I am producing this video series with my co-instructor, Myla Sunshine, who is a beautiful girl who has low tone and Down syndrome. She lives 250 miles from my house. Her parents were nice enough to allow me, a perfect stranger, to come in and share their daughter with the world. Thank you, again. My name is Amy Sturkey. I am a pediatric physical therapist from the United States. I hope to follow Myla as she develops. I hope to teach ideas to help her learn to move, crawl, sit and walk. I started this video series after questions came in from all over the world from people seeking assistance in helping children with low tone. The ideas I teach in this video are not appropriate for a much weaker child than the one featured in this video. I hope you find this idea useful and simple. A good baby walker can be helpful before they are strong enough to walk by themselves. Yeah, so the walker need to be designed with more choices of height adjustment suitable for different stages of babies. For stairs falling, an anti-skid footpad will help.

Dr what is you opinion about vagus nerve and LMT , child was born through ceaseran delivery. And do you think trauma during birth can cause LMT. And can chiropractor help.

I don’t typically think about low muscle tone, and how that interacts with vagal nerve trauma. Certainly, children who have had difficult deliveries can have damage that caused them to be low muscle tone. I generally am not someone who recommends chiropractic. Other people may have had other results.

Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises I have been able to get my son to start standing on his own so far by using this method. I think he’s getting closer to taking his first steps. He’s 18 months old now so I’m working with him a few times throughout the day. He seems a little scared to move his feet. He keeps bending at the knees to go down into the crawling position. I know he’ll get there.

What age did he started to walk? Cause my daughter now is 17 months old and just like your son 1 years ago. she didn't walk and wants to crawl instead. 😔

Thank you for sharing all these videos and your knowledge I have one question my daughter is 7 years old has spastic diplegia we do sdr operation for her almost 3 years ago now she can make steps but one of her shoulders is higher than the other also she is very afraid if I was not in her back to watch her what is the best way to practice her for waking really seeking for your advice thank you for your time. Dear amy love your videos i have 2 question 1)does cp standing frame help in babies with low tone to learn to stand without support ? and secondly if a toddler who is 2 year 6 month old with low tone can hardly stand for 1 or 2 second without support cannot stand more then 1 or 2 seconds but takes two steps very rarely and falls, can we call these steps his first steps toward walking or a toddler need to learn to stand without supoort first inorder to take his first steps ..?thank you

A stander is recommended for a child who is not sitting independently by nine months, who is not pulling the stand or crawling by 12 months, or who is not walking across the room by two years of age.

I describe walking in phases. I say, when they took their first steps, when they could walk across the room, and when they walk from room to room in the house. So yes, I would count those steps.

Hii my boy is 2 yrs old n diagnosed with low muscles tone he was a premiee 30th weaker baby sit late crawl late and still not walking without support. He didn't stand without support i can sent you his videos n pictures

I am so sorry. It is considered unethical for me to provide treatment recommendations for child I have not personally evaluated. However, I have a lot of videos that hopefully can give you suggestions and ideas to be able to work with your child. This playlist would likely give you the best suggestions. Dear Amy ...very I formative videos ...I wanted to ask you a question my toddler is 27 months old he have low tone muscle he sat when he was 15 then he started crawling when he was 18 month old when he was 2 years old he started to cruise ,now he's 27 month old he can stand without support or walk without support ...I have a question when my son walks with my support his one foot comes in front of other sometime not all the time ...maybe his legs are tired when walking and the legs go every where like he sometime walks straight with my help like holding him from his arms but sometimes it looks like a scissor gait to me khudanakhwaista ....my question is that can a baby with low tone have scissor gait because our therapist checked his legs he said that he don't have stiffness in his legs but why his foot comes infront of other when he walk with my support ...love your work, thank you for helping all the people around the world ....bless you

Unfortunately, it is considered unethical for me to give treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated. I would never want to second-guess a therapist who can evaluate your Child in person. I am happy though that you have a local therapist.

@@pediatricPTexercises dear Amy yes I know I am not asking for a treatment, I just wanted to know that can a child with low tone in his legs have a scissor gait ...I mean if his or her legs don't have that stiffness,because she did checked my toddler tone by bending his legs and feet and she said his legs and feet don't have that stiffness...she told me scissor gait happens when a child legs are stiff,is it true(or she don't want me to worry )? And is it possible that as my toddler is trying to learn to walk with my support soo his legs goes here and there soo they also cross each other sometime...dear Amy I am not asking you to treat my child I am asking like u have seen million of kids and adult soo have u seen a child with not high tone in legs and have a abnormal or scissor gait.....our neaurologist doctor also check my child tone in his legs he said Masha Allah he don't have stiffness or high tone in his legs ,my toddler can cruise and stand with support.....thank you ,bless you
