Harris Highlights that's fine, it's a astounding game but imo, Texas vs Oklahoma had EVERYTHING I love in a CFB game (Gus calling it, the comeback, Elinger and Lil'Jordan going off, the story of a freshman kicker, a shootout, a rivalry game, a drought broken, DICKER THE KICKER, game day being there,) that's just my opinion though, don't get me wrong though this game was amazing!

Trust me, they were happy to have something to do. Most of the bands at Football Games use that time to hang out with each other rather than actually watch the game, and by about half time their bored out of their skulls.

Technically the highest scoring game ever was Cumberland College Bulldogs vs Georgia Tech in 1916 which ended with Georgia Tech winning 222-0. This game that you posted was the highest scoring competitive game for sure.

@@Pocket_JakeYou’re leaving out why Heisman also coached Tech baseball at the time. The previous spring, Cumberland fielded some semi-pro baseball players to beat Heisman 22-0. Heisman returned the favor by forcing them to play football the next fall as a result, and beat them 222-0 in a shortened game (24 min second half)

I was there! 2nd year at A&M. The fact it was as loud as it was at the end was incredible. Because after 7OTs I had no voice. At A&M no one but the Corps of Cadets is ever supposed to be on the field. In honor of those who have fallen in Combat we reserve that grass and the grass at our Memorial Student Center for them. But in rare occasions like this we did rush the field. The first time I have ever step foot on the grass at Kyle Field. I made a Maroon paint Angel in the end zone. I went to the game at 6pm Sunday. When it was over and we finally walked out it was Sunday! GIG EM AGGIES WHOOP!!!!!

yeah, that wasn't even a thing on Kyle field until later in history. For years we (kids and fans) were allowed onto the field after games. That went on until the late 90's. I remember playing pick-up games on the field after games as a kid. The grass thing is true on campus, but that didn't extend to Kyle field until recently.

@@coltonripley3956 Wait 31-31 isnt a game where defense dominated. Both teams had 1 turnover each and they were on fumbles. 26 yards total for kick return. Yet some how the game was 31-31 is above the ncaa average. Thats with outliers like the big 12 which doesnt have defenses.

This was actually the highest scoring game in FBS History. The highest scoring game in college football history actually belongs to Georgia Tech. On October 7, 1916, the beat Cumberland by a score of 222 to 0. Yes, 222 to 0. At the time, college football records were about 2 decades from being truly recorded. Regardless, neither game offered much in the way of defense.

It wouldn't work very well for the NFL. The NFL does need to do a kickoff to start the drive but they need to get rid of the first possession TD rule and they need to get rid of the clock. Maybe make teams run 4 downs to make it interesting instead of punting and do a kickoff if they fail on 4th

It’s the same 2 teams fighting for the biggest game of the year, that’s where the real pressure starts to come in and if anything, big plays count for more than they would in 4 quarters! 7 OTs to finally take a dub? That’s extreme perseverance right there on both ends.

@@iDropPhats it's less than the same 2 teams, those kids aren't even out there playing defense anymore lookin like they're part of the big 12. I mean look at those guys after the 3rd or 4th OT, you got one guy ejected for targeting from just not being able to think clearly, teammates all over the place arguing with each other out of frustration. And like you said it shows perseverance but those kids are like walking corpses out there, especially the defensive guys.

This was A&M's first win against LSU since joining the SEC. It was also Joe Borrow's first game where we realized he might be something special.

this was one of hte craziest games ive ever seen. its right up there with that oklahoma/boise st fiesta bowl. I remember this game didnt end until after midnight too which is actually super rare for football games.

It’s interesting watching this game in 2022 after LSU beat Alabama in overtime. In contrast to this game, they didn’t want to have a 6 OT shootout, so they just went for the 2 point conversion immediately. It payed off

The coach of GA tech's football team (John Heisman) decided that his team would try to score as many points as possible in a game against their first opponent, which happened to be Cumberland. The Cumberland players ended up being mostly law students.
