Roland Martin you are very knowledgeable and know much about the African American experience. I enjoy your history points. I however feel you masked this knowledge with your poor debating skills. Allow the other player to express their ideals. Stop shouting the opposition down. We the audience will make our own opinions. Give us some credit. Psychologically you may need some direction to assist you with self restraint and self control.
When the dude is making false statements and after roland give him facts on the topic. Facts that cant be debated... like when roland brought up that black people only been free for about 48yrs a number that is not a secret to people that no/understand America history with black people. U DONT LET SOMEONE TO CONTINUE TALKING pushing WS talking points. He claims he dont see Reverend Al Sharpton doing nothing in Chicago. WS talking points... THIS IS A TOPICAL saying of white people about black activists. Roland must shut that type of BS talk down and how many time he claim not to have any or good knowledge on how many TOPICS
IKE BOY my question is how long will this black oppression narrative continue? 10 years, 50 years, 100 years? Eventually blacks need to realize that the only person in the last 48 years (Martin’s and your words) holding them back is staring them in the mirror.
Sarah R Im with you , black leaders are more intimidated by white liberals then republicans are to blacks. Black leaders continue to be parrots and puppets to white liberals.
This is the reason why Republicans don’t sit down with black Democrats. This ‘debate’ would have been better had Roland allowed Dinesh to talk. How can you expect people to talk to you when you gish gallop for 5 minutes and give your opponent 5 seconds to respond?
@shaqjazz1 you might feel this way but this whole video was 1hr long and at the end dinesh shook his hand. so the way i see it he most likely didnt feel like he got cheated. he could have walked after the first 10 min if it was that bad
Roland lies so bad when he said Trump or Candace Owens doesn’t talk to black people. I have seen videos of Candace in ALL black crowds and. And trump has been to black churches and has traveled doing rallies ALL OVER CITIES that have huge black populations. BUT IF THEY ALL DON’T SHOW UP WHAT IS TRUMP SUPPOSED TO DO. How many Democratic run events has TRUMP NOT EVEN BEEN INVITED but JayZ and Beyoncé are. there are lots of black people at trump rallies too. I see plenty of them. Let’s also not forget that the black population is drastically smaller then the white population so a more white turnout is likely. The main difference is that at a Trump rally black people are just as much welcomed as any other population. I KNOW SO MANY BLACK PEOLLE THAT HATE TRUMP BUT ALL THEY WATCH IS CNN MSNBC AND THE REST OF THE MAINSTREAM HEADLINES AND DO NOT DARE WATCH PEOPLE LIKE DINESH, Limbaugh, Owens, Anthony Brian Logan, Brandon Tatum, and so many others. The other reason that blacks don’t go to Trump rallies is 100% because they know they will THREATENED, with verbal, emotional and Physical ATTACKS!!!
There was not ONE point that Dinesh was actually able to fully articulate and flesh out!! Roland, as usual, was loud, over talking, and rude. Maybe that's why others won't come on his show? If you honestly wanted to hear a fair debate this wasn't it.
Like any topic or subject, you can study history, makeup and tendencies, in order to assist and help and to be considered knowledgeable. If your statement was true that means you can never or should never go to a doctor that is the opposite sex of you, because they technically will never have the “experience” in order to know how to treat you. 🤔
@@vincenth.8793 Mmmmm medical knowledge is totally different than one's actually living experience. It's like me telling someone from another country, how things based on what I read. 😐. IT doesn't work that Way.
@@victorwilliams1304The point is you can familiarize yourself in any subject/topic by doing your due diligence in studying and researching and become knowledgeable and possibly be considered an expert. By saying only whites know whites, blacks know blacks and so on is intellectually incorrect. The word “tendencies” implies the actions and reactions throughout history and under certain situations for any general subject group (people, animals, ideologies, etc) when you are researching. It’s an aspect of the research you have when you familiarize with any group. Experience alone does not make you well rounded in a subject. Most of that is anecdotal anyway.
@@vincenth.8793 And being familar doesn't mean you have "first hand" experience. Especially when you are talking to a member of that Group. That's where the term "privilege" comes in. But that's for another post.
Roland doesn’t allow you to defend your point. He has to dominate the conversation. What does your guest believe? You didn’t answer (or let him ask questions)
I see! But we the listener could benefit from a full and clear dialog. I agree with Roland but I still as the viewer want to hear the whole perspective before I form an opinion and Roland is not allowing that option in this conversation with a guest he invited to the show. Don't get me wrong, I adore and appreciate Roland Martin and I watch him daily for my source of news from the black perspective. Thanks Vincent.
@@eddieaow42 I didn't notice that the guest was off track; only that he didn't get to finish his thoughts. Perhaps had he been given that opportunity then Roland would have had room for follow up questions related to his quests views.
I think I listened just fine @Vincent Sample . I understand Roland's style of interviewing and I know all about the typical right wing tactics just fine too. Be blessed.
OH my god.. Do you honestly think you let him get any complete statement out? You have an excuse for every last issue. “Obama didn’t do this because of Republicans.”, “Chicago ain’t better because of whites”. I bet you thought you killed this interview huh? 😆
No he does let people speak, what he doesnt do is allow someone to 1)Lie and 2) misrepresent the facts. I have watched many of brotha Roland's shows and trust me when I say. As long as you dont do one of those two things he will let you talk tell the cows come home. But once you crossed that line, he's on you like white on rice.
Ralph Jackson you are talking rubbish. Roland doesn't know everything, no one does and he needs to listen so he can hear a different perspective. He is very annoying and arrogant.
@@ralphjackson8295 I don't know about you, maybe you are only interested in hearing one of side of an argument but I like to hear both sides and he didn't let D'Souza speak. He drowns people out and is a bad host. Sean Hannity does the same thing on the right and I hate it.
@@vaskylark again I will say. I have been watching Roland for years and he only interrupts people when. 1) They lie or 2) because they are misrepresenting facts. It's amazing how, Mr.: martin is a manipulator, especially the way he won't let the man make his point, especially when he started talking about the president that was there from 2008/16. That's what he does best, talk over people with his opinions, I think narcissism has gotten to him heavily. I guess he thinks he knows it all.

