Good job that I don't change my mind to often, but then again I don't change my socks either........😂 nice update. I loved the way you tried to get the attention of your teenage rabbit.......😂 ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Thank you! 😊 I know how truly busy you are especially now and your constant support is vastly appreciated. Have a wonderful day ahead and hope Mrs K keeps getting better every day ❤️
Hi Ali your garden's looking so full. That's a real credit to you both and love the comment you garden for something to do.🙂 You are a real grower and a very special one at that.. so good to see you had a nice Vacation. As the scenery looks amazing in your videos. Hope you found everything growing good when you got home.🤞 Thank you for everything you do to support our community!! 🌱😍🤩Next update soon as please..
Ah thank you that is so nice of you. I think we all make up an amazing community it would be awesome if the rest of the world could get along like gardeners do 🙏. We had n my I g time even with the snow 🤭. Things are insanely hot at the moment so I am taking spurts of time outside and getting a few bits done. Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll update you soon I’m waiting to film a harvest and flower power update 👍👍
We have the same heat as you, Grinch has been wonderful watering every day. It is such a difficult balance to do some shade but not too much! Love the veggie pod! The garden looks great! Such a happy and plump rabbit. I really need to tie my asparagus canes too!! Such great leeks! 😘💕🌸
It has now changed to Mother Nature watering the last few days. All nice to get everything watered but not as much fun working outside 🤦♀️. I am thrilled with my pods and if I find more well I may just have to buy them 😜😜. I am so glad you are feeling better enough to take time to watch and comment and looking forward to seeing all your updates 🥰🥰
Oh I don’t know how people do anything in constant heat 🤣 as Gerald reminds me constantly it’s only a few months but I’m am not good in super hot 🥵. Everything in the garden seems to be enjoying it though I just need to keep up with watering. Have n amazing week and be blessed 🙏
It`s all looking great Ali. I garden for something to do too - and because I love it. If I get a harvest as well, then that`s a bonus. I find every year something does well and other things don`t. I`ve had a complete tomato fail this year!
I know people spend a lot of time growing and canning etc to support family food needs but yes it is just a healthy hobby for me. I can’t see myself just sitting here I need to “play” in the garden so I may as well get something out of it. My squash are a huge fail this year and cucumbers but we soldier on. Your flowers look amazing Isabel you must be very pleased. Have a super weekend I hope it’s sunny 🌞
Very nice update Ali, The garden looks fantastic, just a shame that some things are starting to bolt, and the leaf minor ], but we cannot control the weather, i do love how you balance your veg and flowers. I had to pull my garlic because of the rust, but you got a nice harvest towards the end, very nice 😉. Have a great weekend Ali 👍
Thanks Jim, I think everyone is agreeing it’s been one odd year but we get there in the end 👍. Hope you are well and looking after yourself, have a super weekend 🙏
Crazy isn’t it but we do what we can and the rest is up to Mother Nature she has the last word. Hope it’s sunny there this weekend, it’s too hot here 32c yesterday and today 🥵🥵
it’s a slugs snails and leaf miners Party and the sun wasn’t invited. just the rain and cold were asked to attend. we are halfway through the summer and we are barely heating up. we will be lucky if we have a decent tomato harvest. At least your flowers are gorgeous and the carrots are rooting for you ❤❤❤ glad your tomatoes are recovering well.
