This video is about how I made money, and advice I have given others on how to make money doing woodworking. I am centering the video around a project build because that will make it more interesting. It also happens to be a very important project for making money. I actually paid much of my way through college by doing woodworking, and I have also helped many others do the same.
The build itself is a new style of Adirondack Rocking Chair that I designed myself. It is very comfortable since it consists of compound curves for the back and seat. Yet even with these curves it is quite easy to build. I have also designed the set of plans to allow the end maker to use any lumber from ¾” thick to big box store lumber that is 1-1/2” thick, and regardless of lumber thickness, it does not affect the plan or dimensions at all.
This is a very detailed build video, and much of it will be focused on perfecting the details of a salable piece. And some advice that can hopefully improve your woodworking if you are a beginner.

The chair turned out beautiful. Adirondack chairs are so comfortable and making it a rocker is even better. I would never want to get out of it! Your little dog is adorable. Nothing seems to bother her as she lays in her bed on the work table. I'm thrilled you put out another video as it's been a long time. Your commentary is always so well done. It's wonderful how your family works together on projects. Keep up the great work!!!

Love the build. Finally someone used only one rocker on each side like it is supposed to be. Have seen so many people (even locally) who use 2 rockers bolted to the legs and don’t look good at all. As always your build and your narrative are excellent as always. Love it. I watched the other two builds and voted. Must say it was close for me but the wiener won me over with his back story to choosing his materials

James this is a great competition, I love the idea and would like to see more entries from amateurs. All of your work is great and I love watching your videos, keep them coming. Both chairs deserve applause and respect for the builders. For me, RPG's laminated back slates put is just slightly higher on my "OOOOh nice" scale so RPG gets my vote.

Another great video James. It’s great too see more content from you. Hope all is well with your family. I’ve now watched both videos, voted on my favorite (Ryan’s chair), liked their videos and subscribed to their channels. Both videos were exceptional as are both chairs. It was difficult to choose between the two but as I told both guys the lamination of the back slats with contrasting woods was the factor that put one ahead of the other.

Blast It Scott - Ryan. This a hard vote. Ryan and Scott built the same piece. Each chose their aesthetic. Each has their own style of presentation, both top notch. Why neither have the subscribers yet is a mystery. This contest is a smart way to jumpstart that issue. Now Scott, You've got me on several planes. 1. Maryland, I'm on the Eastern Shore, near OC. 2. Purple Heart and Ebony. 3. I like corny. 4. Total Boat epoxy to fix blasted expensive wood with defects. Now Ryan, I make cutting boards so 1. I Love contrasting glue ups. 2. I have bandsaw envy. You make that look so easy, especially re-sawing. 3. All the prep work and predrilling parts make you ready for a production run! It is a "How To Make Money" title after all 4. Wheels, handmade, bonus points. This is not easy. I am posting this exact comment with Ryan and James. I think it's a tie, however that most likely will not count as a vote. Frankly, FREE always gets my vote. Drum Roll please. #1 Ryan - congrats #2 Scott - truly sorry Dean Williams - Winner Wanna Be PS... James you picked equally yoked contenders. It almost feels like a rigged casino game.....lol
