The cartridge talks are what truly make this the most wonderful time of the year.

RIP Carl Weathers, who played as "Dillon" in the Predator film. He was indeed a high-caliber actor, and a true power factor.

My “bump in the night gun” is a G40 with a 9x25 barrel. 16 rounds of full house 357 mag with Glock reliability. Doesn’t get much better. Great video guys. Keep ‘em coming.

What a great video. 9x25 Dillon. Fascinating round. I was so into the 10mm in the late ‘80s-early ‘90s and when I first read about that 9x25 bottlenecked cartridge my fascination just grew. A 10 Minute Talk I’d like to see in the future would be on the 9x23 Winchester. Fascinating. Powerful. Controversial. Purpose built from the ground up for major(as of the early-mid ‘90s) power factor

The problem with the Dillon, like the 10mm, manufacturers build them off their 45ACP pistols so they are bigger/thicker than they need to be. There is no reason they can't make this gun the size of a Glock 19, but with a grip "deep" enough to handle the longer round. I modified my FN FNX 45 to run 460 Rowland, 44 mag power, and it runs like a champ. You should be able to convert the FNX with only a stiffer recoil spring and barrel.

9x25 might have the potential to be a pocket rifle. Underwood has a 9x25 load that’s 90gr Lehigh Xtreme Defender at 2000 FPS, which is pretty much 800 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. That’s presumably out of a 4” G20. Wonder what a 6” G40 would do.. Also, there’s a 60gr version of that bullet.. I’ve heard that rifle-like hydrostatic shock becomes a much bigger factor when you reach 2200 FPS impact velocity, so could properly loaded 9x25 have a marked difference in terminal performance, kind of a pocket rifle? 60gr @ 2200 FPS is very very reminiscent of a 10.5” 5.56 shooting 62gr @ 2400.

`88 as well. Built one for my 30th. It's fun to load for and shoot.. Especially at night 😎I've shot some big pistol cartridges, but the 9x25 takes the cake on practical/power performance. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see the 9x25 make a resurgence. 😃

This cartridge belongs in a SMG. It is light recoiling and reaches 5.56 SBR velocities out of a SMG length barrel. Solid copper bullets from Lehigh or G9 would provide some really impressive terminal performance.

My good friend Carl Volt sent me. I highly recommend converting a Glock 20 MOS to 9x25 Dillon. Every so often KKM will do a limited run on conversion barrels and comps. It makes it a bigger a Roland Special, and arguably the Offensive Handgun System that SOCOM should have come up with

Fuck yeah I been spamming the comments section of a bunch of videos hyping this cartridge. I built a FG-69 with a 6” barrel. I got a Garmin chronograph and a ransom rest. I plan on pushing light weight projectiles 2500fps once I can get grip inserts that work with my frankenglock build. So far I’ve successfully shot 10.9 grains of CFE pistol behind Everglades 115 grain bullets but stopped there with pressure signs since I didn’t have velocity readings or a way to fire the gun remotely.

I found the 9x25 Dillon, by accident, last year. Purchased conversion barrels for both my Glock 20, and 20L, shooting Underwood, and Double Tap, ammo of various grain weights. Absolutely love these guns and the 9x25 Dillon cartridge. Wildcat, oddball, unique, cartridges are my thing, lately, with the 9x25 Dillon, .400 Corbon in my 1911 build, plus the 22TCM9R conversions in my G17, G19, and 22TCM for my RIA Standard FS double stack 1911. Going to get a 9x21 conversion barrel for my G23/32 build to compliment the .40 S&W, . 357 Sig, and 9x19 conversion barrels, that I already run in it. I also have fun building multi-caliber Glock, RIA, and 1911 platforms using various caliber drop-in barrels. So much fun to play around with these unique cartridges and conversions. This was a great talk and I'm looking forward to watching more of them.

Since it came up several times in this video I think 357 Sig has to be added as a topic. I’m still a believer in the cartridge, unfortunately factory options rare and pricey. Ballisticly very sound though, especially if you want a little more distance with your handgun

It’s weird I just put my 9x25 barrel back in my Glock 29 last week and started carrying it again. Such a smoking round in a subcompact package.I love that caliber! So glad you guys did this one. Its supreme compared to the 357sig witch I also have a barrel for and a 40s&w barrel for it too!

Im a big fan of the 9x25 Dillon and am glad you guys did a review of it. Wished you would have covered ammo options, wts/vel etc but still a nice video and am happy this round is getting some love. Ive wasted a many of hours plinking at 100yds with this round in a G20. Double up on hearing pro lol.

Love the 9 × 25 mm Dillon! I've built two Glocks chambered in this awesome round! Double Tap loads a 100 grain Controlled expansion JHP that has a 2000 feet per second velocity, and it boasts an incredible 880 ft lbs of energy! Thats more than the the average .44 Rem. Magnum!

i been shooting this cartridge since 2005. i started out with 357 max then 7.62x25 then 5.7x28 and then 9x25. punches 3a at 25m from 90fmj underwood Glock 20 thats every day carryable still carry it in my Glock 30sf converted to 10mm with barrel change...

I knew a Grand Master who shot a 9x25. It was noticeable louder and generated incredible concussion through his like 10 port comp. I was able to shoot a couple of mags through it, and it was really fascinating. It had a healthy recoil, but zero muzzle rise, some people say that it had negative rise, but after talking to him, he said that it was the slide slamming back into the battery that caused this dip downward. He also shot 90gr. bullets over a boat load of WW540.

How about a cartridge talk on the 22 Tcm? Lead ballon talk perhaps?

