I think Meredith really did underestimate her impact in her career in this. Like I actually kind of agree with Derek that her view of their past being an issue is something that she still lives with that only really exists in their bubble. In ten year she has created her own legacy. She would have done fine in DC. 🤷🏽♀️ so sad. But it happens....
If she left, it will be a trailing like the way her mum did with Thatcher, and they ended up Resenting each other and Mer doesn't want that, plus he told Derek to get the job and go shine the he refused and make the people who love him miserable.
I think that was really a great thing to show people who can stand their ground in their marriage. That's what Cristina showed her and that's what Dr.Thomas (the old doctor Cristina worked with )said . Don't let anyone overpower your identity and Seattle was Meredith's identity. And she became the DR. MEREDITH GREY , THE CATHERINE FOX WINNER Sergion in Seattle . And however we don't like it this is what reality is like. These are the kind of fights you have in real life. 🙄
i HATE that the last seasons they had together he was in DC a lot and they fought like all the time.. if u gonna kill one of the most important characters and end the best relationship ever, at least let them be happy before it’s over😭😭 I HATE YOU FOR THAT SHONDA

Since when Meredith cares about her child hood she never really got sentimental about stuff like that, look at Cristina she flew across the world for a job in a country she doesn’t know anything about, but she didn’t call her selfish it was okay , but now Meredith can’t fly across country for Derek’s career and hers too!! it’s not just Derek who’s selfish but Meredith is too, he gave her her opportunity but when you get a job from THE president you can’t turn it down! It’s not like he was planning for it to happen
O. D he was ready to leave everything behind when she got offered a residency in Boston he urged her to take it and to not feel guilty about it but when it comes to his career he’s being selfish?!?!?!

grace thomas He did ask her and she said she’d go and then she changed her mind. Derek sacrifices going to Harvard at the end of season 8 because Meredith was too stubborn to move. This was Dereks dream job, he had wanted to sacrifice hours to look after the kids but this was a great job, and frankly what he was doing *was* more important than what Meredith was doing with her sheep. And then he gave it all up for her and then she doesn’t care. Even before he left he told her he would stay and she made him go.
Maia first off Meredith agreed to Boston at the end of season 8 but they got in a plane crash. If you call not wanting to leave after a traumatic incident selfish than that’s just sad. This was based off principal, Derek never asked Meredith he assumed she would say yes. Maybe it was more important. However these decisions need to be made as a family, Meredith was never on board. Especially considering that Derek made a promise to step back. Also Meredith wasn’t supportive of when Derek left and it was addressed in the show. He was trying to play Martyr, which Meredith knew he would do. Also if Meredith wants to be selfish about her career why is that a bad thing? She didn’t want a repeat of what happened with her parents. She was chasing the same success that her best friend and her husband were. However, she is called selfish, Cristina and Derek are called ambitious.
@@maia9056 Meredith moving to DC would be like a step back for her career. In Seattle she is an attending and she owns part of the hospital. In DC she would be only an attending, she would have to start from the beginning. She wasn't offered any job, she would have to search for one. She most probably would have to sacrifice her career (time) because Derek's job would be extremely time-consuming, and she would have to take care of the kids. She needs to think about creating her career. It doesn't matter if Derek's job was more important at that moment. Because most of the time his job would be more important than Meredith's because he is older, he already created and established his own career. If Meredith made that decision thinking that Derek's job is more important than her, she would never create her own career.
