I swear if the Ads were in ASMR too I wouldn't even care, but no it's lovely whispering and all of a sudden "WOULD YO U LIKE TO SAVE 15% ON CAR INSURANCE?"
Pink Horizon To the best of my knowledge, devices like phones don’t have an Adblock that affects the RU-vid app itself, which I and I assume many others use the RU-vid app on a phone or a device similar to one.
I honestly believed that this video was literally going to be comprised of little fake ads for all the stores that uncle E has created. Like zeds zombuys ashapalypse, Daves thrift shop etc.
My only problem with ads in asmr videos is if the ad is anywhere in the middle or end of the video. I hate few things more than being blasted mid video by an ad and hurting my ears. But Uncle E has to make a buck somehow so the beginning is fine.
I wouldn’t mind the ads on ASMR videos if it wasn’t for the fact that they’re 200x louder (naturally) than the video itself. Google should really implement a feature where the ad volume is reduced if the video title has “ASMR” in it. Just saying, it can’t be that difficult.
Most of ER’s videos are already 99.99% ad free already, with around an hour of high quality content after a five to fifteen second ad at the beginning. What’s truly evil and greedy? Putting ads THROUGHOUT your videos.
To be honest I don't care at all about the adds. If they make you earn money, by all means, fill up your channel with them. Don't think earning money is a bad thing; gotta make a living somehow and I'd say your quality video's are worth the 5 seconds wait.
Hell yeah man, ER's content is totally worth it- 5 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, it don't matter. Been watching since 2012 or so, Uncle E's got a little something for everyone! 😄
A lot of the time, it's not the short time in the middle of the video that bothers people, but rather the fact that the ads are always SO FACKIN LOUUUD
I just appreciate ER so much. One of the OGs of ASMR. No ads or limited ads. High quality videos (production value). Tingly/relaxing/cosy! Love the characters and his acting style. Been a fan for YEARS, like idk 6+ years I would say at this point. Feels like I've been through some stuff in my life. And ASMR has always been there. ER always there, eventually return to Rift videos. Even if lots of other greats.
I personally think you should have ads on your videos, you put alot of time, passion and money into doing your videos (and it shows). The only thing it costs me in watching the ads is time.
merlin2345 that isn’t a bad idea, and he could even have videos entirely dedicated to a sponsor as some sort of asmr...he could make it a series as some sort of spin off from the capitalist video, meanwhile he could also have a background story building in the process as well.
Olli-Pekka Tuomaala - Nah. We get the almost every other month. Maybe every third month. *I* wish we would get another video with the monster hands. Or maybe a Monster Hands 2 video.
I’m hearing impaired so it’s difficult for me to experience ASMR from audio triggers so I really love that you do so many visual triggers. Got tons of tingles when you were writing in the air with your fingertips. Love the hand motions.
Damn E, you've hit like 90% of my interests with your videos. Pokemon, video games, D&D, lovecraftian lore, and now speaking about your distaste for consumerism and the prioritization of money over lives? All packed into some EXCEPTIONAL asmr videos? A++ love you man, will always love to fall asleep to your vids
Wintersmith42 how is clickbait consumerism over life? You're stretching it there son. The only thing that is over life is socialism/communism, which has killed people in the tens of millions due its the forced spread
Shithead Sakularssohn There's a difference between consumerism and appreciating certain products. Consumerism refers to a social order where an integral part of being a fully functioning member of society is your capability to consume products. Additionally to consumerism ideology belongs the view that the endless proliferation of desires and products that temporarily fulfill those desires is a good or acceptable direction. Saying that someone who "consumes" by liking D&D is necessarily a consumerist is disingenuous since you're already presupposing the ideology that all modes of exchange fall under consumerism, which is preposterous. Nothing in OP's post is contradictory with being critical about consumerism.
Mats N i knew someone would reply with a text wall. the biggest majority of the humans living are consumerists. we live to consume. i knoe the definiton and the difference but the fact that he consumes all that media which is similar in nature and doesnt serve any other purpose but to entertain him makes him a consumerist and a hypocrite for criticizing it while doing the same.
Shithead Sakularssohn Yes, I agree that the majority of people globally are consumerists. I don't, however, agree that we live to consume unless that is purely a description of a prevailing ideology instead of some "essence". The thing is, in the vast majority of the world it is practically impossible not to partake in consumerism to some degree if one wishes to act in the social sphere since that is such an integral part of societal life. Do you propose that anyone who criticizes the endless proliferation of desires and products should retreat from society? Things aren't always black and white, one can be a conscious consumer of certain goods (like I said, there is basically no alternative to consumption since even e.g. environmentally friendly market behavior is framed as an alternative form of consumption to begin with) while bringing forth in public discussion the problems of consumerism. Hopefully you don't find this too massive of a wall of text.
Thank you so much for no ads! I have been listen a lot lately and keep getting shook awake out of half sleep because of loud ass ads. So I really appreciate this!
We mind going deaf. Nobody is against good quality work getting some pay. It's that the good quality work isn't something that blends well with taking a fucking power drill to your eardrums. If you have to raise your volume to hear ASMR ABOVE like 50%, it's bad ASMR, and your eardrums are as good as damaged the moment some fuckoff horror ad plays in the middle of it.