Quite a few cartridges will make major now a days. Back when this was thought up, major was a tough hurdle to get over. There wasn't the selection of powders we have now either. It's a niche' cartridge now but has tremendous potential with modern powders. I'm pushing a 90g XTP at 2050 fps in a 6 inch glock 20 conversion barrel with ease. 158g XTP at 1400fps and no pressure signs. Thankully Underwood Ammo and Double tap ammo still make this cartridge. Would be a shame to see this one fade away. Glad to see these guys review it.

If you want something to hit harder than 10mm, take a hard look at 460 Rowland.

The 9x23 Winchester is a similar cartridge to make the "major" power factor. It might make a good cartridge talk. The interesting thing with it is that it runs at 55,000 psi.

What I carry ..G29 converted over to 9x25mm. Works good in the woods..or the city. I use the Underwood 90gr. Extreme Defender.

If 9x25 Dillon is necked down 10 mm auto. How is it going to have more capacity? Case dimensions width wise are the same. Your basically looking at an older version of what necked down 50 AE to have a .40” bullet called .429 DE. Monstrous power results especially in hollow points tests.

90g underwood rounds go 2200fps from my g20 w/ 7" KKM barrel. I reviewed it. Chrono doesn't lie. Really neat round.

The Mauser C-96 “Broom Handle” semiautomatic pistol was chambered in 7.63x25 Mauser. The Dillon 9x25 bears a striking resemblance to the 7.63x25 Mauser, a much older bottlenecked pistol cartridge. While the .357 SIG technically headspaces on its rim, the 7.63x25 Mauser headspaces on its shoulder like any bottle necked rifle cartridge. Having a slight bottle neck in the case enhances feeding reliability, and the 7.63x25 Mauser was the most powerful handgun cartrdige until the .357 Magnum was developed more than 30 years later. I’m waiting to see if you guys mention 9x23 Winchester. “.38 Super Comp” appears to be a wildcat variant. However, 9x23 Winchester is a SAAMI spec cartridge that still appears in reloading data, such as Vihta Vuori’s. FWIW 9x25 Dillon never got SAAMI approval either. I love Jim’s idea of a PCC lever action in 9x25 Dillon! You don’t need to worry about magazine capacity when it’s detachable. A bottle necked case does feed better. Build a robust action like a Marlin and push it even harder! 🤓

Sounds like a nice performing cartridge! You started about the power factor, and I thought about the Thompson power factor. Where you take your mass x velocity and multiply by the caliber. I used it to compare 5.56 85gr compared to 300BO in 85gr. BO came out on top. Not bad for a "cut down" cartridge.

Love mine..... ..77grain schp at 2200fps. A factory 15 rnd 10mm Glock mag for the g40 or 20 will hold 16 of 9 25 dillon.

There must have been more than the Powerfactor. My 357 Sig 121s run 1450, so right at the 175 required back then. The 9x25 can go way beyond

I’d love to see this cartridge in a PDW. CMMG Dissent would be my pick. I’d jump through the SBR hoops for that one. Bottlenecks are always just a bit more reliable, like dropping a funnel into a funnel.

I have a .357 Sig barrel for my G35. 125gr Gold Dot LE loads run at 1510fps from it. All of that from a 9mm size pistol. You better double up your ear pro shooting at a indoor range.

Bar-Sto guy said it was his father or him that developed 9x25 Dillon about 10 years ago. He was angry because Underwood and Double Tap 9x25 Dillon ammunition did not fit into their 9x25 Dillon barrel I bought from them.

Where I think this cartridge really has untapped potential is in mag-in-grip style PDWs. Something in the form factor of a B&T TP9 or the MP7 would be awesome for this. With just basic 115s, can stay supersonic to about 150-175yds, and with 95's or even the funny Leight 68's, could get it screaming up to 2000/2500fps respectively.

Bottleneck pistol case just means "annoying to reload" to me. No carbide die, lube all the cases, more trimming required. As cool as they are performance-wise, none of them ever seem to go anywhere.

It was my understanding when the world was young and a more realistic place, that power factor was a way to differentiate pistol competition classes into velocity and bullet weight combinations that mirrored what someone would actually carry in real defense and the very light loadings that would only be used for competitive purposes.

The arms room llc in peublo ,co (lee hadaway) or drc in alvarado,tx (dave clay) can make you a 10mm 94 marlin in sure they can make a 9x25 94

Fun fact: If you have a Glock 10mm (G20, G40, or G29), you can get a swap-out, drop-in 9x25mm Dillon aftermarket barrel allowing you to shoot 9x25 Dillon when you feel like it.

My EDC is a 357SIG and I load for it using 10mm Auto brass. If ( and I tried ) i use the 10mm short AKA 40S&W brass, the necks end up to short. I also load for 10mm Auto and 40S&W so have all of the dies and components at hand .

124gr xtp@1400ish what I loaded for my comped 509t…load the 10 to its potential also and combining the 2 has always intrigued me so a g40 with 7” 9x25 barrel and I guess man put the new timmney trigger in g40..? Not sure but that’s the plan…I pack 6”trp rmr 10mm in diamond d chest rig so probably go same route but more Miami vice style…

Pistol shooting is like NASCAR. Competitors are are always looking to skirt the edges of rules for an added advantage.

I think the 9X25 could have a great second life loaded as a subsonic thumper in an AR-15 platform. load it with a 350 gr- 400 gr aerodynamic HPBT bullet to a COAL of around 2.050 - 2.100, with a velocity of 1050 out of an 8" barrel AR pistol. Attach a 9mm SMG/PCC can on the end and you would have a great little subsonic hunting tool.

How does this compare to 460 and 960 Rowland
