I'm really happy they used a female protagonist but they didn't rub it in our faces like "LOOK A STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER" but they treated her as a character alone
see but those tanks were fire powered rather than coal powered, i thought that was kinda cool personally. they have the electricity power plants in korra too. i'm ok with that. it was the same deal with the blimps, since fire benders make fire from nothing, then they can have super armoured blimps immidiately because they have infinate fire power to float them.
I was literally addicted, I grew up with the Avatar universe so when I found out there would be a new girl avater, I saved the newspaper clipping from the newspaper it got in and kept it under my pillow. That's how excited I was xD I tooned in love and found special websites to rewatch episodes. It was my nicotine o.o

Zanaya Hussain Same. Avatar was a HUGE part of my childhood. When my classmate told me that they were making a new Avatar series, I flipped out and threw everything down my desk XD. I literally watched the entire The Last Airbender 4 times and Legend of Korra 2 times. I'm thinking of re-watching it again ^ω^
I know Avatar:Legend of Korra is kinda similair to Avatar:The last airbender but still I like Avatar:The last airbender more cuz I still can't let go that Aang is dead :(
In my imagination all the Avatars and their friends are still alive and happy as spirits in the spirit world. :> I am totally not accepting that anyone of them is dead. :D
The tv series Korra has deep story, amazing art and unique characters. This show should be inspirational too all future cartoon series. But yet they're still Lazy people making shows like Teen Titian Go and new Power Puff Girls, and they have no respect for the cartoon industry. smh.
That is very common in the industry. I've watched a ton of these facts videos of other shows/movies/series that they exec or certain company were worried about a girl character lol
I’m guessing it was for marketing purposes, they wanted a male avatar that young boys would idolize and relate to then buy the action figures. Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of TLOK though.
Usman Hussain the creators broke up because they wanted people to understand that they want to take a break from series. There might be more in the future but for now it's not happening. Plus, nickelodeon screwed this series up.
Isaiah Jones I KNOW!!! i was so bored i couldt finish watching because i was looking forward to know facts about the fictional world.. and what inspired them and blah too but not like who voiced whom thats so easy to find on google! the 107 facts about last airbender video was so good
The show was clearly successful...so why is Nickelodeon being a bunch of Rump Rangers and not making any episodes any longer? I agree, sell the rights to Netflix and continue the series!
Netflix's been focusing too much on live actions series but maybe with Bojack's success they would at least think about dedicating a solid foundation for animation.
I want a new avatar no more Korra. Then this time have the timeline in the 70s or 80s . And not make the main person be such a hard headed screw up who almost messes up the avatar state and have to have ang to fix it and then at the end of the series have them go lesbian cause that wasn't completely obvious
+chilllzone Seriously, especially considering the fact that there were already a couple shows with female leads already on that channel by the time Korra rolled around.
I wish people would stop comparing Korra to The Last Airbender. Yes, it is a sequel, but they are two extremely different shows, Korra being set in a drastically changing and developing world, too much so to really compare. I personally love both shows, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and should both be judged on what they are, not compared against what came before.
+Candice Honeycutt Not entirely true. I watched Korra before The Last Airbender, and found The Last Airbender's story and characters better and more developed.
eating raw faces is my least favorite thing to do. Believe me, I liked both and thought they were great. I just liked TLA better despite seeing Korra first.
Like it or not, TLOK was a beautiful series, I feel like people just hate on it because they are still trapped in the past, it may not have the same charm as the original series but it doesn't suck and it's a great show, I feel the same way about dragon ball z and dragon ball super, super of course doesn't feel the same as dbz but it has its moments and is a well developed series
Nothing will feel the same or be the same as an original. I really appreciated the story. If it had come first or was a stand alone people would love it just as much. And I genuinely loved to SEE how Aang and the group changed the world and in Korra they tackled much more serious topics in my opinion. But I love The Last Airbender for what it was also
This video should be retitled " Guy reads Legend of Korra end-credits". Seriously, like half of these facts are just the names of the voice actors who play the characters...
What is wrong with Nickelodeon? The show was good, it had great ratings. And why on Earth do they think that Protagonists cant be women? IF YOU ARE NOT GONNA FCKIN DO IT JUST GIVE THE RIGHTS TO NETFLIX I WANNA WATCH AVATAR!!!!!! YOU COULD'VE BEEN A LEGEND NICKELODEON.... BUT NOO YOU CUT THE BUDGET AND JUST STOPPED ALL OF IT. YOU ARE THE BAD GUY NOW NICKELODEON (Still praying for another season though.. :))
Red Panda Ferret At least that's what I always thought. I'm mean, the only non-mixed animal was the earth king's bear. However, it was rumored that the earth queen ate it cuz she hates animals.
