Luego en Chile Peñarol fue una sombra del cuadro que era en realidad y uds nos ganaron muy bien. Tenían un gran equipo, y a lo largo de la historia recuerdo legendarios jugadores del rojo... Navarro, Pavoni, Pastoriza, Bernao, Yasalde, obviamente Bochini, Bertoni, Burruchaga y tantos otros. Que partidos aquellos de Independiente y mi Peñarol... cuántos recuerdos.... What the hell was the matter with this shower? Every shot on goal was blasted high and wide.....I'm looking at you, Charlton, Connolly and Greaves! They yanked Greaves and Connolly after this fiasco and put Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters in. The rest, as they say, is history.
Jimmy Greaves played until he suffered a gashed shin against France. Ramsey picked Hurst as a replacement & Jimmy didn't get his place back. A sad end for one of the best finishers in the history of the game!

Qué partidazo!..fue Nada..de..esas..ridículas tirraderas.a .los pies.., los faul..e interminables discusiones...Y..nada , no había..esas " .parodias melodramaticas..de los ..DT.., ect..por la raya.a los bordes de La cancha... Nada de eso.. Todavía , !Se jugaba . .al futbol...; .pelota..iba justo.donde . debería ir...Nada..de galopes interminables y ..sin sentido alguno ...
Ambos equipos son "pataduras", pero debo admitir que ambos jugaron muy bien, Inglaterra imprimiéndole velocidad, los uruguayos "garra", lo que no ví son los agarrones que les gusta a los uruguayos, ¿raro no?, ¿extraño?, tal vez por ser el primer partido del mundial 66
