@@The-Black-Militant Todd is the only one. Nick Chubb is still in the NFL however, ACL and that knee going another direction will probably cause him to retire earlier. Sony Michel, Knowshon Moreno and all the others either just didnt cut it for the NFL or retired for other reasons.
Gurley tore his ACL like 3 times. Had the not happened he would still be one of the best in the league. He’s the reason I won my fantasy league in 2018.
Anyone remember Arizona Cardinals legend, David Johnson? He had that amazing 2016 year where he became a first team all pro running back. After that, injuries pretty much hampered his career.
The average NFL career is only 3.3 years. You're short changing some of these guys' careers. If your elite for 3-5 seasons and a decent option for another 3-5, you've had a really solid NFL career. Retiring before the NFL inevitably destroys your body and/or brain isn't such a bad thing
The only back to ever go for back to back 1k rushing seasons and still be unwanted but then again he was a short skinny RB who wasn’t the best catcher or blocker and couldn’t be a power back not fast enough for outside plays either and he would usually go down on first contact but hey he technically never fumbled
I totally agree He was a real Denver dude too I did not know him personally but we went to the same taekwondo gym I hate the broncos management they needa make some big changes
Todd Gurley was disregarded too early, NO he wasn’t the same but he still was serviceable. Still put up 9 TDs his last yr(only QBs scored more with less touches) and as a backup RB he could have been useful
I don't think it has nothing to do with him being disregarded...his knee was gone and he had to make the honest choice of not playing anymore and still be able to walk instead of possibly walking with crutches or even worse the rest of his life
@334ben10 yes he sat on FA for a while.cause teams got all the information on his knee that we couldn't get access to and they knew his knee was bad than what was reported
@@FlameWingMan bruh ok what I know this and what I said still stands I don’t need your explanation😂😂 his knees were still good enough to put up 9 TDs and STILL was serviceable, Todd already spoke on this. Teams didn’t hear anything we didn’t they just weren’t interested
@334ben10 yeaaah, I highly doubt they were good enough if you're going by the 9 TDs in ATL. obviously his explosiveness wasnt there any more...he was pretty much powering through the severity of his knee...that's what you're not understanding especially in this era of football...these guys are retiring way early than just playing 10+ years through a bad injury
Eddie Lacy comes to mind. Also even though he made the HOF off of four productive years, Terrell Davis went from a 2200 yard 23 TD season in 1998 to only collecting 1300 yards and 4 TDs over his last three seasons and then retired in the 2002 preseason.
That 5 td game by Josh Freeman won me the Fantasy Championship and 800 bucks that year. I didn’t want to play him but I didn’t have much of a choice. Good times
Shaquille Leonard was a monster on defense at the start of his career. Then year five injuries have taken him out it seems. He still has a chance, but it seems like he's not gonna get back to his original level.
Colts organization completely failed him and ran his career into the ground with all the injuries and mismanagement, they literally wasted their best QB talent since Payton Manning himself was there
Three TEs that could also be found on “one-year wonder” videos: Jordan Cameron, Gary Barnidge, and Eric Ebron. All of them had their best statistical year by a long shot with tuddies for days, looked like a future star in the making, and then disappeared within 2 or 3 seasons. Speaking of Browns’ one-year wonders, QB Terrelle Pryor switched to WR in his 4th season, then in his 6th season in 2016 he eclipses 1000 yards for a very bad Browns team with terrible QBs, but then doesn’t even reach 1000 yards combined over his final two seasons playing for some other dumpster teams of Washington, Buffalo, and the Jets.
Jordan Cameron just couldn't avoid the concussions, he was drafted pretty low and thought of as an project but by his 3rd year he looked like one of the best tight ends in the league, he had a career year along his teammate Josh Gordon
Todd Gurley was the sole reason i fell in love w the Rams. They were such an exciting team to watch in those couple of yrs he was a starting RB. I still root for the Rams but i wished T.Gurley was still a part of the team.....they would've been the most unstoppable offense in the league!
Deuce McCallister was a beast in New Orleans for about 2-3 years… then it seemed like the second they drafted Reggie Bush he was snuck out the back door! Another guy was Travis Henry for the Bills and Titans, he would kill it in 2002 amd 2003 on the Bills. They draft McGahee anyway and it was like Buffalo instantly forgot what Henry just did for them those 2 years! Then this exact scenario played out for Henry once again In Tennessee 😮💨 🤦♂️
He fumbled a bit in Buffalo and every year we had a new offensive coordinator here in Buffalo we had garbage quarterbacks after bledsoe so we had to make running back the key of the offensive
From what I remember Deuce had like a 5 or 6 year run as the lead back in NO. Not 2-3 years. Even after they drafted Bush, Deuce got more work at RB. His issue was he fell apart around 06-07. But that dude had a nice run with NO and got a second and third contract from them so I think you’re remembering him incorrectly.
And then Henry was a mess off the field. Like most teams couldn’t wait to get rid of Henry because he had a dozen kids and as many baby mamas on top of legal issues. I’d take Mcgahee any day just based off the kind of human he was. He also was just a better RB than Henry could dream of being. And then again on Tennessee if you had a choice of Chris Johnson or Travis Henry I can assume your choice would be CJ2K unless you got mental issues.
