I have a Timex weekender chrono, that I picked up for $49.00. I think that is about $10 less than Amazon sells them for. A great watch for the money. I love the fact that the second hand works with the chrono, and there is a sub-dial that runs the seconds full time. Mine has a green face and a tan leather NATO strap. Great little beater watch. I received a Timex as my first watch when I was in the third grade, and I’m 66 now. It still runs and keeps good time despite the fact that I wore it thru about 10 years of lawn care as a kid. Timex really does take a licking and keeps on ticking.

I have just bought one for £100 and I am so happy with my decision. I'm 40 and barely ever wear a watch lol But for some reason Field Watches have captivated me? I don't have the patience or ironically time for a Mechanical watch. Plus I live a massively active lifestyle that involves Calisthenics, Mountain biking, camping and in general busy life. I don't think an automatic or mechanical would last long lol Solar for me is the way forward. Also happy to have a standard quartz.

Thanks for the nice videos. I have the Citizen 8180 - its great and just as accurate as my Atomic g-shock 5610. My other favorite field watch is the Berttuci AT-2. They make awesome titanium case watches with solid spring bars and a raised rim around the crystal for protection. They also have great customer service. They need a review.

I have mostly vintage and reissue watches. My favourite field watch is a commemorative 1945- 1985, ' 40 years of peace' , Vostok Komandurskie Zakaz, handwound and hacking. 38 mm case. Made in 1985. Beautifully engraved caseback and the lume is still working. I paid £50 about 2 years ago. My other field watch is a Sea-gull automatic green dial. 44mm and a Sapphire chrystal. It's a 1964 reissue and has a tank engraved on the caseback. 50m water resistant. Great lume on the massive hands especially.

I have 2 field watches, the Bertucci A2R and more expensive A2T Super Classic. Both are 40mm dia. A2R is 50m water resistant while the A2T is 200m with sapphire crystal. Both are killer rugged and very attractive timepieces. I have both on Crown and Buckle tri color Nato black olive red bands. The watches come with super durable straps and all have cast in lug bars. R is poly fibre resin and T is solid titanium. Both are bullet proof.

Awesome, hope you enjoy it! How is the bracelet? Does it have solid links or folded?
@vladimirpetreski7248
@vladimirpetreski7248 5 лет назад
@@JusttheWatch Yeah! Solid links, but not solid end links. I really don't know why Seiko wouldn't ditch the folded links already. They seem to be the rare ones still doing that even for their 150+USD watches. I saw a 200USD Seiko 5 watch ih a boutique couple of days ago with folded links bracelet. On the other hand I bought a Cadisen c1033 (beautiful sunburst green dial) 70+USD six months ago and even that one had solid links and milled clasp. Defender's clasp is not milled, only pressed. But what's good and looks like quality is that both the bracelet and the watch are really heavy. I mean I know that the bracelet gives it weight, but the watch itself is kind of heavy. Which is great for an everyday tool watch (especially for a guy like myself that doesn't really like divers).

Great review and recommendations. I love a good field watch as mine from the boy scouts was my first watch ever. Really good selection and I must say that the Defender is the first Orient watch that has ever appealed to me. With regards to the 'honorable mentions', Good news in that Timex now offers the Expedition with a solar movement. I've already ordered mine with a field green dial and orange accents for $61 from Amazon. I thoroughly enjoy the watch of the month reviews and am looking forward to next months. For my 2 cents you might review the Timex flyback chrono in Tan and Black. Cheers!

I love this idea you're doing! Excellent, excellent! My two cents for the Chrono in June would be my Timex Expedition Chrono which I love at around $50-$60. (Timex would dominate the under $100 range in almost every category imo) Also, I really like the Invicta Speedway quartz. It is not a blatant Daytona ripoff or homage because the textured dial sets it apart. I really like it and intend to pick one up soon! Maybe in June! Hahha

Great Video, and huge thanks for the shout out and links! Sorry I missed this one. Just happened to look on your channel and noticed it. RU-vid didn't put this on my front page like it usually does. This is a really great series. As for next month. Chrono under 60... I'd have to say Timex Weekender or any of the Timex Chronos. In fact, can't think of much else at that price. As for the higher tear, I'd say the Citizen Chandler. Otherwise, there are a couple Ali-X watches that have a Seiko Meca-quartz movement. Just can't remember which ones they were.

I have no idea why but for some reason this video had like 10 times more views in it's first week than anything else I've put out. Seems to have leveled out now though, but I think I picked up close to 100 subs just from this video.

