Brisco looked so green in his first matches I started to think him being from the Brisco family was a complete fabrication. Either they pushed him out of developmental way too soon or he just didn't have the snuff.

I think I saw Wes on HannibalTV and he looked like he was off cycle and down on his luck. His wife loves him dearly and he barely wanted to talk about wrestling. He didn't look druggy, just...off. Thats why I cant really ride him too hard. Im 47 wirh adult children . I cant go along just to get along, but I know its just tongue in cheek to everybody else, but not to him, his family or his wife. People act he killed someone just because his wrestling was admittedly subpar to nearly any era. But thats hardly a reason for sites to demonize him. He didnt take a spot at WrestleMania or kill his family, he was just a musclehead who tried wrestling. Not the first, not the last. Dude just tryna live his life

Congrats on Graceland, Marky. Honestly, I always thought Bischoff was worse than Brisco. At least Brisco came from a family of actual wrestlers and had a better look than Bischoff.
Coming from a family of wrestlers and still being terrible actually makes Wes far worse. Eric Bischoff, while he did wrestle a few matches and is a former WCW Hardcore Champ, wasn't actually a wrestler, certainly not compared to the likes of Gerald Brisco. Garrett doesn't really qualify as a second generation wrestler. Eric influenced the industry to an extent that very few ever have but not as a wrestler.
I'm going to say the same thing I said about Bischoff, had they been developed more off camera and not thrown under the bright lights of Impact, I think both would have been really solid guys. Both got better as time went on, but had they had more time off our screen to develop character and skill, we'd probably remember them more fondly. Shame but oh well
The crazy thing is, had Brisco and/or Bischoff actually trained/be willing to be trained with someone, they’d probably do fairly well…it seems like they had most of the basics down…tho they definitely needed a mouthpiece ala Heyman or even like, Sinister Minister… Thanks for subjecting yourself (and us) to the “pleasure” that was Wes Brisco…

Honestly him and Garrett being in Aces and 8s was a good idea on paper but the fact he was just so terrible really brought down the groups mystique as well. He should have been kicked to the curb way earlier especially since he wasnt ready in the slightest. I know his dad and uncle were a lot to live up to and hes not the only one to get out of the shadow but honestly he is so bad. Hes also engaged to Red Velvet just thought that was interesting

I thought it was hella obvious back in 2012 that Wes was the masked aces and eights member. Like the hair and those beady little eyes were a dead giveaway
The Aces and Eights storyline lasted about 8 months from what I remembered. While this video is mainly about Brisco, it also shows how ridiculously dumb some of the matches were booked back then. I managed to endure through it all but I know a couple of friends who gave up on TNA by that point. Truly the darkest period of TNA's (once proud) history.
Do you know what's annoying; Both Wes and Garrett had potential. Wes should've had the wrestling pedigree. And being the son of Eric, you'd think Garrett was born to hold a microphone. Could've been mainstays in the X-Division. It's like they just didn't take to wrestling

Unpopular take - Wes Brisco wasn't really that bad, just kind of mediocre and existed in one of the most poorly booked eras in TNA's existence. He certainly wasn't good, but I've seen too many wrestlers that are basically walking botch machines to call Brisco notably bad. Dude was really weak when it came to presentation with his "angry" look being a laugh riot... the acting was on par with a 2nd grader trying to look mad for attention. But he was at least capable of the most basic things inside the ring. Looked to be relatively safe to work with, his timing was generally acceptable, knew where to be(for the most part), could run the ropes... honestly just came off as a typical graduate from a good wrestling school that probably did(almost certainly did) get the job due to nepotism. It looks like he was taught the technical "wrestling" stuff well enough to at least get by... where they could have worked around his deficiencies in the ring while bringing him along... but where nobody had taught him the first thing about anything else. In his defense though, his dad was really mediocre on the mic too. One of those territory guys who said "let me tell you what" and "i've got something to say" approximately 17 times a minute. And Jack Brisco's matches were also a parade of headlocks, toeholds and armdrags; but he did have a presence and generally told a coherent story during his matches.

The funny thing about the Internet is that it’s reactionary and something will be blown up as “Omg guys it’s the worst ever, it’s the drizzling shits!” And then hindsight sets in and you see it everyday on this channel, you look back and go “oh wait no that was actually pretty good and the Internet wresting fans just shit on it because that’s all they do.” We see it a lot with AEW now
He needed a couple years on the indies, attend some seminars, and just wasn't ready for National TV. you're right, he was a basic, decent, graduate from a good school. He was passable, and at this point in his career would've only been midcard of the indy attached to his school if he wasn't someone's son.