Oh lord Stell I swear they are having a meeting at night sitting around a big table, “ok leaf miners you get the leafy greens”, “slugs anything you want “ flea beetle the out her radish” 🤦♀️. But I’m hopeful heat and raised beds will help me win the battle if not the war. Hope you have a fantastic weekend and enjoy some garden time 🥰🥰
🤣 tomatoes last year were amazing 😻 this year not so much but hopefully still time to put on bursts of growth. My family are more guinea pig than anything, here try this tell me if I should grow it next time 🤣🤣. Have a wonderful weekend and by the way I loved the explanation about the big garden how fabulous of him to allow you to use it. I often wondered 👍👍
@@myrustygarden The bad thunder storms are now coming and talk of Tornados down south of me. It's going to be a roller-coaster ride all summer I think. Hugs
Hi Ali. Your garden is looking lovely! I had trouble with my snow peas not flowering - I fed them with some bone meal and it started flowering immediately. You have so much in there, love it! ❤
Great tip I will keep that in my notes. It’s what I love about gardening sites and sharing we all can learn something new. Have a marvellous weekend I hope it’s not raining, although we could certainly use some here 🌞🥵
Lovely update Ali and great to see everything is coming up. I love the peonies, so pretty! I like to balance gardening, some fruit and veggies, some flowers and lawn area to play in. Not self sufficient in fruit and veg yet but I do like to cram a lot of stuff in the growing spaces we do have in our London garden. Same here with the weather going from freezing to hot. Was 17c and raining last week! 26c and sunny today but they are predicting 28c on Tuesday. With the jump in temps it feels a lot hotter. Have a great weekend and take care! x
I used to grow only veg and then found a lot was not doing well so someone (Ben @ Grow Veg) said add flowers around and it works. You need to bring the bees to the party or nothing works as well. It was 32c here yesterday and today which as you say too hot too fast neither people nor plants came acclimatize. Hoping it cools a little this weekend, have a marvellous weekend yourself and thank you for always having a wonderful conversation with me 🥰🥰
I totally love the rants and don’t worry about it ever 🥰. You have led an amazing life so far, ups downs and everything in between and you still can soldier on 👍. Cervical I’m with you had mine removed when I was 28 luckily 🤭🤭 or not some days I,had 3 lovely children already. IVF great grandkids (twins) and I worked in IT for years for a huge telecom in Canada but they offshored jobs left and right treated their employees and customers like manure and I had enough after nearly 30 years so I retired early. The world is made up of as many types of people and pests in the garden 🤣 so it makes it all an interesting journey if not always a nice one. Have a simply awesome weekend and enjoy the garden 🥰
Wow Ali Ypur garden still looks great. Even though you need to water them your peonies are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your garden. You have a rabbit too. Happy gardening my friend 😊
🤭 rabbits are abundant and “dating season” is upon us so I’m sure there will be more soon. The garden is suffering in the heat but luckily like yourself we garden at home with access to water. I take my hat off to those that work and have families and also have to travel to allotments to grow. Have a wonderful week 🥰
Just watching now, Its baking today on south coast of Britain , I am not a fan of heat. sat in the living room ,we got the house awning rolled out ,it nice and cool inside 😀
Yep here too for,the last few days Stephen 30+ 🥵🥵, I love sunshine but not heat and this is sadly becoming the norm. I try to do a bit in the am hide in house all afternoon and work after dinner. Oh well, hope you get some respite from the heat working outside all day. And have a chill weekend 👍
@@myrustygarden I will do. We have got 3 kids that are 13,15,17 they keep us busy Mol's 18 been asking all day to go out on her paddle board we have a river in walking distance or the beach half an hour or so away by car. Hope you are having a nice break Steve
It all looks amazing Ali! I think it's the norm for anything that grows to say it's either not enough or there's too much rain haha! Hope you're keeping well :)
It’s started off as the oddest grow season for sure. Everyone is getting different results and the weather and pests are all over the place. But we persevere it’s what gardening is all about. Have a fab week from a very rainy Canada ☔️☔️
Hey Ali...beautiful garden, everything is looking great...Thanks for the vick's vapor rub tip, I will try that on my pots for the slugs. I hope the slugs over here are not ninja slugs...LOL. Happy gardening, have a fabulous week.
Just be careful you don’t get it on your hands and touch your face 🤦♀️ I did that. It is super hot so slugs are hiding waiting for me to water 💦. Have a fan week I hope you are staying cool 😎
Ohh 🤦♀️ no rain still they keep saying it’s coming but it doesn’t arrive. Thank goodness no bans on watering flower beds p, trees or my veg or I’d be growing dust 😜😜. It is a bit worrisome that it’s this drought like in June when Aug is normally our hottest time 😢
Hmm seeing how scalded some of your plants are, I might just be glad my pots are in shade for most of the day, who would think that's good? Alyssum is doing well, started some that are yellow plus the white. Looking forward to seeing them grow. My leeks are doing good, in pots of all things. I don't have many slugs at all, even with almost every container sitting on cement. This year quite frankly sucks for growing stuff. Peppers are sulking, no new growth for 3 bloody weeks
It’s crazy isn’t it, Gerald says it’s going to be the norm so we all may be changing how we grow in the near future. Oh yellow alyssum sounds lovely, these are from seed but sadly the purple ones didn’t germinate but I’ll try again. I tried garlic in pots but it was too wet this winter, but I will try again inside this coming fall. Leeks are doing well and I will most likely do like you in pots. My sprouts are doing fabulous in again pots 🤣 don’t k ow why we bother making beds then. Oh well we just do what we can it’s the same story everywhere it seems 🤷♀️. Have a super week hopefully next video is filled with amazing flowers 💐
Good morning Ali, Your Garden looks marvelous ❤ I love your complex planning of moving compost here, but then...😅 I understand completely! Some flowers are edible, but probably not enough to fill and feed your family ❤
I stay awake at night Peggy with plans running round my head 🤦♀️ it’s a good thing I don’t have a bigger garden space or I’d never get any sleep. I am not sure I would eat flowers as much as some people but getting Gerald to try would be impossible 🤣 it’s a challenge sometimes to even get him to try new veg. Hope you both have a lovely weekend and the bunnies and turkeys entertain 🤭
It's curious, last year the leaf miners were driving me crazy attacking our Swiss chard & nasturtium relentlessly, but so far this year I barely see any damage on the nasturtium, & none on the Swiss Chard, so we've actually been able to get a decent harvest this time of year for a change.