@@JusttheWatch Sometimes it's just the mysterious youtube algorithm. Sometimes it seems to make sense, other times it's just a mystery as to why. The same week I put out a Phoibos review and one on the Melbourne Watch Companies Portsea. The Phoibos has almost 5x the views. Yet the audience retention of the Portsea is 2x that of the Phoibos. So who knows.

@@JusttheWatch I'm not sure if you have seen this, it's relatively new. But a pretty good video explaining how the RU-vid Algorithm is currently working. Bit long, but a pretty good video. Also goes into why subscribers aren't always notified anymore, and why "click bait" titles and thumbnails are increasingly important (unfortunately). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fHsa9DqmId8.html

@@RelativeTime Oh, I'll watch it now, sounds interesting. I recently tried to reworking my titles and thumbnails to make them a *little* more click baity (I have no shame) does seem to have helped a little. I've tried stuffing the titles with key words, and putting more of what i would consider the title of the video in the thumbnails. I figure it's more likely people will search for a watch model number, but more likely they'll click on a thumbnail if it has an interesting premise.

Thanks for this review, I enjoyed it very much and found it informative. (Thumbs up) Over here in the UK I've found it pretty difficult to source reasonably priced watches of any type let alone field watches and ordering from the US is a nightmare of price difference, customs/import charges and "VAT" ...it seems to be "an issue". I did however source two very low priced but interesting field watches that I now own and love (despite their cheap Seiko subsidiary quartz movements): the Lorus "Sports Lumibrite" and its brother (/sister) "Titanium". The Lumibrite features a sand-blasted SS case and back with a fully lumed dial (...all over!) with a day/date complication. The Titanium has lumed hands only and just a date complication but the case and back are made of sand blasted titanium. Both have mineral crystals and are rated to 200m water resistance. Price here in UK for the Sports Lumibrite is currently around £30 ($40) and the Titanium: £55 ($72)

Great selection of budget field watches!! As for a budget chronograph.....well, my most inexpensive, yet full featured budget chrono would have to be the Pagani Design Meca-quartz Chronograph from Aliexpress. The best field watches are dive watches because they are robust, high water resistance and the bezel has multiple functions which can be used as a dual time, as a compass and a 60 minute chronograph timer. Even better than actual field watches themselves.

Do you think the timex weekender can be used as a Field watch? It has both military time and normal digits has indiglo if it doesn’t count as a field watch I’ll buy the expedition scout but really think the weekender fits the mold also the gshock day-5600-E ?

Check out the Seiko 6T63 or 8T63 mecaquartz movement watches (SSB series... SSB031, SSB033, etc.) for chronographs at around $120.

I own 5 Vostoks and love them, but, I wouldn't recommend a Komandierskie to anyone ! The 40hr hand winding with the wobbly crown will drive people CRAZY ! The auto Amphibia is the only sensible choice, especially for only US$60 !!

Yeah it's pretty similar in price and size to the Seiko SNK809, and I think you could make a pretty good case for it being the superior watch. I'm sort of tempted to pick it up as well.

I have a Komandeirskie - really like the watch as a cheap and cheerful everyday watch. A good price (mine was about $30) and keeps decent time, but the standard strap is awful - easy to replace with a cheap third party one of course. I also have a Vaer Heritage Dark - fantastic watch - well built and lume that lasts all night. I like the Vaer so much, I've worn it non-stop since I got it. It comes with a couple of straps as standard and is a bit of a strap monster - goes well with plenty of third party straps.

Yeah, I think you pay a small premium buying on Amazon, but you get the watch faster and with a little more peace of mind than buying from overseas.

Video title of field watch may be misleading . Orient is not a field watch technically since it misses 24 hour numbering
@daveyoder9231

24 hour sub dial, so yes, it qualifies. Very nice video, I'd add a Bertucci as well. Thanks for the wide range of options!

Boldr "only 38mm" A traditional field watch should be on the smaller end as I believe. 40 and over is to big for a field watch for many wrists. But that said, a lot of people seem to like watches that look too big. And the ... get used to it... doesn't count imo. Because that's the thing... you just get used to it. It's still too big!

What's the reason for a screw down crown?
@JusttheWatch
@JusttheWatch 5 лет назад
It helps with keeping water out and makes sure that the crown doesn't pop out under water. It's pretty much necessary to accomplish 200m of water resistance.

Do you thinks Seiko 5 SNK809 is still worth it right now at $80?
@JusttheWatch
@JusttheWatch 4 года назад
Yeah even at that price range there's not really any other automatic field watches that compare to it. The closet would be the Orient Defender, but that's another $20-$40 more expensive.
