He is indeed alive today, a year on from this clip. He’s had a tough year. But still goi going. He’s my great uncle/grand uncle. On Good Friday many of his more immediate family made the trek to Perth for a group photo or two. I know he would be thrilled and humbled by all the comments here. While not a direct quote, his general attitude is to not just wake each day and be alive but to actively live each day. ❤
@@ozz3790In this clip Arthur Leggett is saying the ode in the stadium which was named after a Gallipoli veteran. Arthur was not at Gallipoli. I can see how you thought there was a connection though.
It’s incredible to think when he says “They shall not grow old”, he’s talking about people he knew, people he saw dying. Thank you for your service Mr Leggett
Australians were some brave crazy men I’m proud Queenslander and I love reading up on battles like the Kokoda trail and galipoli and other stuff in our history like long tan etc
Hey AFL, surely you could have let the video run a couple of secs longer to see the response to the great man? Seems abit rude to just cut off the clip like that.

One of the very few left from the greatest generation that sacrificed everything for those to come. Bless you mate, you are deeply appreciated and loved.
God bless you Sir & thank you for service. These are men whom defined our countries with there courage and sacrifice. Hero's in our eye's & hearts. As a Canadian I salute you Sir with upmost respect.
Quick note that Gallipoli was fought WW1 not WW2 like the caption implies. This man fought in the first great battle in our sovereign nation’s history. My great uncle fought alongside him, but didn’t make it home.