David Jones I thought Korra was cool but she can't beat the original, epsically since the first one was a coming of age story that I grew up with. While Korra was more of a rebel against society type of thing
Mad¡ha A. When I was young I thought it was garbage bcs I hardly understand it but now I am older now I started to like it.You need to be more mature to enjoy it.
Yeah, totally, there are no traditionally feminine threads shoehorned into this show just for the sake of it **cough**LOVETRIANGLE**cough** Whoa, what was that about.
I hated how they did Kuvira's back story, was extremely underwhelming......she should have been the secret child of Suyin and Zaheer as they did have a pic of those two together in the circus shown in Suyin's house which would suggest they at least knew each other, hell Kuvira has same eye shape as Zaheer, but no, no connection at all Kuvira was just some earthbender orphan trying to get back land that was originally Earth Kingdom territory, just so dull
Ryan Red They only ordered one season initially so they couldn’t make an overarching storyline across multiple seasons. Then they did the same for book 2 but not for 3 and 4.
Korra didn't get cancelled. It just ended. When a show revolves around a story and that story is over, then that means that the show will conclude as well. The plan for Bryke and Nickelodeon was always to have 4 books of Korra and Bryke could put the story that they wanted to portray into those 4 seasons. It was never cancelled. It just concluded with its story like all great shows with a great story eventually do.
But LOK was almost cancelled in a way, is what I think the OP meant. Nickelodeon did halt S1 production of LOK when they found out the lead was a female, so if it wasn't for Bryke and the animation studio standing their ground against Nickelodeon, who knows what would've happened to LOK. And technically, the plan for this series was originally just supposed to be a 12 episode mini-series. It wasn't until after S1 gained much popularity that Nickelodeon decided to order another season and later after that, two more seasons.
It's funny how analysis on Korra is most of the time ignorant of the facts displayed in this vid. Pleople should now how Nickelodeon treated Korra, and the battle between the creative team and the business,. It's so interesting to see the insides of the show. How many awards and the difficulties.
My favorite character was probably Asami. She was gorgeous, she was cool, and despite not even bending any elements, she was still awesome in fights. With just one of those electricity gauntlets she convinced anyone who dared to cross her that she is no damsel in distress! She reminded me a bit of Ironman, except as a girl who was like Black Widow. She was rich, beautiful, used technology for powers, and was multi-talented. I was so happy to see her and Korra actually become a canon couple at the end. I just wish I could've seen more of what happens after they go into the Spirit World together. It's wonderful that they are a couple, but I wanted to SEE them as a couple....
That comment just made me stop for a second and enter into a flashback. Holy crap, I haven't seen that show in literally a good 6-7 years, I wonder what happened to it?
+Wake N Bake At first I thought book three was why it was taken off the air. I mean the way Zaheer killed the Earth Queen was just...horrible. I literally can't think of a worse way to kill someone that doesn't involve a lot of gore.
+AlphaXNephilim I was about to give you an example but you said no gore lol. Although when he poisoned Korra was pretty terrible and had she died it would have been a devastating death.
+AlphaXNephilim they were both pretty brutal tbh and I was surprised they even showed it on nick or even the website. I like the brutality though (not on the weird kind of way) because as we grew up from avatar so did the franchise. AtLA and TLoK are truly masterpieces. love them both to death.
+Hassan Zahid I know, it was a major step forward, and like I said, I thought that was why it was taken off the air. But no, it was because Nickelodeon thought no one liked a female protagonist.
I would say this is my ranking 1.) Book 3 - Best villains, amazing plot, best fight scenes in the show, awesome ending. More OMG moments, and amazing cliffhanger at the end. 2.) Book 4 - Slightly less awesome villian, and better character development than 3, but still not as good animation and fight scenes. But I love the well-deserved ending to this masterpiece and Korra's look throughout this season. 😍😍😍 3.) Book 1- Meh, there's not much to say about this one, it's just not as good as 4 or 3 but doesn't stoop to the level of 2, but it is the season that brought us this show. I don't really dislike any of the seasons except for 2, and even then I enjoyed the last 3 episodes. The first season of a show is rarely the best anyway, so I don't focus too much on this one. ... 4.) Book 2 - It almost made me drop the show. 😂- Awful villian, interesting plot but just handled poorly. Confusing villian motives. Serious lack of 'in the feels moments' Only one good fight scene through the whole thing...So glad Season 3 kept me here till the end.
Korra was a freaking amazing show, and I love Korra as a protagonist. She was strong physically but inside she was still a teenaged girl with much to learn. By book 4 she had matured a lot,to the point where she was even able to admit to herself she had a lot to learn but she would always try her best to maintain balance. Nickelodeon just sucks and treated the show horribly and didn't see what a great show they had, they wanted to balme the show for low ratings but it was really all their fault. Premote the show right and air it at a good time for everyone to watch and the show would've had fantastic ratings. Regaurdless I adore avatar and Korra and I just wish we got to have more of her.
