I took the Honda Trail 90 out to test her readiness for adventure. 100 kilometers of highway, backroad, gravel, dirt, and mud. This trip helps me assess performance and measure top speed and gas tank range. Next week, I'll take Sid's Trail 125 through the same course and compare. Be sure to check back for that video! How did the CT90 do? Is it ready for the adventures we have planned?
I've spent a couple of months tinkering with this vintage CT90. I did some cosmetic preservations, but also made a few repairs: adjustments to the brakes and added a new carb. I'm taking it out on the route I frequently use as a shake-out run. I'm used to riding bigger adventure bikes like my GS1200 or DRZ400. All of my experience with power may work against me. In its 43-year life, this little bike has done more sitting than being pushed hard. I needed to check off this route close to home before I take it on any trips.

The bike really does run nice…and when you think about it being over 40 years old ..it’s a pretty amazing motorcycle.

I hadn’t thought of it in years. The crew I rode bikes with in high school sure was fun. I’m amazed we got away with half our shenanigans.

@@BestoftheBackroads Those were funner and simpler times. Looking forward to your CT90 & CT125 's adventures. Have to ask, which seat out of the two is more comfortable?
@BestoftheBackroads
@BestoftheBackroads 2 года назад
@@findingneutral the CT90 has a more comfortable seat. However the seating position is more comfortable on the 125. It's about six inches longer than the 90 and that makes a difference on your leg position.

Got a 74 a few months back. Using the low range on the gearbox will allow me to climb most anything.

A trip would be fun. I'll put that on a maybe come spring. We could split the distance and plan a weekend camping and riding Trail90s trip.

I was cleared by my medical team yesterday and I'm ready to hit the Trails next week! Let's do this! This video of the practice route gives me confidence. Although, I'm sure you'll look cooler on it than I will... maybe we should switch bikes on the tricky parts so I can SEE what my little Trail is capable of? (note: they are all tricky parts to me)

Excellent video and review. I own a '81 CT110 myself and it's got a little more power but otherwise it's about the same. However, I humbly request that you might change the beginning of the title to "100km". I was shocked to see that you weren't going 100,000 miles or kilometers on your Honda. I quickly realized my mistake, but was again shocked that you weren't -280 degrees Farenheit on your Honda.

You won’t be disappointed in the Trail 125. It’s a fun little bike. I am lucky enough to have access to both the 125 and CT90. The CT90 is a cool nostalgia ride and I have lots of love for it. The Trail with the newer technology is just better if you’d have to make a choice between the two.

@@BestoftheBackroads ... I'm glad you said that.. I've been wondering if I should just buy a good used ct90... But the new trail 125 has lots of rave reviews..
@pujabelgian
@pujabelgian 11 месяцев назад
I heard that from someone who owned a ct90 for years then bought a trail 125 mainly bc of constant maintenance and being 6v. She said about the new 125, 1st is too tall, the bike is much heavier and no hi/low range which she used a lot, then maybe of less importance, the 90 has swivel bars.