Hello and great video. Another player in my opinion that had their career sadly cut short because of injury is Doug Martin former running back of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2012 to 2018 injuries is what messed up his career but he had a couple really great years. and had he been able to stay healthy I think he could’ve been one of the best running backs in the NFL
Great Job!!! I've been out the loop for quite a while when it comes to fantasy football and this video helped answer my question, "what happened to all the RB's I remember from a couple years ago?"!!! This video is a grim reminder of the NFL truly standing for NOT FOR LONG!!!!
2017 Gurley was an absolute Legend. I remember in Fantasy Football that year I was looking to pick up DeMarco Murray since he just got traded to the Titans but my brother took him and with the next pick I drafted Gurley. I remember a guy in the room said “he’s a bust”. Boy was he wrong
Haven't finished the video yet. But Josh Gordon better be on here. Imagine if he started his career in the nfl now. When weed suspensions are unheard of. Crazy.
Hawks fan here, I will never forget Rawls breaking his ankle against Baltimore. It broke my heart that he was never the same. All hail Big Balls Rawls.
Kind of surprised to not see Chris Borland here. Hes always a guy I think of in these conversations. Played just one season, won Defensive Rookie of the Year and then just retired
Freeman on the ravens did well. We just happen to feature 3 running backs in every game so it was hard to get touches. Eventually though he took most of the carries and was decent
Devonta Freeman, in the SuperBowl, him and his running mate at the time looked UNSTOPPABLE! They looked so elite and then after that? Poof like 🎩 magic, wasnt a nobody.. like how?
He just sucked. The dude had 3 games of 200 yards and literally did nothing after that. That season he had like 1100-1200 yards and half his season total yards came in 3 games.
Chiefs fans petitioned for Larry Johnson to be traded or cut as he was approaching Priest Holmes record for rushing yards as a Chief. I can’t remember what it was (I think it was domestic violence, but I’m not 100% sure), but he fell out of favor with the fans fast.
James Robinson had 1k+ rushing yards during his rookie year ,but they got rid of him after Doug Pederson became head coach. Ickey Woods suddenly disappeared not too long before Cincinnati went Super Bowl. Of course, knee injury ruined his career real good.
There were a few players who had great seasons in 2019 right before Covid then when the league changed they fall off. Lindsey and Drew lock from the broncos come to mind as well as Damian Williams
Damn, no wonder running backs don’t get the bag no more, they just simply don’t last. They get hit so much after 6 years, it’s just better to start over.
Levion bell, Antonio brown, Darren sprolles, Josh gordon, David Johnson, Henry Ruggs III and Mike Vick after the dog fighting saga are also players who were very good but couldn't make the long run
AB84? I don’t think a twelve year career with an 8-year stretch as one of the best in the league qualifies as “very good but couldn’t make the long run.” Did he go from the mountain top to being out of the league a little sooner than some thought? Sure, he didn’t end up with Moss, Owens, Fitzgerald-type longevity and it had probly more to do with his brain than his body. But idk how you can say he belongs on this list. Joe Haden also had a 13 year career, and played for years after his best statistical seasons. So three of your five suggestions are bunk.
AB played for a decent amount of time. Longer than anyone else you named, however he could still be playing right now putting the finishing touches on a HOF career..but his walk off retirement will forever be remembered
As a broncos fan you're completely wrong that lindsey wasn't good between the tackles. He was actually really good for a small guy because of his toughness
It’s still an absolute joke what Denver did to Phillip Lindsay and the notion he wasn’t a good runner between the tackles is absolutely false. Guy was a beast for his size and was done dirty. Haven’t had a thousand yard rusher since.
Broncos fan here, when we let Lindsey go I knew it was the right choice cuz you don't pay a RB unless he's a future HOFer with how fast RBs go downhill but it still really sucked to see
Great video, but honestly your final words on Todd Gurley don’t make sense? It’s clear the knee injuries ended his career, to also include production is counter productive because one goes hand in hand with the other, he was going out of the league regardless with arthritis
Another Falcons running back could've been on this list.. Michael the burner Turner. Had some monster seasons and then faded away. Freeman took over after that
Ngl i despise all philly teams and their fans(some of which are some close friends🤦🏽♂️😭) since im from Philly but if you're a fan im sure you live or grew up somewhere in the PA area. Keep up great content my guy
Surprisingly I am not from Philly. The reason I grew to love the Eagles was because of McNabb and TO when I was 4-5 years old. Would always watch the games with my grandfather before he passed, but I agree our fan base takes things way too far. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Gurley came into the league with an already arthritic knee it was just going to get worse with age and NFL teams normally running the lead back 250-300 times a season plus catches
......................He started 7 games. He played in all 16 games and had over 330 carries. He was basically rb1 all year. Lol. Only reason he didn't start every game was because Holmes was still "considered" the rb1, but he didn't even have 150 carries that season and never really played again. No, he wouldn't be in the 2k club.
