't even long, as you can see emergency polaris was already there but the fire extinguisher wasn't enough so they called for the other polaris which had better equipment, also dont forget that the vehicle was burning high in the hill and not in the street. If you visit liwa, you would see how professional the police and emergency staff there, they are everywhere and very responsive.
@@cloudpandarism2627 it’s funny you think they do this to entertain a few rich spectators. They do it because they love racing, they simply do it on a giant sand hill. No different than what we do in the US. We take 200-300 thousand dollar trucks and destroy them in mud holes, we also take million dollar drag cars and rebuild the 200 thousand dollar engines after every 3sec pass.
Nice Coverage Peter. Just a clarification for everyone, this hill climb competition is 300 meters & 50 degrees. They prepare for this race day since a long time (1 year) as it takes place every 1 year end of December in the middle of the desert in Liwa Oasis (Empty Quarter UAE side) Prizes are valuable (every 1st winner in each category gets a new Nissan Patrol Y61) plus a cash prize for the first three places in each category. That’s why “some” don’t run an air filter, they come to this race with spare engines, transmission, axles, driveshaft, etc just like when you go to a drag race competition everything can happen. Most cars belongs to workshops & some have sponsors. Every workshop/team have to proof himself in this competition & for UAE this race is the most popular (there is drag races, drift, 1/2mile race, etc everything comes to your mind) but sand race is different for us, people come all the way from Oman & Saudi Arabia to this event, there is also straight sand drag. N/A Category most cars run TB48 engine (Nissan Patrol inline 6) and its stroked from 4.8L up to +6.5L (by using a longer stroke crankshaft from 102mm to 130mm & up to 142mm) and running methanol fuel + big camshafts + Nitrous , etc so it makes a lot of power. Even without Nitrous, a stroked naturally aspirated high compression TB48 can make more than 550whp with race fuel.
@@upurkilt7246 Not really, they were obviously not equipped enough to put out a full blown car fire. You call a small hose on an atv and some fire extinguishers sufficient at an event like this? Maybe you’re ironic.
@@bj6469 yea, i do considering nhra events and near enough all drag events and drag strips in america only have a pickup truck with a hose on it and some fire extinguishers. Are you really expecting these lads to have a full-blown fire engine trying to get up a sand dune?
I don't think I've ever seen a race where this many vehicles break...immediately. Like, not after a few runs... literally drive a few feet and burst into flames/explode/dump all fluids. Fascinating.
Amazing video Peter! You are the only one that makes these movies educational and intresting due to the information about classes/tires/engines etc. No music, just pure sound and no fancy editing, Keep up the good work!
The number of engines that immediately detonated, and lack of rollcages was all somewhat surprising. It's like they threw the engines together, gave em all the boost and fuel, then just ran them at full tilt without tuning them.
These cars make well over 1500hp som are 2500+ too the 4 tyres and no grip and high rpm off course it will blow up some times and there's a rollcage under the fiberglass body and we put a lot of money into these cars sum team's put in hundreds of thousands into these cars but mistakes happens
@@mbt8545 Gasoline engines are easily kept in a safe rpm limit with ignition control boxes and I'm not a diesel guy, but there must be ways to govern "over-rev" thru injector cutoffs at too high an rpm. (?) I wouldn't want to blow my motors up over a simple fix.
Love this! I really like your explanation at the beginning. It was brief and helpful. I’d love some commentary from one of the teams. I’d love to hear about their approach to the hill, why they don’t use paddle tires or cut lugs off of tires, vehicle power estimates, builds, etc. It seems like the approach is either go or blow up!
This is briliant ! and safe ! Americans break too much bones with dragster racing. These Racing drivers all walked away from the crash ! And explosions. And roolovers and breaks and all. This is Brilliant.
dunno but i bet its stock :D i mean stock body, stock diff/trany/engine, and by that i don't mean stock stock, but engine/trany that come in car must be kept, but you can upgrade it (straight gears, better diff insert, fully build engine, adding turbo/nitrous... probably also street legal cars)
Great video as always, i would like to see follow up videos with commentary/pit walk trough.. most ppl in comments don't get what it takes to compete at this level.. all these comments about engines failing, bad tunes etc. grinds my gears for real..
great video of this crazy event 👍 The Subzero cars look great. Always a shame to see the emergency crews being slow and inadequate. Glad no one got hurt, beside some bruises. 18:00 Motec 1212 or 1812 but Fueltech sponsor/distributor? 🤣🤣 Great eye catching that Thanks Peter
heh, same i used chatgpt few days ago to calculate for me cost of going there :D it said it would be expensive, so it would make more sense for me to build car like that (patrol/hilux with tb48/1fz)
These trucks are freaking amazing I think their drivers need to start keeping up with them Skill level of trucks 10 skill level of most drivers there 6 gotta bring it up fellas
Its hard to control the wheel on sand and don't forget the tyres bounce a lot. Its jumping thats why some engines blow up... Its like traction on and off. So suspension setup is so important here.
I think if they switched over to paddle tires and that would allow the tires to dig in and stop the High R.p.m.'s that are blowin the motors.. Happy new year 🎉
Just a mad event as always. I do have to wonder how these guys can have all that cash to splash on engines but cant afford some fireproof gloves or in fact any fire gear that is adequate for the engines they are running. I'd be in full top fuel spec fire gear especially when you consider how long it can take for the fire crew to arrive.
Tjenare Peter, Undrar, kan man bara köpa biljetter för att gå på sånthär? Hade vart jävligt kul och jag brukar vara i Dubai pga affärsresor så kan resa runt i mellanöstern ganska fritt
