Go back and watch his "Beginner's" playlist. Bill knows his stuff and is great at explaining concepts and techniques. I started with the H&H Folding Tool and while it's not perfect, so far I haven't found a lock I couldn't open with it (except the Abloy I just got, but I'll never be able to pick that).

working in a major city in which the people are generally at or below the poverty line for the area. I started looking into lock-picking as a way to help a person who might be victimized or lose their keys and just needed assistance getting back into their home whereas they couldn't afford to call $100 locksmith because that might be what they make in a week! Because of your channel,I am able to use your help, to help me. to help others, and that is truly appreciated.

thanks again for another great video. I appreciate the time you take to share your Insight Hobby and mechanical information with us. I work in law enforcement and for 21 years I look at different things starting two decades ago with the simple automobile pick, that metal bar, snatch bar, etc to slap hammers, and then migrating to a big jim pick tool. one of my coolest memories seen was that under door pick that slides under and opens the door from the inside. just sharing a quick thank you.

I'm not into lockpicking at all, but I find this channel interesting nonetheless. Actually, when I moved into my current room there's always been one of these 3 digit locks that no-one knew the combination of. I wanted to use it, so with the techniques from your videos which I somehow remembered I managed to pick it within a minute or two. It's a satisfying feeling, so I understand why you guys do it. Keep on keepin' on!

Yeah, as long as the bottom pins and core are standard, he should give it a try on a few alien technology locks, that would be awesome to see. You wouldn't want to destroy craftsmanship on custom hand-made key pins or wreck the core with all the jackhammering of a powered device like that.

Very true. Any advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I've started to look at the market but so far haven't found anything that looks impressive. For example, one 5 lever lock, stated as being high security, by a leading brand, has only 1000 key variations!! I'm in the UK BTW.
@jackkraken3888
@jackkraken3888 7 лет назад
OK so I don't know much about the locks you get there, but I do know that Union locks are pretty decent, since their merger with Abloy, I'm pretty confident that their product will be better for it. Get 3 lever or higher. As for some high security 5 Levers, I'm might believe them for reputable lock companies, but the chinese stuff just blows.
@johnbailes8893
@johnbailes8893 6 лет назад
If you want security call a locksmith. You probably mean Adams Rite but if you put a cheap cylinder into it, it will open just as easily with picks. Also, install an alarm and security cameras. Linus Yale said, "Locks are for honest people and if it has a keyhole it can be picked." The Adams Rite is mainly sold for its strong bolt, not for the cylinder which is what you pick. Get a high-security cylinder if you are worried about security. Cheers! Locksmith. :-D

I absolutely love this channel, but discovering it has been a double-edged sword: On one hand, the videos are facinating and entertaining, yet they also demonstrate just how easily so many locks can be picked with just a little skill. Hell, as cool as this items is, it scares the shit outta me to realize that any common crook can pick 85% of locks out there with ZERO skill and a $200 tool.

Electric pick-guns have been on the market for quite a while now and nothing happened to traditional lockpicking. Manual pick-guns have even been a standard tool for a looooong time now. Hell, you can build one out of a coathanger. There's videos here on youtube how to do it. In the end it doesn't change anything. As a hobbyist the pick-guns aren't fun and as a thief they aren't relevant. The only people that use them regularly are locksmiths because it can save them time.

@arkerim
@arkerim 7 лет назад
r. decline it doesnt damages the lock
@onyxtay7246
@onyxtay7246 7 лет назад
It can damage the lock if you do it repeatedly, though the same can be said of normal picking. You'd be fine picking a lock once or twice, but doing it over and over can damage it, no matter what tool you use. The damage may actually break the lock, or it could just leave scratches inside that make it obvious it was picked.
@FreewayKingz
@FreewayKingz 7 лет назад
Avarickan I was thinking the same thing also. Another question, is it the same way you would open am locked door? I mean liken the same process
@onyxtay7246
@onyxtay7246 7 лет назад
What do you mean by the same process? All the pick gun can do is open the lock, the rest will be like normal. The best way I've heard a pick gun described is that it is an automatic bump key. It whacks the key pins, and makes the driver pins jump up. If you're lucky the drivers are launched out of the way, and the lock opens, if you're not you have to try again. There are also ways to make them not work. Springs of different strengths can make the pins go up at different times, and incredibly light driver pins won't be able to push against the springs. A pick gun will get your average lock, because most people don't have great locks, but a good lock won't be done with a pick gun.
@jasonsprouse2803
@jasonsprouse2803 6 лет назад
That isn't how locks are picked by any tool. You are using the tool to get the pins to line up with the shear point. You apply tension to hold each pin as it sets. And yes, I have damaged locks by practicing picking too much on one, also cheaper locks will just fall apart.