This is probably a lot to do with my own fault 🤦♀️, I never even thought they would over winter in the soil as much so next time (fall/winter) I will till the soil more and especially in super cold. It apparently helps keep the population down 🤞. Flea beetles fungus gnats and leaf miners 🤬 always something. Oh well I’m glad you had less of an issue it does give one hope 👍. Have an amazing weekend 🙏🙏
The water wand is an extension of my arm right now with this crazy heat. It actually rained yesterday but about a 1/4" which is nice but not enough. Those veggie pods will be great. I had 2 stand up cedar beds for years and loved them...but they aged out eventually. My Ali poppies are blooming and the Aji Mango is the best pepper performer...not sure what I'll do with them yet. I'm still in full on bunny defense mode here.
It has been 30+ here for,the last few days 🥵 but rain forecast for weekend (good thing we’re retired or I’d be pissed). I thought of buying new raised off the ground cedar beds but these were such a deal and they have wheeled trollies so they can easily be moved. My purple poppies opened yesterday and they look awesome. Peppers and chillies are blah 😒. Baby bunnies 🐰 are all over the place but luckily they can’t get in the veg area. They can however get in between the caging by the flower beds up til a certain size.
Hi Ali. You've got so much going on everywhere in your garden. Yes the weather is messed up and one US channel I follow (commercial grower) even says the same. The thing is Ali, you've just got to keep on at it until you're successful or die trying lol I wouldn't sweat it if things didn't turn out as expected. On a positive note, you got a great harvest out there and that's a plus. Your peonies are adorable. The mutant shallot looks funky. I use those tomato clips too. Your brussels are coming on great. I wouldn't put the compost bins under the tree (too far to walk for a bit of garden waste lol). I'm all for expediance. Hey, the veggie pod looks great. You can get more lettuce grown 🌱🌱 You can buy an electronic mosquito repeller key fob. You wear it on your clothes. Great update Ali. Take care, Elaine 🌱 🌼🌺🥦🥦🥦
It’s been 32c here Elaine, I don’t mind sun but I don’t do heat very well. I am doing wee bits in the morning and again after dinner. Good and bad so far 🤭 tomatoes so so, shallots ok, beans getting there but ahhh red potato harvest was amazing and sprouts for the win 🥇. I am really excited about the pods and I will show them in the next video. Have a simply amazing weekend I hope it’s nice for you all 🥰
Ninja slugs 😂 Considering you have such troublesome slugs everything is looking good. Watering is such a time consuming job it must take yo an age with all the pots and hanging baskets. I know my pots can take an age to water. I dread going away, love the break I do worry about the potted plants. Ihave leaf minor on the oxeye daisies but theyre floweing well. Yep this weather continues to baffle us.
It’s crazy isn’t it, years ago it didn’t seem an issue but now we seem to have to water daily if not twice. The big garden is ok it’s mostly on a hose system but right now I’m just trying to use the broad sprinkler and get the entire thing. I should buy a kids pool 🤭🤭 and just put all the pots in it. It has gone from cold to 32c in a heartbeat 🥵🥵
Crazy is the only,y word for it Ady, but we’ll get there 👍. I’ll go find the label for it, I got at the garden centre so not in my emails but I won’t forget. Have a super weekend 🥵🌞
It is an acre but yes your right it’s a lovely garden, but 😜 as we get older we say oh lord it’s a lot of work. If I was younger I would probably have a much wider spread veg area but it’s gives us what we need, pleasure to simply enjoy and also some fresh food.
