The fact that it plays loops quantised in time with one another, stores and plays midi files and makes multi samples makes this a perfect machine for me.
Excellent video, thank you! This sampler just gets better all the time. Been saving my pennies for a long time for this, hopefully soon. I will be adding my own recorded samples to my jams using my steel, nylon and electric guitar, voice and analog synths. Some will be samples others phrases of looped chord progressions. The creativity of my synth jams are going to go through the roof!!!
I hope this will be helpful when i watch it a couple more times. At the moment i dont understand why i need midi (i have no midi to cv converter in my modular) when i want to make a multisample of some modular sounds.
Very cool and informative..It's amazing just how little 101 puts into marketing their products and how they rely on other to do the selling for them. Which I get but..seems a bit backwards. is it possible to set a key and scale to the samples. I struggle with second guessing myself about pitch.
thanks for the video. Can you load up folder of pre-recorded multisample (say from a sample cd) or do you need to manually create the multisample patch?
The BlackBox will be my second attempt at adding samples to synth jams. I purchased an Akai MPX16, their little $200.00 sampler, it was perfect, a simple sample playback device without sequencing...but...the sound was horrible, could not use it. So I am hoping the BlackBox is much better sound quality (D to A and A to D) digital converters and excellent preamp output section. I know sound is subjective, but how do you rate the record and playback quality? It sound good enough in your video....though we have to listen through RU-vids massive compression scheme. AND, did you get a hot output from the BlackBox, i.e. a professional output level?
Nice modular system you have there. You can actually use a splitter on the out 1 from the blackbox to get cv and gate signals and multi-sample without a midi to cv module
What if I have a multisample already how do you load that as an instrument? I'm starting to sample all of my iPad stuff because I just want to use my iPad as a mixing and mastering studio. I'm tired of the glitches and cpu struggles also I have soooo many apps this will just help me focus on just making music all my sounds in one place!!!! I just got mine in the mail yesterday and love it
Great tutorial! Got my BB two months ago, and just love it. I found on simple synth sounds like used in this tutorial, you can sample one note, middle C (C4) and for 3 octaves the single sample will sound like the original, turn on the quality option to get the best pitch shift and time stretch. It is acoustic instruments/vocals that you NEED the multi's. I am thinking about using a LaunchKey for control of the BB, can you do a tutorial on using the pads of the LaunchKey in sequence mode and turn on and off the 1 thru 16 sequence choices?
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Devon Archie i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
No I don’t. Unfortunately, with a full time job, it’s hard finding time just to make these videos. I wish I could help you out though. There’s some other, more complete, tutorials on the blackbox out there that might help you.
From what I can see in the forums, this is correct. Quoted; “Blackbox still only has 4 voice polyphony per pad and can handle about 16 samples playing at once before it starts to wig out.” This was from August of this year. I’m unaware if there’s been a change since.
@@ModulatedMusik Hmmm ok. Such a bummer, I wanted to replace my Octatrack with this for performance/touring. My hope was to multisample the synths I don't want to lug around but 4 Notes is not enough.
