For today’s video I have another of the unpublished patterns from the original 102 Tangles of Zentangle. Scarabou can be used as a border or a ribbon and I really enjoyed playing with it. I don’t think I’ve seen it used other than in my CZT Zenthology book. After drawing it a few times and looking more closely at the step outs, I started to really like it and I hope to use it more often. The second pattern is called Sampson and it’s a beautiful leaf type pattern. I love the botanical patterns and hope to focus on them again soon.
I first learned about Zentangle when I saw the 102 Tangles of Zentangle poster on display at a local community college. I have been in love with Zentangle ever since, and I have a goal to show all the 102 patterns before my 5-year CZT anniversary in June. The 102 Tangles of Zentangle poster was published in 2009 and can be purchased at Zentangle.com.

Working the s-curve around the pencil line helped me but I'm still hopeless on Scarabou. lol. I'll keep practicing because you made it more reachable for me, with the way you taught it. Adding weight to the veins in Sampson was a brilliant idea! Thank you so much, and have a wonderful week Barbara.

Kelli will be doing botanical flowers (garden) beginning May 1. The Scarabou is a doozie for me. I will have to practice this one. Thanks for sharing.

I’m not keen on either of these patterns. Although I like botanical patterns usually I prefer geometric shapes I think. I’ve done them, I’ll put them in my scrapbook but I doubt I’ll ever draw them by choice again. You can’t like them all suppose!

There are some of these that I may rarely use again, and that’s OK. It’s fun to try them. Thanks for watching! 🥰
