will never forget this, i was in college, had all my boys from home up for my 21st birthday and we were GLUED to the TV. Manziel easily the most exciting player ive ever seen in college football. When it came time for the game, no one had a compete level like him. I hope he gets the help he needs
This is just like Super Bowl 49 where Russel Wilson throws it instead of easily running it for a touchdown and winning the game but throws an interception.
+Sam Mundt The throw was statistically a good play call. Running it in was not "easy", Marshawn Lynch hadn't actually been very successful at running from the one yard line. Throwing from that position isn't actually very risky, they just got unlucky that the defense made an incredible play.
Y'know what? You're the first 'bama fan I've heard that's given the opposition the respect it deserves. Georgia's a good team, and are having a good run. Wish some of these commentators had the same sense of sportsmanship that we have.
Hey i'm a Bama fan, but you said it right, A&M is gonna get all the talent from Texas now. It's gonna be some great football with new rivalries and havin to go play IN Texas, MAN i can't wait to see it! One of the best decisions in college football history. Thats why the SEC is the best!
I love all you Big 12 fans that are all of the sudden living vicariously through A&M's success. There is NO accurate comparison between last year's A&M squad and this year's team. Different coach, different philosophy, and the emergence of a phenomenal quarterback, the likes which we haven't seen since cam newton. Mizzou was arguably an upper-tier Big 12 team the last couple years and look how they've fared in the SEC under the SAME coaching regime....you only see what you want to see.
As a Bama fan I gotta say A&M played a heck of a game.. they definitely earned that win. That quarterback got some skills. I would be worried considering he is a freshman.. but we played em and lost... we won;t lose again. That is one thing I know for sure about Bama and Saban, they will analyze this team and then break them down on the field when we meet again. Roll Tide.
The play at 2:33 was amazing! he threw over a pretty fairly cover wide receiver in man coverage right in front of an oncoming safety, on the run! that should be a pick every time!
As an Aggie, I will not go down the road of those fans who feel it necessary to enforce their opinions on others. No one, including myself, would have believed that our first year in the toughest conference would result in a win against one of the most storied programs in all of college football. Alabama, as is the SEC, is not overrated. Saturday proved one thing of Alabama and the SEC: they are beatable by any team who possesses the talent, will, and desire to do so.
As a Texas fan, I think the reason a ll these big 12 fans are rooting for the big 12 through a&m is because for years, you get all these SEC fans who root for their conference almost more than their team. An SEC team gets in the national championship and every fan of an SEC team goes crazy and roots for the SEC and will even brag about them. It certainly has pissed me the f off. This is just a chance for big 12 fans to brag a little back even though I agree it a different team.
Congrats A&M, tough loss for Bama, just have to rebound 'Bama and finish the season and finish 13-1. Again congrats A&M fans, see you next year, good luck the rest of the season.
living in bama and being a A&M grad I was excited to go to this game, of course your going to have the " well if he had ran the ball we would have won" I still have the game tickets to this game and the T shirt , but now In a 8-5 rut better get out of it soon
Looking back at this game, once McCarron (sp?) and Bell switched on Alabama played like champions. I'll be surprised if they don't come back with another this year.
one get ur facts straight I been watching the entire NCAA since 2010. #2 doubt manziel just like u did before the bama game but don't be pissed if he beat or even spank bama you cant gameplan against him maybe when he debut against fl before he had a real connection with his team and didn't have confidence then yeah but now he has experience and confidence and a real feel for the game. besides he became the qb he suppose to be in the auburn game and he been burning ever since talk after the 14th
I love it. Texas A&M dominates its first year in the SEC. Alabama was down the whole game, never in the lead, and the only reason they ever had a chance was b/c our kicker averages
I hope A&M get some good folks, they can rule the Sec for a long time to come. I'm not worried about UT falling off, it won't happen. Its more about how you progress once you get to the institution that makes the difference. The quarterback position is so important. Look at Manziel, he is great, he's from Kerrville Tivy, they're 4A, and not that big, but what a great recruit. Colt McCoy went to a smaller school at Jim Ned. Without Manziel, I don't know how good the Aggs would be, but I like them
If there's anything to be learned from Texas A&M, it's that the hurry-up offense was supposed to be the Achilles heel of a defense-oriented team. But for every chess move, there IS a counter move. YOUR team should run a hurry-up offense too. Make THEIR defense tired, and they'll have to slow down THEIR offense and balance the playing field
i guess with a HISTORY making win for a program like a&m that this was you are able to over look how the teams on the field played, its fine kido hang ur hats on this BIG win.............