I'd love to see you do what I did with a Browning Medallion gun safe. My browning safe with many chromed large locking bolts had the electronic lock fail. A new pad and batteries did not solve the problem. What did solve it was a 1/2" drill. I drilled the soft steel face and inner door just above the lock pad and to the right avoiding the hard plate. Reached in with a angled piece of metal and pushed back the locks bolt and opened. All those shiny locking bolts are for show, less than 1/2 hour and was in. Don't pay extra for the name. I have a surplus govt. safe with an S&G mechanical combination lock that cost $200 and it would take much longer to get into. The Browning, $2300

for the ones commenting about this tool taking away from the skill of picking locks... hey. nothing says you HAVE to use it. BUT, when you're doing a "Lock Out" on an Eviction and you have the two Police Officers standing there waiting for you to open the door to a house/apartment/etc, that you don't have keys to since tenants changed locks, you either open that door in less than 5 minutes or those guys are going down the road to the next Lock Out. if i did more than one eviction every other year, i would probably be picking up this tool. Thanks for the review, Bill =)

Paracentric keyways .. that's what it can't do .. and the new ones are impossible to get in even with picks ..
@rdizzy1
@rdizzy1 7 лет назад
I don't think there is a lock that is actually "impossible" to get in with picks. I've seen alot of videos of people picking even the most paracentric locks, like Abus ts 5000 and what not.

@FracturedPixels
@FracturedPixels 7 лет назад
There's no lock that can't be picked. The moment you can buy it in a store, there is already someone who knows how to pick it.
@rdizzy1
@rdizzy1 7 лет назад
And if it can't be picked it can just be chopped with bolt cutters or a battery powered disc grinder.
@FracturedPixels
@FracturedPixels 7 лет назад
Can't chop open a door lock with bolt cutters and 6" battery angle grinder would put a couple-hundred dollar hole in your wallet, not to mention the fucking noise (Mines 120db), and the fact that the lock is now broken forever and you can never put it back in a way that the owner of the lock wouldn't know it had been breached.

The idea of this vibrating lock picking has been around a lot longer than everyone thinks,I made a black and decker auto sheer scissors converted into one of these ,10 years ago.and I got the instructions from insructables witch at the time was about a year or 2 old.so it might be way older than that.look up black and decker auto pick,or humming bird pick.or vibrating pick,you find a lot of similar tools to this one.

I don't think I like it. Not because it is bad, but because it takes away the entire experience of lock picking as a hobby. Either way, another great review from the man himself. Also, should I build my own set or should I get the eagles nest pick set?

Luca Morelli well, it depends on why you buy it. If you're a locksmith, this would be useful to help people who have locked themselves out.
@bosnianbill

Neither. Grab one of the Praxis kits while you still can. $49 and you get everything you could possibly need, in both 0.015" and 0.023", as well as TOK tools. A bargain.

@lucan73630
@lucan73630 7 лет назад
bosnianbill I would get a set like that but. I really want nice handles, an easy to carry case, and I don't really need that many pics. I would rather just get a few good ones rather than a big kit. My build would look like this. -- One hook 1 from Paterson, one Paterson gem, one bogie one from Paterson, a level 1 tension set from sparrow and a sparrow tuxedo case. What do you think of that? Or would I be better off just getting the eagle's nest kit, which is more, but I would be saving money buying it together? Thanks!

"I've Never been to a house that's been burgled where the burglar picked open a lock...... they usually smash their way in or out. I have seen snapped euro cylinders. Doors opened with crowbars or hammer and chisel or windows opened with a brick..." -someone else I knew someone who had a hugely reinforced front door and they just cut down a door way right next to it XD.

In most states, it is illegal for someone that is not a locksmith to possess lock picking or bypass tools. Most of the time someone is charged with possession as an add on to a theft crime.
@coreywillem6257
@coreywillem6257 6 лет назад
It's not that easy to use... I'm an amateur and can only open some basic locks... So far I've failed to open anything but training locks with this. You can't just buy one and open anything. It's a different skillset than SPP or bumping, and once you've got it it's quite fast, but it takes a fair bit of practice.
@notpulverman9660
@notpulverman9660 6 лет назад
Jason Sprouse Wrong. In most states it is illegal to posses "burglary tools." The burden of proving "intent to burgle" falls to the prosecutor.
@notpulverman9660
@notpulverman9660 6 лет назад
Jason Sprouse This ends up meaning that lock picks and other B&E tools are LEGAL, but there is a venue for burglars to be arrested while they're still trying to choose a house or something.

I'm a canadian locksmith with more than 30 years experience. Last september, I bought a Kronos directly from Multipick Germany since there was no distributor in Canada. Even though it seemed to be well built, mine quit working within 20 minutes of use. After I contacted Multipick, they told me I had to send it back to Germany to get it fixed. They said they would repay my shipping costs to cover for the trouble. Three months later I finally got it back but never got paid back as promised for my expenses . At last, I was able to try it and evaluate its performance. I tried it with multiple mortise cylinders, KIKs and padlocks. To me, it compares to my regular pick guns (Ilco and Lockaid). All the locks I picked with the Kronos, I also picked them with my good old pick guns wich by the way, don't require any batteries and perform better in the cold climate. My advice; save your money for something else.
