Dash, thank you for your review. Like you, I'm a novice. Just got my 1025r a few weeks ago and I'm actually still waiting on the same grapple you purchased. Like you, I also watched the TTWT vids and that was the reason I 'wanted/needed' a grapple. Going through your struggles on the first time use is exactly what I'm expecting for me. Thank you for making this easy. Nice job on the vid. I've subscribed.

Hi Sean! You are going to love this grapple. I've had nothing but good experiences with it. It took me a moment to get used to it, but I don't suspect you will have any problem getting used to it. It is so much fun to operate. Did you end up having the dealer install the third function valve or did you go the diverter route? Thanks for subscribing!

I agree... I purchased the AV20F when they first came out, along with the factory 3rd function. They didn't have the stops, and the top lid used a round bar. My top lid was replaced with the new style square bar and stops after bending the round bar. Such a great grapple for the money, and seems like I use it just as much if not more than anything else.

Never had a grapple before. I decided to go with the JD AV20f too since the weight was good and I bought the entire JD 1025R with all but one implement (box blade) I needed. I have run all kinds of tractors/ front loaders to include 3 yard Michigan's but never had a backhoe which I need and a grapple which I have never used. I appreciate the info on weights and costs. I thought I could get the grapple, BLT, and rotary mower with trailer as a package. I will be using mine soon as in a month and I know to begin with I will be clumsy too until I get the hang of it. Thanks

I got my grapple and third function all from john deere on my 1025r. I've had it about a month and a half and brushed out my neighbor yard and cut up around 11 cords of woods so far . It speeds the process up bringing full logs back than cutting it all in the woods. I'll probably use it more than my bucket now.

Wow you’ve got some great use out of it so far, Craig! It’s amazing how much a grapple can make work easier. I’ll be cutting some wood in the next few months and can’t wait to get out in the woods with it. How are you liking the third function valve?
@craigbonney7044

@@TheLittleGreenTractor I haven't had any problem with the third function. My only complaint would be it won't raise and open the jaws at the same time. My prices in pa is a lot more than yours my grapple and third function installed was 3300 but they said I needed and extra valve cause I had a backoe on.

i'm sure your first experiences are exactly what i'll do my first times out! nice vid - thanks for showing it off and describing the pro's and con's. I also found Artillian to be very expensive - $5000+ with the pallet rack, forks, diverter kit, and double grapple. Hi Dash. Very good and informative video. I purchased the CTA Attachments 50" grapple a little over a year ago and, for the most part, am satisfied with it. I have a 2004/5 JD 4110 tractor, which I purchased used a few years ago and installed a W R Long diverter. For me, the most important consideration was the weight. Being able to grapple things does take practice and I need to do more of that. It has removable metals panels on the rear of the grapple which protect the front of the tractor from limbs that may accidentally puncture the radiator. But I think they do block the view of what I'm trying to grapple, so I may remove a few of them to see if that helps. I subscribed and look forward to more reviews and videos.
@TheLittleGreenTractor
@TheLittleGreenTractor 4 года назад
Hi, Patrick! Great to hear from you and thanks for sharing your experience with the CTA grapple so far. I debated back and forth between CTA and Frontier since they were so similar. I did not realize the CTA grapple came with panels that protect the radiator and front fascia. That's a great feature. I worry about branches that might puncture a headlight or even tear up a hydraulic line with mine. Keep us posted on your experience with your grapple. If you're willing, tell us more about the WR Long diverter. I am not familiar with it so thank you for sharing. I am going to do some research on it. Do you like it and is it a good fit for your grapple?

I'm looking for a grapple for my 3025E, and your video has helped me a lot with my decision. I was looking at the worksaver electric grapple, but I think this is a better choice for not much more money. Thanks and great job!
@TheLittleGreenTractor
@TheLittleGreenTractor 4 года назад
Thanks for your comments, Tom! In my biased opinion, I think you will like the AV20f grapple much more than the electric worksaver grapple. The only hang up is that with the AV20f you have to add some sort of diverter or 3rd function valve to operate the hydraulic clamp which ultimately adds more cost. But it sure is nice to have such a strong clamping force and wide grapple arm. Whichever option you choose, you will a tremendous amount of fun using it. Happy grappling!

Word of advice check bolts on grappler I lost one on all needed tighting. Also keep an eye on clamp were hoses are on grappler one if mine started leaking bolt not tight let it go back and forth. But I do love this grappler.

Hi Ronald! Now that I've had the gapple for a few months I've been able to get used to it functionality. One barrier that I've had is with the artillian button that comes stock with the kit. It really didn;t work very well. I ordered the artillian knob that comes with the button and have had much better results. What type of diverter/3rd function set up do you have? Great point about the bolts and hose fittings. I never thought of that. I will definitely check mine to make sure they are tight. I appreciate your tips!

The boulder would have taken a minute or two with just the loader. I only plan to using it for brush tho, should work better for that. Summit has the Diverter for $522 shipped with a discount code. What size King Box Blade are you using? I hope to get a New 1025R tomorrow and was wondering should I get the appropriately sized JD Box Blade or keep my old 5ft (maybe 6fter) for lite gravel drive way work and save some money. just wanted to know how yours handles with that box blade.
@TheLittleGreenTractor
@TheLittleGreenTractor 4 года назад
Hello! Congratulations on your purchase! I apologize this reply is beyond the date you may have purchased your new box blade. I would feel comfortable with keeping the 5ft box blade versus downsizing to the 4ft. I think the 4ft is a little too small. The 5ft is a little big for the 1025 in some circumstances, but it is usually due to a lack of weight, not power. If you can add some weight to the tractor you'll handle that 5ft box blade relatively easy.

How do you like your trailer with the high sides? Also is it a 16' trailer? I'm looking at a car hauler trailer 16'. Enough space for the FEL and BH attached on your trailer?
@TheLittleGreenTractor
@TheLittleGreenTractor 3 года назад
Hey Dave! I like my trailer so far. It is indeed a 16’. The sides are the right height for my 1025r. I can clear it with the bucket, and it’s still tall enough to provide a good amount of volume inside the trailer. If you go with a 14ft, you may not be able to fit longer attachments on the trailer without hanging over. I have a rotary cutter and also a rear mount snow blower that add extra length, so the 16ft is about perfect. 18ft is good, too, but sometimes might be too long. Better to have more trailer than not enough, though. Great questions!