A&M was underrated at 15th, and proved it all year. People also try to talk bad about Florida, but look at what they just did to Florida State. Georgia made Georgia Tech look like a high school team. The SEC keeps crushing these non-conference opponents. Keep talking while the SEC continues to dominate. I don't think ND's weak schedule has them ready for Bama or Georgia. Both very good teams, and either SHOULD win.
This is just one game, folks. I'm not an Alabama fan, but I'm not naive enough to ignore their body of work to this point, not the mention the parallels to last year. They lost on this very same weekend last year and still went on to win the National Championship. Congratulations to A&M for finding a way to beat Alabama, but this does not dash Bama's shot at the NC.
Alabama fan here. Congrats texas A&M great game. Im not going to try to make any excuses but if we didnt play A&M right after LSU we wouldnt have lost. Thats just what i think, i may be wrong but anyway good game A&M.
Well, my Vols are pretty bad this year, so I'm not getting into a piss fight on whose team is better, mine or yours. But this game was incredible. I was so happy to see the Talib... I mean Bama lose. It was nearly like rooting for the Vols. It at least helped me forget about the Mizzou embarrassment (at least Dooley is out too).
Taylor, that's in the SEC. SEC academics are subpar compared to a lot of other schools. The SEC dominates on the field, but not necessarily in the classroom. When it comes to the University of Texas and Texas A&M, UT outranks A&M essentially every time.
The first quarter was a blowout. Alabama outscored Texas A&M 24-9 in the remaining three quarters. Not trying to take anything away from A&M but this game was NOT a blowout.
Mack did recruit Johnny Manziel. Mack Brown recruited him as a safety and not a qb. Manziel said he wanted to play qb. If it were about playing for texas he would have gone. but he wanted to play qb so he was headed to oregon as they recruited him as a qb. Then a&m made an offer for him to play qb and he switched as he wanted to stay in texas and play qb.
I'm pretty sure it's 'kiddo'. Sure it is an history making win. Completely new coaching staff, new conference, freshman quarterback going TO 'bama and beating an undefeated team. You have to admit it's a big accomplishment, whether your like it or not. We will see what happens at Kyle next season. Until then, enjoy all your talk.
One of the Buckeyes best records against an opponent is Texas A&M smart guy. A&M recruiting improved a little BUT I dont see how you can go from a 5-6 loss Big 12 team the last 15 years to a top SEC team just like that. Their coach came from Conference USA and they still run a Big 12 Offense.
However though, I guarantee you if A&M was still in the big 12 this year and had all this success, every single SEC would still think they could beat the hell out of A&M
To everyone saying we got our asses kicked...it was 5 points, and to people saying our road to fifteen is over. Remember last year? Exactly. It isn't over until December.
If people honestly think Alabamas chances of the national championship are over they are crazy. Just like alabama lost so can oregon, kansas state, and notre dame. Nothing is official until the season is over.
I don't know why it's so outrageous for you to believe that A&M can have such a dramatic turnaround in just one year...you act like personnel was their problem all along. 90% roster hails from Texas, which we all know is one of the premier football talent hotbeds in America. Alabama went from 7-6 to 10-2 in one season under Saban. Florida went from 7-6 to 11-1 under Muschamp. Hell, Ohio State went undefeated in Urban Meyer's 1st season as head coach. That's the benefit of having a GOOD coach.
Are you bringing those BIG SLOW linebackers again? Made the trip to Bryant-Denny and enjoyed the experience. You guys get loud at times. Kyle will be loud every second your offense touches the field. Bring it! #Gig'em
I think you hit the nail on the head. aTm is going to have to keep producing other play makers around him or Manziel may just go blah like Martinez and Smith after their remarkable freshman years.
I'm a UGA fan, but Johnny sure is fun to watch. The biggest impediment to him winning the Heisman is the fact that he's a freshman. If he wins, it will be because he made it impossible for voters not to select him.