I’ve never actually gotten an ad on any of his videos, I’m glad that I get to relax, but when I don’t have the money to support on patreon it makes me feel conflicted.
hayden basick When there are no ads does that mean ER isn't making ANY money on the video (outside of patreon)? I had thought he was doing this full time based on the amount of content and quality.
I would like a sequel to this except it's with the unnamed capitalist Caucasian businessman and he advertises everything in existence. And it's littered with ads.
If by free thinkers you mean rehashing other people's ideas and intellectual property, sure. He's far from a free thinker, all is content is either common folklore, botched politics (with historical prospect of failure) or a direct rip of the H.P. Lovecraft Myths. Nothing about this man is genuine or a free thinker.
Everyone has their right to have their own opinion and way of thinking, you don't have to agree with what he says, or what anyone says that you are not resonating with, there for there's no need for judgment, or condemnation, if it doesn't interest you or you are not resonating with the person's views, just don't listen or watch their videos, there's no need to condemn someone just because he/she has different point of view than yours...we don't have to agree with other people, but we can respect them for what they are, even if they think differently, as long as they are not purposely trying to hurt anyone...we are all one consciousness having a different experience.. (and if for some reason you don't agree with what i'm saying, it's perfectly fine and i respect that..) cheers.. ;-)
Dude. Thank you so much for every. single. video. Adverts or not, you've aided millions of individuals in their frustrated efforts to relax, sleep, and quiet the mind. We owe you gratitude. Please don't feel ashamed for monetizing such an important career. We need you more than you realize.
I really enjoyed not just the sound of Paul's talking but also what he talked about in this episode seemed a lot more important to him than a lot of his videos where he's playing a character and just talking about whatever the theme of the video is.
That would be counterproductive to the ads they are loud and attention grabbing for a reason they want you to listen to what they say about their product/service
Your thoughts about "true artists" and advertising reminds me of something I heard recently. It was on the h3h3 podcast with Jordan Peterson. He was talking how he collects Soviet era art, and he said a lot of that art was commissioned as propaganda. His point was something like how the forces of propaganda and art are at war in the paintings, but art is a much stronger force. Because here we are in the year 2018 and the Soviet Union is gone, the propaganda is meaningless. But the painting remains and it is still great art. So I think the same thing is at work here, in 50 years it won't matter what ads were on your videos. The products and even some of the companies will be gone, but your videos will still exist and they will still be art.
I feel your pain 😂 my left ear has actually lost hearing from having so many loud ads play on asmr videos. Not the most exciting story to tell when I say why I’m half deaf
Number 15: Burger king foot lettuce. The last thing you'd want in your burger king burger is someone's foot fungus but that might be what you'll get. A 4channer anonymously posted to the website a picture of his feet in 2 plastic buckets of lettuce.
I’ve only slept 6 hours in the past 2 days and when I finally felt like I can sleep I turned something on and there was just ads all over the video. This really helped thanks
"I'm somewhat of an amateur" rift please you are one of the cornerstones of the entire community. You are one of those people who other Asmrists watch to get ideas and inspiration. The true masters of their craft are the ones that teach and inspire others.
Reminds me of the look of the people from the late 1800’s early 1900’s. Especially coupled with that suit. One might mistake him for an old time mortician. Creepy indeed.
These videos have become the only way i can sleep anymore. The rest of my life has felt like it's falling down around me and it makes it very hard to sleep with all of it running through my head. These videos give me something to focus on and to help me relax until i can eventually fall asleep. Thank you so much for doing this and for doing it so well, so often.
You know how people always complain in the comments about how an ad popped up once they have set the volume to 100% Well, I have witnessed quite the contrary. I was getting ready to listen to a hardcore metal track. I maxed out the volume clicked on the video and... An ASMR channel ad started playing! What are the odds of that?
Fell asleep to this almost right away and woke up to hear ‘let the egg stare into your very soul’, sleepily opened my eyes in confusion to literally see an egg staring at me... I was sleepy. But now I’m awake, startled and slightly confused what I missed in the last 40 minutes...
I swear one day I almost fell asleep and I had set my phone to max audio (no headphones luckily) and then there's this loud ad... I remember having a chest pain afterwards for like 5 minutes straight... From that point on I stopped watching ASMR videos that have ads Luckily ad free asmr videos tend to be quality like Max Vox Bill and Ephemeral!
Clickbait baits clicks. More money is a result of more clicks/people that watch Ads. There're no ads, meaning no Profit but the clicks are still being baited. If that makes sense. Tho rift has aaaall the Rights to do so.
I swear these funny comments are the reason why i cant sleep at night, ill just be fine for a while then suddenly one of these pops into my head and i laugh until i feel awake again
Finally someone understands us! Im glad I will not hear any of these TikTok loud noises, but dont do it always you deserve the money you can get from your effort Mr.E
Ads are the pinnacle of corporate degeneracy, and I believe they directly inspire cultural degeneracy. The amount of time in our lives we spend looking/listening to ads is probably similar to how much time we spend sleeping. Although it's not inherently a bad thing to use them to earn the bread, I got mad respect for any content creator who refuses to. Mad props to you Uncle E
In fact I've been thinking about that lately. I don't know if it is possible but if it is indeed possible to manage ads in that way that there would only be silent ads (those little bars at the bottom you know) and no ad-breaks during the video than I would be absolutely and totally fine with ad in the ASMR videos.
