Tom and Jerry is the greatest cartoon ever created. Anyone that denies that is lying to themselves. It's the greatest, not because of it's gripping story, or amazing character development. But simply because of how timeless it is and how many people it appeals to regardless of their age. Hell, my mom barely watches TV, but even she loves watching Tom and Jerry with me. The show is Timeless and shall go down in history as such.
you actualy got a little fact wrong: Mommy two-shoes is NOT the maid, she is the OWNER of Tom and the house. There are several scenes showing she is the owner (aside from, you know, the lack of ANY OTHER human being in the house...)
Also The Tom and Jerry Movie release date should have been July 30 1993 in the US and October 1 1992 in Germany and the last short was 1967 not 1968 unless they were referring to another short MGM did in 1968
Watched it a lot back as a kid, still watch a lot now. Forever one of my childhood shows next to a lot of CN and other cartoon classics. And like the video said, you're never too old to watch Tom & Jerry.
My 5th grade band teacher worked on the sound effects of Tom And Jerry. He said that he and other men would play a musical instrument to go with a scene like the xylophone whenever Tom fell down the stairs or the saxophone if Jerry went "na na na na." The only thing he didn't say was which decade of cartoons he worked on. He got fired from the job for being late because he got stuck in an elevator at the studio for over an hour. As of now, he still teaches band for 5th graders and high schoolers
#108: According to some, the Tom & Jerry in "Tom & Jerry Kids" aren't the original duo as children, but their sons. Tom Jr. & Jerry Jr. #109: Tom Jr. also has a twin brother named Tim. So Tom actually has 2 sons, while Jerry only has one. #110: The voices of the cat & mouse in "Tom & Jerry the Movie" were provided by Richard Kind (Bing Bong from "Inside Out) & the late Dana Hill (young Max Goof from "Goof Troop" ) respectively. #111. The very last Tom & Jerry cartoon from the Hannah Barbera era was said to be, "Blue Cat Blues," which caused a lot of controversy of a suicide theme.
All of those are true except the last one Blue Cat Blues was NOT the last Tom and Jerry cartoon from the Hanna-Barbera era. There were 2 more years of shorts after that. I'm sick of people throwing that myth around.
The Last REAL Tom and Jerry Cartoon Produced and Directed by William Hanna and Joe Barbera in the Golden Age wasn't Blue Cat Blues.. It was Tot Watchers.
Can someone please explain to me why Mammy Two-Shoes is racist? I'm black and neither me nor anyone else in my family found it offensive. I actually thought it was funny!
Trainfan1055 the reason why is because how they depicted African Americans. at that time they stereotype them as having big lips and big eyes and the types of clothing
Well, yeah, but... it's a cartoon. I mean man, if a cartoon offends you, you're gonna have a hard time living in this world. You shouldn't take a cartoon so seriously. Besides as a kid, I found her to be very funny. I was actually annoyed when they replaced her. His newer owners were SOOOO BORING compared to her. I particularly liked the scenes where she threw furniture at Tom.
I have many fond memories of watching Tom and Jerry in my childhood. ^_^ My favorite is the one where the yellow duck adopts Tom as his "mommy". It's a rare showing of Tom's softer side.
Tom and Jerry was the first cartoon I've ever watched Since then I never missed an episode or film that was aired on television This show will always have such a special place in my heart
none of the other incarnations and reboots could ever match the classic MGM tom and jerry... and it really says something about the quality of the original that they're still being broadcasted to this day even after like 80 years
Am I the only person who liked the Gene Deitch era? The voice acting and sound effects are part of what I found so hilarious about them. I find myself doing impressions of the angry captain from "Dicky Moe" on occasion. My favorite episodes where "Down and Outing," "It's Greek to Me-ow," "Landing Stripling," "Dicky Moe," "The Tom and Jerry Cartoon Kit," "Tall in the Trap," and "Carmen Get It."
As a child you rooted for Jerry for being smart and quick and outwitting Tom, but as an adult you can't help but cheer for Tom when you realize that he's just trying to do his job and that Jerry is pretty much a jerk. I'll always love this series.
i would really like to see that. and specking of that it;s time to end this comment like a Loony Tunes. cue music and tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha that's all RU-vid,Folks!,Muggles and Earthlings iris out fade out to black.
My favorite episode was Yankee Doodle Mouse and I used to be terrified by Tom's creepy "Don't you believe it" voice. I LOVED the Jeep, the fireworks, and the fun atmosphere it gave the show and episode (Yankee Doodle Mouse).
I didn't know or realise all this...to me and my Dad, Tom and Jerry was just our favourite cartoon which came on tv always. Till this day we both watch it whenever we are feeling nostalgic. I m really excited about the new 2020 movie 🍿🍿🍿
Around the time the MGM Lion got replaced by Tom when Chuck Jones took over, that was my favorite animation style/design for these two and the writing for the comedy was perfection as every episode was laugh out hard funny, that and the weird sound from the music,it had a kinda squishy squirty type sound to it,you know what I mean??
In later shorts (after Hanna and Barbera stopped making them), Tom was very obviously caricature of Hannna while Jerry was caricature of Barbera. Always thought of it as nice homage to the original creators of the characters.
Thankss for doing TOM and JERRY FREDERATOR! As for my fave Tom and Jerry short, I've always like the Tom dating shorts & Jerries family visiting. Just too funny
Tom and Jerry has been one of my favorite childhood shows. I'm surprise a lot of people likes this show. I wish they can redo Tom n Jerry with the oringal violence just for adults. We have netflex and adult shows like adultswim now.
Ahhh I remember watching watching Tom and Jerry as a kid. Best show ever! My parents even bought me some of the DVD sets! As watched them so much, I think my favorite episode would be the Christmas special which was the Nutcracker.
I always liked the Gene Dietch episodes the best as a kid!!! I liked the art style and humor better! Its interesting that it was the opposite for most viewers
I'm 15 and Tom and Jerry was my shirt when I was younger. Along with the Mickey mouse shorts and loony toons. I still love them to this day. I also used to watch Boomerang all the time but now we don't have that channel anymore.
I remember when i was a kid my mom always wanted me to change the channel every time tom and jerry is starting because she says its to much violence, but little does she know I learned so much from that cartoon they thought me to be nice and learn from your mistakes and it thought me about having friends and i wish the tom and jerry classics came back cause things are chaging fast
White female "owners" were introduced in the latter H-B cartoons, such as the Dancing Mouse, and the one where Tom and Spike are competing to stay in the house, by trying to rid it of Jerry.
am i the only one that finds it coincidental that this is released just a few days after the announcement of Tom and jerry: Willy wonka and the chocolate factory?
its there newest direct to DVD coming out in either june or july, cant remember, though if i ever buy it, it will be to show my kids and say, kids, this is how low this company has stooped, most likely imitating the voice of spike
two of my faves was the one with Jerry trying to ruin Tom's piano performance and the one where Tom and Jerry are at a Pool Table and Jerry's just causing all kinds of trouble :3
As a Tom and Jerry fan, I can say that this was a really well done list! You guys really did your reasearch. There's even a few facts that I didn't know!
Cat versus mouse... Bully picking on victim... It seems that way on the surface, but there's more to it. Tom isn't as strong, or Jerry as weak as one might think. Sometimes, Jerry bothers Tom just because he can. They are a great duo, though!
