One quick word John I thought it was awesome that people reached out to you on the road in a world at times filled with hate it is nice to know there are still decent people in the world offering their home and anything else you would have needed great job people.

Have done Sturgis/Deadwood back home to Chicago about 920 miles three separate times alone and straight through. Riding long and alone is spiritual, you get into your head and into a groove that you can’t explain. I recommend it to anyone who loves to ride. But do it in the summer, those cold temps would do me in. Congrats brother.

John, that was a ridiculous ride, you were in beast mode. Congrats Mr. Iron Butt. Rest up

I did an iron butt ride one time... we took a trip to 29 Palms to visit my son in the USMC. We were younger then. And it kicked our asses. Fortunately it was in the summer time. Our asses were literally bruised. Mind you we rode back the same route. We rode over 2000 miles. The worst part was the wind storms we encountered in southern California. 60+ mile cross winds. I will never do it again. Especially at my age. Glad to hear you made it back safe. God bless... :-)

Brother, you choked up, and choked me up, what the?!!!!? Lol. Seriously, SO many takeaways from this piece, I don’t want to take up all the space here. It’s amazing how much we can endure when we have to. I will say, not only did you put yourself thru the grind and I absolutely love that, but so many wrench on a bike to make a hot rod out of it, then they don’t run, they drop oil, they won’t start, etc…. You absolutely put Silverback to the test, more so than a dyno test can do. And what a testament to the technicians, the parts and equipment chosen, and the reasoning behind each upgrade from a stock HD bike. Silverback performed like Secretariat! This video in my opinion was your best ever for so many reasons. At the end of the day, what a bonding moment if you will with the bike. Riding solo thru “hostile territory” to say the least. The community you described, is the golden nugget. Whether we’ve known each other 10 minutes, or 30 years, it’s a community that comes to the side of another, at the snap of a finger. We ride. We engage with brothers and sisters along the way. It’s such genuine banter. We share stories, support, listen, encourage, others; we break bread. There is no other community that bonds like ours. Bro, I could go on and on, but I’m looking forward to your content in greater detail, and lessons learned over your iron butt! Ya gotta do another video, once you get you certificate, patches, etc from the Iron Butt Association. Buddy you’re an exceptional ambassador to this community. Hope to see more content in 2022, out on the trail throwing miles down, maybe some camping off the bike, maybe big rides out West…. “Go West Young Man”. You probably have a “planned Iron Butt 1500” in you, showing the difference between a spur of the moment, and a planned run. Bro you might even have an All Lower 48 State ride in you! Again, I so appreciate your content; don’t ever part with Silverback, even if you add another bike to your fleet.

@@CYCLEFANATIX Brother you’re the real deal, keeping it real. We personalize our bikes and that’s a lot of the fun. Riding is ultimately what we’re meant to do, and you lead the charge really well. Can’t wait to catch your next content. Now get back to bed. 🤣🇺🇸💪

I’ve been over 700 many times. I’ve been 820 one time. I was ready to go further and get that iron butt, but the guys I was with said they wanted to stop. I totally believe I can do it. I was 15 hours in the saddle the day before your big ride. I didn’t even get tired with that. I think I’m going to do it sometime.

Congratulations John! I live in Iowa and know about the weather challenges. I have done the Saddle Sore 5 times and have led 6 others to complete it as well. Have done it planned and unplanned. Planning is difficult when you can only predict weather a few days ahead. I keep a jacket for ladies and accidentally packed the wrong one on one of the trips. Froze my ass of the last 250 miles! Pack to accommodate any type of weather and take a tool kit. Definitely an experience! :)

A solid video. I’ve come to expect nothing less. Thanks for taking us all along. My kind of video. With my Indian Roadmaster. I’ve been fortunate enough to not have to change out the suspension. It’s amazing from the factory. Just my biased opinion. But I did have to change out my windshield. It was too low from the factory.

1,000 miles in 24 hours is the minimal ride to get in to the IBA. Though many people have done the ride just for there own gradification. There are now over 75,000 members that have done at least a SS and submitted the proper verification and paperwork. You will see that by your IBA I'd # . Congratulations on your ride. Wilson # 19836
