It should be death penalty. At the end of the days, this criminal will find excuses, go see physiatrist and claim that they have some mental issues to use as excuses to excape death penalty. I find this is the law loop holes. What about those who died, do they have a chance to stay alive ?

I think hard to justify death sentence since the other killing also at orchard, i think orchard tower these is no death sentence meted out even though victim died. It will be a precedent case which they can use to defend against death penalty

The parents of these young men watching must be heartbroken and devastated seeing their sons in a moment of carelessness have caused the victim’s death and this deceased man’s parents the loss of a son. So much unnecessary pain for so many families

I'm sure these young men's parents did not set out with the intent to bring up murderers or gangsters. They would have done as best possible to teach as they know how. Without knowing these parents and what they have done/ not done, it is unkind to judge that they were not good or clueless disciplinarians. Hence my comments were simply directed to when one's child hurts, the parents including the clueless parents in disciplining as you have addressed, also hurts. The choices these men made were theirs alone. It is those choices that led them to this end.

This kind of crime should be punished harshly. They should be caned in public once proven guilty before sending to prison to let everyone know that committing crime is not tolerated in Singapore
I think in the end it hard to spot check everywhere, so the police should try do spot check on location that likely a lot of conflict and populated at night (near club or hotel) more often instead. Still of course it mean certain place is harder for police to inspect routinely where as Citizen we should also do our part to raise alarm when we notice someone suspicious, it also mean there should be convenience way for us to do and someone monitoring it.
The murdered victim is unfortunately also a gangster who may have challenged the young indians first and taken out his knife once overwhelmed . The key qn is who started 1st ? Some of e young indians have OK jobs like insurance , fireman etc . The murdered guy was maybe a bouncer there at concorde . It is difficult to control a gang fight. I ever saw a gang beats up a young guy in a brought day light some where near esplanade. Nobody help but I saw and heard one uncle screams and all of them disperse.

Just wanted know if naming of suspects are released to public on what basis as sometime randomly suspect is not named and other time suspect is named in media why? If protecting family could be the reason , would this guy have a family also?