I like a good debate, but not a shout down. They both make good points for consideration, however only one person shouted down the other not allowing for a point to be made. Do a word count. Roland talked more than five times than Dinesh. He likes to listen to his loud words without Dinesh getting his point of view across. As I watched, Dinesh is soft speaking and would listen. Roland does not, he is looking to make his next point without even considering Dinesh point. I watched to learn and understand, but Roland was in mode of only his points without giving Dinesh a chance. Why would he invite Dinesh, if only Roland wants to talk? Terrible interview.
It GALLS me when other members of a different minority group ATTEMPT to debate someone else's experiences, when THEY'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO RELATE. I had a similar experience a few years ago. The man that I was speaking with, operated under the DELUSION that since we're both minorities, we share a commonality, when WE DON'T. All we have to is look at how we arrived in this country in the first place. From there, any similarities start tapering off. BOTTOM LINE, IF YOUR PEOPLE MADE THE CONSCIOUS CHOICE TO COME TO AMERICA, THEN YOUR EXPERIENCE MAY BE VASTLY DIFFERENT FROM THOSE FOLKS , WHOSE ANCESTORS WORE FORCIBLY BROUGHT HERE.
Ah the whole, "You have never been X so you can never argue from X point of view." That is such a cop-out, right up along there with terms like "MY truth." Same people who reject objective realities like two sexes and genders.

Uncle Ro-ro. When De'sousa started talking about going back to India and things changing there (trying to say they pulled themselves up by the bootstraps) I'm guessing you don't know that he comes from the Brahmin caste. In India they have a fixed caste system and his family are from a high caste giving them the equivalence of white privilege. There is a Dalit caste there which are the darker original people. They are excluded from everything (only used to clean cesspits) In fact traditionally if a Dalit's Shadow touched a Brahmin's it was considered pollution of the Brahmin's shadow. They weren't even allowed to use (pollute) certain Brahmin words. Dalit's are classed as N****s and are untouchable (which is an actual name for them) De'sousa was born into and is well used to such systems.
Hey dummy! Dinesh does NOT come from a "Brahmin caste". His last name D'souza suggests that he is a Christian (catholic). So you comments clearly shows you are ignorant and trying to pass dome fake argument!!!!