I don't like alabama, but I can't lie, the reason alabama wasn't playing so well, was because they had a tough ass battle with Lsu, Lsu actualy did good for once that year. but I still think as a freshmen, johnny kicks ass.
I think Bama is better than A&M even though they lost, I thought Bama was better than LSU last year when they lost. Manziel is just crazy good though! The fact that Bama was 3 TDs back before they started playing ball and still had a chance to win shows me something. A&M played a hell of a game and didn't make mistakes like Bama did. Give Saban a rematch and it's a whole other ball game! Bama will still win the west and beat Georgia but it won't hurt my feelings to see Oregon and K State.GATORS!
Texas A&M is a great team but once Alabama adjusted after that first quarter they really dominated much of the rest of the game. I think Alabama would still beat A&M 7/10 times. I think Manziel just surprised the Alabama D. It's going to be a great game next year though!
Well thought out, Kliens QB rating is 167, 16 full points higher than Manziel's a mere 151. If you want to look and compare stats the ORE QB is killing them both.
You would be wrong to assume such things based off of a few resources. TopUniversities has UT ranked at 68 while A&M is down the list at 165. Another source, timeshighereducation has UT at 25 and A&M down the list at 156. Essentially, any other source you go to will give you similar results. I'm not saying that TAMU academics aren't good, by any stretch of the margin. You said that they're BETTER than UT. I just don't know about that given the resources. And yes, I had to add Austin to the name.
Well it ought to be interesting to see a handful of things in the SEC: 1. Can Bama do it again? 2. Can Manziel keep up his stellar play with OC Kliff Kingsbury and LT Joeckel gone? 3. Can a team from the East step up and knock down Alabama (UF or UGA)?
It's amazing that No SEC defense besides LSU has been able to stop Johnny. All he does is check the read the sideline tells him to throw it to, if its not there he scrambles until he finds somthing. He's a one read and scramble QB running a quite amateur spread offense, you can tell by the way he has to look to the sideline before he audibles because he doesn't know how to read defenses.
Dear Bama- Imagine 4 Mike Evans (WR's) on the field along with a Ryan Swope. Add in either a Senior Ben Malena, Sophomore Trey "The Weapon" Williams (4.38 speed) or Brandon ("To the House) Williams. That's what is waiting for you this year. Your best chance over the next 3 years happened last November. Just.Got.Real
However, I think the only team in the Big12 Missouri may have beaten this year would've been Kansas, past that I don't see them getting 2 wins like they did in the SEC.
well fl was his very first game what did you expect that was a good D on day 1 & LSU johnny still was getting experience and confidence which what I think helped him against Alabama yeah bama has better D then both those schools but up until then he knew what he was getting and his confidence was surpassed the roof.mindset is the most important thing in any sport. so if JF beat bama again or even beat them by 30, 40, 50 pts then wat are u gonna say then like really wat wud u say? he was lucky?
I also want to add Tebow has had one good season when his team went lights out on defense just to hold the other team to less than 13 points, so he could score, and his recievers making the catches of their lives because of his poor accuracy. 1 good season of 3 years in the NFL. Stafford, Newton, Tebow, etc are all the same.
Tebow won a playoff game because of his defense, that is helping Peyton win this year. Their is reason he is on the bench in NY, because he isn't a good QB. He couldn't bail his team out in a shootout which the patriots made a point when they were the 32nd ranked defense. But somehow he couldn't win that either? Newton is having a horrible sophmore slump because he isn't hyped up to what people thought he was. RGIII has an acl tear so time will tell, and the seahawks are a overall good team. So
Bill Snyder would be my coach hands down. I would hire Saban to recruit, that's about it. Bill Snyder would not lose to aTm at home, especially with the talent Bama has.
Texas A&M hangs right up there with t.u. TAMU academics are very good, especially in engineering and our vet school. Everything else is getting better. I always laugh though when you sips have to add "Austin".
@oldarmy1, Swope is a senior so he won't be back next season. He will be missed. BUT, you are correct on everything else. Also, throw in Oregon rb transfer Tra Carson who is 6' 228 lbs of a combination of speed and power to that backfield. He is a load! Can't wait for Sept 14, Bama better be ready!IGigem! Congrats btw to Bama on the natty!
being an Alabama fan this disheartens me. They should have used a time out to collect themselves on that last play. As much as I hate saying it... Well done TA&M.