Rakeem Beckett-Scott Thanks,I love both Avatar and Korra but for those who don't like Korra need to remember she was never meant to be Aang 2.0. She's her own avatar with a firey spirit all her own.
Same. The whole Red Lotus group was really interesting. Not to mention, Korra's epic strength when combating the poison and recovering for years with physical therapy.
To be completely honest... I kind of want a season of "The Legend of Kioshi"... It would be interesting seeing what was going on then... Especially the forming of the Kioshi warriors. Or maybe a prequel to the last airbender... "The Legend of Roku"... See how the war all started you know..
+Scott Penton Actually it'd be fact 1: The series creator got his inspiration for the series from his love of puzzles and games. Seriously dude read the manga, there's like four or five volumes of stuff before they permanently settled on the card game aspect.
+Melinda Tudgey yes yes yes!! yugioh! I need this! Even though I probably know all the fact... haha it would be perfect for the anniversary and the new film!!
+PeterWatchesTheWatchmen yep. Remember when that crazy girl locked them out in the basement? Before that, she had her birthday party, There was a girl And a guy talking to her, she caressed his hair And then kissed the girl for some reason xs
***** no I just don't think it's as good. It lacked a central villain Korra had some really good ones but not like zuko Azula and Ozi. I didn't like the setting with the technology. Korra always seemed to lose. And as a personal thing I hated how they made her gay all of the sudden they should have made her gay from the beginning or not at all.
HG Shurtugal she was bi and tbh not everyone knows their sexuality at first, so that made it a bit more realistic. It was a bit sudden and came out of nowhere, so I get where your coming from.
+HG Shurtugal Korra isn't gay, she's Bi. There's even a part in the show where she's at a market and she says she's "i guess you could say I'm bi-curious"
***** She probably would have been my favorite character but, After season one, they didn't really do anything with her character other than the Suyin plotline in season 3, aand even then, her character never really changed. She still acted the same. In contrast, Tenzin and Korra change drastically, they are constantly learning and doing new things to progress their character in a believable way.
@@emileecash9406 one guy named Kanto or something and and another mysterious person people think it's sokka since suyin and her children have similar features
Rewatching Korra this summer inspired me to start working out. She’s so tough and strong and it actually has helped me get into a routine that I have yet to break
I liked Korra more! Less fillet and a more straight and deep plot with far more emotion and despair for our main character. But I won't say it's objectively better. Just my opinion.
guyjojoto2 I don't mean to be serious, it's just that her mother was killed by a firebender, and look at her face! It was either a coincidence or an easter egg...
here, I searched it up for you in the avatar wiki: "The culture of the Water Tribes, as well as their location in the polar regions of the world, is primarily based on the real-life Inuit and Sireniki cultures. ". And come on, they all live in freaking igloos, it's pretty hard to see the resemblance to Native Americans excluding the skin tone that they both share. Hope that ends this debate
I'm not denying the fact that the creators took inspiration from aboriginal Australians and from native Americans, and there's a debate to be had if Korra resembles native Americans, personally i don't think so, but you can hold whatever opinion you want to, but it was not the point i was originally trying to make. What I was trying to say was that she, like the both tribes, are undoubtedly Inuit, even if the creators took inspiration from different cultures.
***** I don't know tbh, It just is. I think the love between Adrien and Marinette and the fact that don't know who each other are in superhero form helps most of its popularity but I think the principle of the show is magnificent as well. The animation is beautifully done and the characters are diverse and not falling into their stereo typical boxes. Something just gets you when you watch it, It's hard to describe. Hope this helped you
Korra had a great foundation and very colorful characters but lacked the depth and time to create and actually tell a significant story. I'm not sure if it's Nick to blame or the staff. It seemed rushed and focused on other things that just weren't clicking. The character development we all loved from ATLAB just wasn't there. Nonetheless a very interesting and yet still entertaining take on korra. Hopefully some day they take their time to retell the story right in the near future. Still enjoy myself sum Korra (tho I think Aang was better).
Asami would've been 100x better as an antagonist. I would've liked that. I always thought something was sinister about her appearance. When I watched Season 1 for the first time I thought she was gonna be evil. She could've totally been the new Azula FeelsBadMan
Fun fact not mentioned, Asami's design was also based off of Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist. So much so the shade of lipstick was supposedly pulled directly from the character.
I am surprised that the show was almost pulled because the protagonist, Korra, was a girl. I am glad that the boys in the focus group said they didn't care if she was a girl & that the show was awesome anyway. It's bullshit that Nickelodeon tried pulling it because she wasn't a male, why would it matter?
