Just got back from a week of summer camp and let me just say- BRING TISSUES!!! We spent 3 hours out doing ropes courses in the rain and I got a cold. Tissues are a must, even if you don’t think you’re gonna need them.
A camp essential from someone who has gone to camp since 2016: COMMAND STRIPS, WRITING STUFF (NOTEBOOK, STAMPS, PENS), FULL SIZE TOILETRIES, LITTLE BINS FOR YOUR UNDERWEAR.thank me later ❤️
Last year at camp our room had no electricity (it was the only one) and we ALL didn’t have a flashlight. 😂 Let’s just say I know how to do a lot of things in the dark. 😂 And I’ll never forget a flashlight again haha
two years ago there was a girl that would wake up SCREAMING from bad dreams and it was the most annoying (but also hilarious) thing ever so earplugs can be really be helpful because you never know whos gonna be in your cabin. People also sleep talk and snore too!
Going to church camp tomorrow I’m very excited at this camp we take our own tents and you can share with like one person so me and one of my friends are sharing a tent.

This would be my 5th year at camp but sadly I can’t go cuz of CORONA! Ughhh I love camp so much and about the eye mask everyone in my cabin is always awake hours before the counselor wakes up. Haha

@@paigehull9891 I dont know if you are going this year or if camp got canceled last year but roll the clothing. Another helpful thing is packing cubes!Especially the compression ones.You can get them on amazon I would suggest gonex packing cubes
Act confident, even when you're not. Smile. Smile in front of the mirror everyday while doing a superhero pose. It may look silly, but it should make you more confident and outgoing. Realize no one watches every single thing you do. Everyone else had a life as complex and busy as yours, they have their own life to worry about, and they worry about everyone watching them. They'll forget stupid things you might do. Wear fun or colorful clothes that make you happy, or fandom shirts that are good convo starters. Small talk with people with similar interests. Get in a habit of complimenting people. It makes them feel special and gives them a chance to talk about whatever you complimented them on. Some say helping people will make them like you, and that's true. But having them help you is apparently way better. Laugh at their jokes, even if they aren't funny. Use humor yourself. If you're not great at making your own, look up funny stories or jokes online. Use confident body language by taking up more space. Try not to keep your limbs together or close to your center. (Feet shoulder width apart, no crossed arms, try putting your hands on your hips or use them when telling stories.) Be kind, make the person feel special and valued. Be the friend you want to have. Be sure to remember their name and anything they said in previous interactions. It makes them feel special. Focus on what they're saying more than how you will respond. People love hearing their names, be sure to use it often when addressing them. You'll make mistakes, but that's not a reason to stop trying. I know making friends is hard, I'm telling myself these tips as much as I am you. You got this, I wish you the best of luck :P
This is way late but if ur going again talk to people RIGHT at the start best to make friends with people as fast as you can and if your the first person to talk to another person you will most likely be friends with them
Also a great thing to bring would be a mat for the ground because sometimes cabin floors are really nasty and you don’t want nasty feet when putting on socks or shoes or getting into bad.
also about the flashlight thing i know if you are bringing your phone you think “i wont need one cause i will have my phone” but u wont be able to bring it with you always so just bring a flashlight with you to be safe
I hate it when it’s the last day of camp and you have made so many new friends but they live hundreds of miles away and it’s so sad and emotional and you have to get everyone’s numbers
@@annaccoenen3509 same I literally sat in bed and cried for an hour because I had tried to pack six months early since I was so excited and my sister tried to warn me it might be cancelled
@@kieraismeh9016 And it was supposed to be my first full summer at camp (first 3 years were 2 weeks)I am hoping for camp this year even if we have to wear masks and social distance
I’m really sad but this video makes me happy because this year I was supposed to go to my first camp ever and because of the pandemic they canceled and my parents are scared for me to be sick if I go there next year so there might be a possibility that I will not go to camp :(
