Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney movie, it's such a beautiful movie, from start to finish. It's a shame we don't have this type of high quality craftsmanship in animation nowadays. I actually prefer hand drawn animation over CGI. CGI animation looks so fake and unrealistic, whereas hand drawn looks more real because people have to draw everything and make is as real as possible.

Two scenarios I would have liked to see for the color of the dress: Merryweather and Flora making the dress purple as a compromise (which would have gone with Aurora's eyes) or Fauna being absolutely done with their petty bickering and saying "Make it green," and scolding them both for fighting when they should be thinking of what would make Aurora happy, and them being too stunned to say a word or change the color of the dress again.

Anyone else think the font in the thumbnail made it look like "107 Farts"? xD

To this day a part of me gets a little scared everytime I see Maleficent. That is the power of a true villain.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS -- Sleeping Beauty was my favourite Disney Princess film when I was little and even though Beauty and the Beast has become my favourite Disney Princess film as an adult it still has a special place in my heart. Oh, and Maleficent is bar none the best Disney villain :)

Fun fact : Sleeping Beauty 1959 is actually an adaptation of the Tchaikovsky ballet Sleeping Beauty ( 1889 ) ... The plot has way too many similarities with the ballet ...From the villain being more on the center ( unlike the book were she disappears after the prologue ),to the princess being named Aurora ( that was her name in the ballet,which is a reference to the Perault's second half of the tale where the princess has two kids named Aurora and Dawn ) to the evil fairy herself being involved with the fulfilling of the curse to the battle at the end ... .Originally the film was going to be based on the Fairytale but later that idea was scrapped ... The only thing in common with the books is the name the fairies call Aurora ( Rose ) ,which is a reference to the Grimm's version where the princess is named Briar Rose.A lot of people wrongfully thing that Aurora is the protagonist ... The story is between Carabosse ( the evil fairy ) and the Lylac Fairy ,who altered the curse from death to sleep ... A detail invented by the Tchaikovsky ballet which gave structure to the previously structuraless story ... The movie protagonists are the three good fairies ( more specifically Flora ) VS Maleficent ... They are the ones that truly save the day ... Phillip and Aurora are plot devices ... As much as I love the movie,I will acknowledge that it isn't perfect ... The romance between Aurora and Phillip is underdeveloped ,a result of an almost ten year long helish production ... Despite it's problems it's the definitive film version of the Fairytale ,even though film version of the tale existed since the early 40's and well after Walt Disney's version ... If you want to look at an adaptation done wrong take a look at Disney's the Little Mermaid ( 1989 ) . The changes they made to the story do more harm than good,Ariel lacks the depth that her book counterpart has ... I understand that they had limited time to make the film and the success of the movie was crucial for the studio ... It's also Jeffery Katzenberger 😂 that no doubt pushed it to be more family friendly ... As he did with the Black Cauldron ( he was a big reason as to why the movie failed ) ... As he also did with Pocahontas .Originally visioned to be more accurate to the historical events ,but Jeffery Katzenberg pushed it to be again more family friendly ,ruining the film in the process ... I would personally love to see how Disney would do a more historically accurate Pocahontas ... They could make the Little Mermaid similar to the book and give it a happy ending ( I know that goes against the core theme of the book ,but as long as they had the whole " Sacrificing yourself when you truly love someone " part and then bringing her back to life for a happy ending that would be fine with me . They robbed the female protagonist of her character arch and gave it to her father ... They did the same with Beauty and the Beast,but the difference is that the curse of the beast is an important question that needs an answer. In the book versions ( Yes the story has a lot of version across time ) the explanation of the beast's curse is very flimsy at best . In Beauty and the Beast they kinda had no option,and the movie has a strong narrative ... In the Little Mermaid however ... In my opinion the movie has a very underwhelming plot and characters especially when compared to the book ...

When I was a kid I always loved sleeping beauty or as we call it in germany, Dornröschen, I even always played to be her. I always walked around with a princess crown on my head and a plastic rose in my hand. Everyday for maybe 2 and a half years. Even my room was full of the princess. She will always take a special place in my heart.

I just watched Sleeping Beauty and there are alot of stuff about it that bothered me. Prince Philip and Aurora are both supposed to be the main characters of the story and they hardly get any screen time. It's like the fairies(Who I rather see as comic relief characters) do all the work. I mean I love the premise but they really should've put more emphasis on Aurora and Philip

Happy 58th anniversary to my favorite Disney Movie ever. This movie is so wonderful, the backgrounds look more realistic than computer animation, the characters are amazing, especially Aurora. She is my favorite Disney Princess. I know many of you disagree to my opinion but she has way more personality than you think. Just because she had a lack of dialogue, screen time, and seen sleeping throughout the second half that doesn't mean she has no personality. They say that "Don't judge a book by it's cover." So don't judge a Fictional Character like that. I also know that feminists hate this movie but I don't care about them. I will never stop loving this movie.

The MG also made a sleeping beauty live action (which I had and loved to death) it featured many tales of the tale (not the grim tale though) and was heavily inspiring for me. Sadly there was no songs but ti still was a beautiful movie. (It was pitched with Hansel and Gretel and Rumpelstiltskin!)

Actually in the original version of the story Sleeping Beauty is raped by a king (who was hunting at the time and found her home in the woods) while she was asleep and became pregnant with the two children. There was no Prince either.