Roland has some good points but he's so quick to speak that he never lets Dinesh finish his point. Roland, calm down and let Dinesh finish his point before you jump into a different point or question. Roland has not mostly said anything that Dinesh doesn't already know. After Roland get his point across, all you hear Dinesh say is, "right," because Roland isn't schooling him. Dinesh already knows.
There's a significant difference between Dinesh acknowledging something as "right"...and Dinesh ALREADY KNOWING what Roland is saying. There are some points that Dinesh did know, and other points Roland made which Dinesh didn't have. Dinesh himself acknowledged that he DIDN'T KNOW OR HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT an entire reality which Roland and African Americans like me know statistically and have lived intimately. @ 28:08 Dinesh himself acknowledged this fact. And Roland isn't being overhyped and over-talking Dinesh. Roland...famous for not allowing factual inaccuracies to pass unexposed and thoroughly factually corrected on his show...is simply halting Dinesh at the point of factual error. Exposing and obliterating that error. In the process of the cut and thrust of this discussion and debate, such on the spot exposure and correction is essential when juxtaposing the positions of each man and what knowledge, facts and life experiences framed their experiences. Dinesh is a very intelligent scholar who's also puzzled as to why Republicans don't engage our people, and is so removed from street level reality that he cited a cattle call for and a speech given to a sparse crowd of young, deluded Black people as Trump not being afraid to talk and deal with us, because Trump interacts only with certain Black people specially vetted to minimize any likelihood of blowing his propaganda campaign by asking him hard questions, and demanding direct responses in return. That alone means that Dinesh's entire perspective on this matter is the perspective of the scholar hypothesizing from his Ivory Tower, not the information drawn from the real world when one's untested hypothesis gets tested, and must change due to realities of the real world outside of The Ivory Tower.
@@ATACXGYMCAPOEIRA My point is Dineah already knew most of what Roland was saying, that's why he used the word "right" just to confirm that what Roland was saying is correct. You can't acknowledge that a fact is right if you don't already know that it's right. No one says "right" if they don't know for sure that it's right. You can't say "right" if you don't know for sure that it's right, otherwise you'll be saying "right" to something that you're not sure is correct.
@@CheersToYou007 my point, friend Cheers, is that even Dinesh's acknowledgements were devoid of the complementary contextual information. The Ivory Tower "right", not the recognition and understanding that comes from testing facts in the field. That's why Roland had to both correct and expand upon Dinesh's inaccurate comments. And that is why some...not all, but some...of the "rights" that Dinesh acknowledged didn't lead him to understanding that he was factually wrong prior to presenting inaccurate information requiring corrections by Roland, while on Roland's show.

Mr Martin you're not listening. You have very very good points but you will not convince your audience or interlocutor by shouting in their face and interrupting. It might look domineering but it's not constructive. That's not how you conduct an interview.
You better stop the blame game because the more brown the county gets, its going to be harder for blacks to complain and find fault. Take control of your life. Stop being a victim.
I was totally disturbed by Roland Martin's attitude. First of all, how about letting your guest have a chance to contribute to the conversation. He continually interrupted Mr. Dinesh D' Souza. Couldn't admit that there is a different look on life. A look at how life is and can be. Please Mr. Martin, get off you high horse and act as an adult. Stop making the point that nothing can change. And speaking of President Obama, his own choice of not bringing us all together and make a difference was so disappointing. And remember they are plenty of US citizens more than interested in making a better life for all our citizens.
Roland would be much more interesting if he brought guests on and let them interact a bit more. You can't ask why people don't want to talk to you when they can't get a word in edgewise.
M. Martin unbearable, keeps talking, states his own experience as if that was the whole history and relevant to the all country, against one of the most knowledgeable scholar on the right.. What a joke! Shout out to Dinesh for his patience dealing with this sham
Roland looks for racism and interprets every slight as such. He should be looking for equality, regardless of colour. Affermative action is racist! He doesn't say anything about that because the victims are White. Roland's examples are petty minded! I would suggest that if he and others like him don't like the way they are treated they should return to their homeland. That's not racist because anyone of any colour can join him and his ilk! No one should be treated differently in law, education and work, expectations, morals or values and self discipline! Regardless of colour. The problem is that one race in particular is being excluded from their own country, history, equality. Minorities can't cope ore compete with equality. World leaders have reduced the education standards and expectations so they achieve equality of outcome. EVERYONE should be outraged by that. EVERYONE is being robbed!!
Roland refused to allow Dinesh to establish his points, basically because Dinesh caned him in the very early forays of this debate, re 4 types of Republican. Roland relies upon, depends upon his 'White supremacy' boogyman in order to get paid. Roland cannot see nuance, it will always come down to race. Constant interjecting, shifting the debate to individual acts of prejudice, personal anecdotes etc, ergo the larger debate and Dinesh have to wait for Roland to blather on, in order to bring the debate right back to where Roland found it difficult. Roland completes his filibuster and now it's a different point he wants to argue. Pathetic!
Revisionist history. Roland loves to put his own spin on things to fit his narrative. He tried to say blacks couldn't vote before the 1960s, but blacks had been voting for almost a hundred years by that time. There were even 100s of black congressmen in state legislatures across the country after slavery. Do yourself a favor and go read a book instead of listening to Roland Martin.

I've watched this four times - and Roland you nailed it - it's more relevant now than when it first aired. Until the GOP talk with us and not at us we will always have this great divide. Keep the faith Roland, you're doing the good work for us all.
He just screams and interrupts people. Im literally shouting shut up roland! Shut the f*ck up. Lol. He doesnt want anyone to see this other guys point of view.
