I've even heard of people putting alcohol there to get more drunk than normal but it's ended with a lot of deaths from alcohol poisoning because it gets absorbed much faster than usual.

Thats only half of the story. While it does get absorbed much faster, it never travels through the liver, so the bad parts are never cleared away ^_^
