As a Town and Regional planner, I'm Interested in seeing the more permanent living spaces turn into more of a village feel over time and how it organically links with basecamp and the eventual larger admin spaces, interacting with the infrastructure, land, food production and conservation. Already a fascinating dynamic.

That old flatbed truck at the start of the video is a real beauty. Thats a gem in the rough right there and it even looks like its in decent enough condition

As an old (58) person who lives in the US, but still one who has optimism and wonder, I am interested to see how the camp dynamics evolve this year.

Like the old addage saying "Rome took time to progress from a shanty town of tents to many fully committed rows of houses."

A very enjoyable update. I like how the trailer got tearned into a home. I hope the isolated trailer saves you alot of work. But most of all it is great to see that the debarking method of the mimosas seems to be a good permanant solution! Great experiment.

That pig trailer is nicer than some flats I've rented.😂😂

The fridge box looks like it could be an easier modification. You already have solid, insulated, walls and a roof and door. Cut holes for, and install windows, paint it, replace the floor and you are just about done.

Add some external spaces to the pig trailer. A floor deck, outdoor shower, rain water collection for plants, wood hot tub, wood sauna, raised garden beds. Maybe a roof top garden if the structure can support it near the ends as there is more structure - cooling effect, upper deck relaxation area - yoga, meditation. Strategically placed sunshades. A possible greenhouse or nearby plant nursery. Totes for water collection.

Cherau fridge trailers/truck bodies are the gold standard in refrigerated transport. Even though I’m sure you have separated it from the Scania truck by now, that combination was and still is to this day the “bad boy” spec. Cherau and Scania go hand in hand, the french are right up there in the list of world leaders when it comes to fridges (next to Ekeri) and Scania are arguably THE best truck manufacturers worldwide or at least in the EU, Volvo are really good too and are definitely up there almost next to them but Scania has taken the edge in the last 5 years. Back to Cherau, they’re renowned for being extremely well built and quite heavy as a byproduct of their build quality, they’re still made to a very very high standard which really shows how committed they are in a day and age of overconsumption where most (if not almost all) things are made with an expiry date on them.

Thanks for another interesting, entertaining, and fun video. The tiny pig house is looking wonderful...so cozy and comfortable. If you don't mind, I wanted to make one suggestion: I think it could really use an overhang / porch at the entry door. It'll make a huge difference in the rain. Otherwise, you, your door, and your floor will get very wet. I noticed there was no overhang on the previous small builds either. Maybe something to consider for future builds?

I was wondering where Kevin is this season? I think he nearly died after using a small sewing machine, sewing that truck thick, heavy old truck canvas. That was a blood, sweat and tears job.🥵 Kevin, if you are watching, you still rock! Kevin had a nice idea to use used cans to make roof shingles for the toilet roof. Pitty about the trees falling but the repair went well. 💪

I personally like the bread-transporting trailer, or as I call it, the Bread Box. The high ceiling would allow for a possible second floor if done right, and if it stays one floor, there could be storage up at the top along with a bed attached to the wall.

My idea for the Mimosa would be to make Fences out of it ? Perhaps to surround the Fruittrees ? It would be more Esthetik then usefullnis but still would been an practical implication for it 👍

Nice to see you guys show the result with the house, must be a huge morale boost to those using it for winter, and good to get started early on another for next year!! Must be very useful for the longtimers to reflect and plan during winter. With less social/big project time I hope you get chance to think about the smaller day to day QOL things that are needed. Who gets to live in the next one? The first house was community led, but it would also be cool to have people lead the project for their own place, after all it will be their living space

That truck seems like a great find. Seems so sturdy. I would suggest you do a roof terrace on it and actually, if you plan on putting it close ish to the pig trailer and even put more trucks around there in the future, you could give them all a roof terrace and link them all together with little bridges. Love what you did with the pig trailer

The bathroom "sink" at the new outhouse needs to be a foot pump. No hands are getting clean post-poop with the jerry can spigot being touched last thing.

I'm really impressed with how much work the people selling the truck were willing to put into getting it ready for you. Having access to power tools would have made that MUCH simpler than doing it in the kamp.

When it comes to disposing of the mimosa wood, it's classified as a hardwood so y'all could burn it and turn the ash into lye for soap making

Wonderful update! The pig trailer looks wonderful! Great to get a sneak peek into some things that (probably) happened over winter.

you need a mulcher for all those mimosa trees. you can use the mulch to make paths, protect the soil and help it not get baked by the sun. it helps provide nutrients to your young fruit trees too. as well as protecting their roots by not allowing the sun to bake the ground surrounding the tree.

A couple bike wheels and some of those Mimosa logs, and you could make a hand cart for moving the rest of the logs all over to where they need to go, with much lower people power required.

We need a trailer to be build to use it as an a short erm rental, for people who are just interested in seeing the community dynamics and the land evolve around them. Also you could make some profit of that to finance new projects.

would be interesting to see alternate construction materials tested. maybe rammed earth, or earth bag, earth ship, or possible hempcrete. or hemp insulated walls. or like the hemp brick/lego style construction. ...lime plaster or adobe/ or other natural materials.... for maybe more permanent in place structures. A lot of the time the main obstacle is the labor. but if you have the bodies some of those technologies could be quite effective (if permissible by code)

This old fridge box is a great choice. It seems It won't take so long to convert it to a cosy tiny house. Also i would love to see more precious plastic tools and stuff. I really like the Precious plastic roof tiles , hanger , hook , power sockets and light switches. Giving these upcycled materials a second life is priceless. Keep up the great work guys. So excited for the new season! I just wanted to let you guys know that power washing surfaces to get rid of algea and such is (often) a very temporary solution as it creates even more surface area to adhere to, just in case you didnt know! Love from the Netherlands!
