@@JohnsDIY Just tackled it tonight. The one bolt on the back of the water pump was more of a pain than I expected, but I ultimately got it done once I figured out the correct combination of sockets and extensions. Thanks again for the video.
Man, I had a 1988 Pontiac 6000LE. The thermostat was on top connected to the upper radiator hose. 2 bolts off and that's it. Wish it was that easy in Hondas
It is a great video thanks, i want to change my honda accord transmission mount but im struggling with the torque spec could you tell me where i could find them .
Good question! Well, it does have 153k miles on it, so not too new! On my last Honda, the water pump went at just under 200k miles. Given that it looked like more of a challenge on this vehicle, I decided to do it earlier while I had the time. The water pump pulley did have noticeable play in it, but it wasn't making any noise or leaking at all so I am sure it would have made it quite a bit further, to your point. Thanks for the comment!
Actually, it looks like the water pump replacement is much easier on the 2.0 Accord. On the 2.0, all the bolts are on the face of the water pump so you don't have to reach the really hard to get to one from the back as you do on the 1.5. It looks like on the 2.0 that you just need to remove the drive belt, remove the drive belt tensioner and then you can remove the water pump from the front. Should be much easier than on the 1.5!
The official repair manual is available online at the following link but unfortunately it costs money to access it. Until recently it was a more reasonable $10 per day to access but I think has gone up to $25. techinfo.honda.com/ Sorry, I am not sure if the process is the same on the 2.0.
Lol I had a guy change my thermostat for 60 bucks just did it today. Lol $ 400 omg I also have changed the water pump my mechanic charged me. $150. Also did the turbo he did it for $450 all original parts. I bought. He just did the labor 😊
Wow, sounds like you've got a good mechanic! It's great if you can find a good independent mechanic like that! Out of curiosity, why did you have to replace the turbo? Was it failing? And if so what was the issue? Thanks for the comment!
@JohnsDIY I was getting all these weird crazy pop up nights in my dash. and then i put in the scanner n got the code P0299 low boost on the turbo. It's a commen issue. Iv seen videos of that happen alot on the accords. I have 165k on my accord all freeway miles. That's the only problem I have. Other than that just the regular basic oil change spark plugs. Belts, coils etc
@@henrynissanmimintruck Thanks for the info! I have heard of turbo bearing failures on some 1.5T engines as well. That's a bummer at 165k miles though! I am creeping right up on that so it will be interesting to see if I have any issues. Out of curiosity, I assume you used full synthetic and changed the oil regularly (at maintenance minder?)?
This car had about 150k miles on it. Also, the water pump change was preventative maintenance - it actually wasn't leaking or causing any noise. There was a very small, but noticeable amount of play in the pulley compared to the new one. Sorry to hear yours is leaking at only 82k! Good luck with the repair!
I think from google translate that means "Where can I get the assembly instructions?". The official honda service manual costs money to access but is available from: techinfo.honda.com/ There are lots of others sites with DIY information that is more cost effective, like www.alldata.com/ eautorepair.net/ I don't know of any free service manual.
@@aquamint1 "You may not be the best technician, but you are the most meticulous. Korea is a country where self-maintenance is difficult due to many regulations. However, there are many people who like self-maintenance. The video is really helpful to you." Thanks very much for the nice comment! Very nice to hear from a fellow DIYer from Korea!
@@aquamint1 Sounds good. Throttle body cleaning is on my list!! I have 155,000 miles (250,000 km) so I was thinking a throttle body cleaning would be a good idea!!
It is so insane at how bad these cars are now designed compared to the older generations. Those turbos have caused so many issues because things need yo be moved from where they wld normally go. I hope Honda gets rid of these turbos in the future.
