I don’t know why people get annoyed if it takes longer than they’d like. They can just ff if they need to. You’re fantastic!

I totally agree it tells u how long the video will take and I really feel if u wanta quick video on how to do something quick then perhaps not watch a video that says 50mins or more. I want watch and hear your thoughts and processes along the way too coz u were going to ff in another video and u had something that happened and u didn't expect to happen, as they do and we got to see how u fixed it and we wouldn't of got that if u ffd. So I'm glad u let it run and it was while u were mixing . So ffd guys coz there are people out there that want to hear the thoughts etc too.

The bubbles do look like tiny seed pearls or beads, so pretty, makes me want to have a go at doing these, even though I probably wouldn't be very good at it, I am an oil painter usually... I wonder if these could be painted on?. 🤔

You can buy what is called Angel Paper (I use it on nails) from AliExpress or eBay which is probably what was ued in the pendant - just cut it into the irregular shapes. Also just use a big blusher brush or similar big fluffy face powder brush to brush the excess mica powder off.

A little tip for you, especially when filming, double, or even triple up, the gloves you're wearing. It's far easier to remove a glove than trying to put on new ones, especially if your hands are sweaty.

Also! If you try these again, try dipping a q-tip in alcohol and clean mica off the tips of the bumps in the clear resin and when you flip your coasters those tips will be the bottoms of the wavey parts with the black showing through. That should help you get your separation in colors you were looking for :)

So I did a quick video about a month ago on how I mark my chameleons and interference powders so its easier to see how they will look at a glance.... the US changed restrictions recently on shipping inks and paints they deemed hazardous materials. They are required to go by ground now which is probably the reason some companies can't ship overseas anymore... we couldn't buy ink from Amazon for a brief time until the shipping mess got figured out. I started some of these the other day but have finished yet! Its a great technique!

You can also take a paper towel with a little alcohol and dust off the ridges, too. It’s a fast way to get the black to show through a bit more.

to get the effect, when brushing on your powder, only put it in the crevices. The crevices when you're working becomes the peaks when you're viewing it from the other side. That keeps your working peaks bare of any powder in order to show black in the view-side crevices. It takes time to get that affect, and a practiced hand. Really loving these colors though. And the bubbles??? See them as pearls on silk.

I like the bits of mica dust in the black it looks like stars or as you say, fairy dust! The finished coasters look stunning I love them. My husband got me a load of resin stuff for Christmas and I still haven’t tried it yet 😵. Partly because I’m a bit “ scared” of making a right old mess and wasting everything plus I’ve not been well since Christmas. Hopefully I’ll feel like biting the bullet and having a go. I love the second one the purple/ blue one…my favourite colours! I like the extra mica at the bottom it certainly doesn’t look wrong. They look like disco larme fabric…. The kind of disco wear dresses we wore in the 1980’s! 😝 Showing my age now lol

So you need one of those little froth mixers. They are tiny little electric stirrers that make froth for coffee. It’s like a tiny version of my stick blender for my soap batter. That would help really disperse your color into your resin or whatever. You may need to get a little powerful one because of how thick that stuff is, but I think it will help. Some soapers use those to help disperse mica into soap batter

That pendant looks like the ones I make...clear layer of resin in the mold with teeny pieces of cut up iridescent plastic, like the kind used for wrapping gift baskets, etc. Sprinkle them into the clear layer, and then when dried, layer of black resin like you used here. Maybe do it your way, but after brushing the color on, wipe the mold out a bit, using a flat hand, to get it off the very tips of the grooves facing out, which is the bottom when the piece is done. You can use multiple colors that way also, they would be layered.
@AGDinCA
@AGDinCA 3 года назад
You can use iridescent cellophane to create a similar effect. And you'll only need clear resin! You can still paint the back black for a completely different color show.

your pendant is made from something called Dichroic Glass also with thoes powders a little goes a long way so the excess can be spread further or buffed in for more intense colour with the dremmel touch it on the project and pull it towards you so it doesnt kick/slip off your project. so pull the tool towards you, take it off the project and repeat.

They are so pretty. If you spray some alcohol on your plastic ( the side you would put in the resin ) you won't get bubbles. If you are done with the mica turn your mold upside down then the excess mica will come out if you do it on a piece of paper you can pour it back in its jar.

Have you considered getting a bench grinder for cleaning up rough edges instead of clipping them with scissors? It would want a good dust extractor, but the right machine would clean up the cast edges and also polish the edges to be as shiny as the front and back.

A suggestion for the plastic wrap- I've seen colored wrap, usually around Easter but I think you can find it year-round. It may make it easier to find all the broken bits left in the resin when you take it off?
