Dàh ,,the small room off the kitchen with shelves is a pantry which were very popular in older houses,, love the pedistal sinking the bathroom ,, cute house ,,hope a little family will fix it up
I love this house. A little TLC could make it a gem. it's got good bones. I'd move the first low fence, to the side between the neighbor's yard, and open the back yard up. I'd get rid of the brick planters. Remove the dead tree and shrubs. Maybe have a driveway entry to the garage--or a new one if the old isn't safe. Get rid of the janky cover to the patio, and maybe have a pergola there. I'd want a little garden on the side. Enclose the utility panels so they don't look so ugly. I'd remove all the carpet and vinyl, and do a quality vinyl plank throughout, and add a potbelly stove to the corner. The paneling would have to go. I love all the built-ins in the dining room, and that pantry is a nice find as well. If possible, I'd remove the wall between kitchen and DR, and maybe add a nice island. Maybe enclose the laundry room, and make the basement stairs accessible with a door. I'd probably take this to a three bedroom, and make a primary suite upstairs. Or not. Could be a great place for a single parent with kids.
@@roncastro7168 Yes!! A good builder/contractor could maybe center that front door, and make the windows match. With everything else speaking to symmetry, that bugs me.
@@cariwaldick4898 since you mentioned it now I cannot unsee the front door being off-center. 😂 But maybe if it were dead center it would be too symmetrical? Idk.
@@roncastro7168 Okay, leave the door, but get rid of the planter. Put a porch all along the front, and elongate the roof over it--going from the corners of the actual roof. Porch speaks to symmetry, but not too much, with door, windows, and sidewalk still the same. A porch adds great curb appeal, maybe with a swing, flower box under the smaller window, and comfy chair. Low cost for a big return.
It depends on the upkeep of the house over the decades. Personally I'd restore to it's original state as much as possible. I noticed the water pipes are recently upgraded so little outlay there too. Upgrade insulation and electrics, a good clean up and reconfig of the yard, paint and seal the outside and restoration of the windows and doors. Doing similar with my current home and it's working out quite reasonable in costs. In my experience the worst thing you can do to older homes is over modernise. For example i had to strip back insulating render added on the mid 2000's to the outside of my current house as it was unsuitable for the original construction. It eliminated the terrible condensation and mould issue (I got the house dirt cheap because the seller' surveyors incorrectly said it was rising damp). I sealed the original render with insulating damp seal instead. House can finally breathe and is costing pennies to heat. Know your property era and modernise to suit and you can save a small fortune.
Thanks for the info! I hadn't heard of marmoleum and had to look it up! The material here was unique in that it was extremely hard, not like typical vinyl flooring that has a little cushion to it. Maybe it became hard with age. Whatever the case, it seemed VERY solid.
I don’t believe there is an attic. If there is, I did not see any points of access. Likely there may be just a small crawlspace if any. Thanks for stopping by!
@@roncastro7168 Okay, but how much? I'd really like to know even though I'm not buying it. I'm extremely curious about the price. Enquiring minds gotta know 😂
@@annahgibbus8 It was originally listed for $269,000. The seller then reduced the price to $248,900. After 131 days on the market, it finally sold in March for $240,000. :)
@@annahgibbus8 You’re welcome! Yes, unfortunately prices in Idaho got pretty inflated during the pandemic and are little higher than some other areas of the nation. But things seem to be settling down.😊
Thanks for the feedback. One advantage is purchasing an interesting vintage home at an affordable price (in today's market) that has the potential to go up in value as a new owner loves and cares for it. It sold in March for less than asking, so we'll see what the new owners do with it! 😊
I’ve known some people to simply cover old flooring with new flooring depending on how solid and level it is. They certainly used to make flooring to last! I believe most of the items in the backyard were pulled out of the house. Easy enough to dispose of.😊
That price is a joke right. Who would pay that kind of money for that dump. Wood paneling?. Thats a grabber. The backyard and side yard. Messed up. Why not leave trash in the back yard.
I would NOT want to knock walls out downstairs to make another God awful Open concept. Getting sick of seeing open concept. Like how the living room and formal dining room flow already and look and the way into the kitchen is fine.
We are a multigenerational home so someone is always banging away in the kitchen which makes it a little hard for those trying to watch tv in the living room. But each family’s situation is different.😊
