And their "legitimate" concerns are? A couple of decades of racist propaganda that conservatives and other responsible people consciously turned a blind eye to.
Thank goodness we have Private Eye with its exceptional record of investigative journalism. They have a well-earned reputation for humour as well as the often uncomfortable truth.
yeah it's bizarre. Everyone feels entitled to know EVERYTHING (even the unknown) IMMEDIATELY and if they don't get it, they scream cover up, and spiral. Just put your phone down and go for a walk outside in the real world, and say hi to your neighbours, get on with your life until the facts are known - then form an opinion.
Please do NOT suggest following the US way of doing things is the way we should go! If there’s one country in more of a mess at the moment it is the US!
As someone in the USA I agree... How we deal with our Internet is a complete mess, thanks to crazy billionaires at the helm of all our major social media outlets and distribution system with almost no government oversight.
Disinformation, misinformation and innuendo go hand in hand. trump, especially, is a "master" of innuendo - "many people are saying", "I've heard", etc., etc.
On the Tory leadership Tugenhadt is the most capable, prime ministerial, has the widest appeal with the wider electorate therefore the membership won't choose him. I hope Jenrick gets it, incompetent, bonkers, and plainly corrupt (allegedly), hell be easy to beat for every other party.
It didnt start with Southport, it started (in the short term) with the Tommy Robinson rally in Trafalgar Square. I reckon they were waiting for an excuse after that.
@@rudimentaryganglia private eye printed lies in their own magazine 2020 onwards, never even bothered questioning the lockdowns/masks etc imposed at will by govt...and yet their whole claimed ethos had been to hold power/politicians to account with reports and satire. They failed 100%.
The way Helen speaks about conspiracy theories, you would think that there are no conspiracies at all. Private eye was reporting on the post office scandal for years.
Maybe they might be less of a conspiracy and more of a network of Billionaires who think alike and have intrests and investment tha tend to "Breath together".
@@davethompson3326 Well yes. You promted me to go to Wikipedia to get a better explanation than I might have carried. Cartel is certainly akin to a conspiracy.
What’s not depressing about the Conservative Party leadership election? Any sentence that includes the words Priti and Patel in it makes me feel profoundly anxious…we’ve learned on both sides of the pond that batshit and toxic are no longer funny, because they no longer disqualify you from “leadership”.
The reason saying "The truth is being withheld from us." works is that the truth is withheld so often. People who are not even remotely right-wing hate being lied to or treated unfairly.
Sadly, I met an otherwise intelligent young woman who was convinced of the kebab story. I was unable to convince her otherwise. When drip fed slowly and constantly by online forums and the media, this stuff is powerful and dangerous.
The "kebab story" refers to the exploitation, disappearance and murder of Charlene Downes, and the prosecution formally alleged that the body was disposed of in this manner.
Some of our (Australia) States have very strict laws on the reporting of active/pending legal cases. I think private individuals aren’t exempt from them, though haven’t heard of anyone other than journalists being prosecuted for contempt of court for releasing names or reporting in a prejudicial way. If the UK has similar laws perhaps going after one or two high profile non-journalist tweeters (or whatever Musk calls them now) might start to change the current online culture of unaccountability. It speaks volumes for Musk’s influence on Twitter that pre-Musk AusPol Twitter had correctly identified a rapist within half a day of the crime being publicly reported (and lots of us tried to warn tweeters not to spread it because of the impact that would have on the case) and post-Musk a wrong name spread as widely with horrific consequences.
Stephen Yaxley Lennon aka Tommy Robinson got prosecuted for prejudicial reporting on a court case despite having been specifically warned by a judge not to do so. We have had a high profile example. Sadly, to opportunists like TR this is just a way to persuade his followers he is being silenced by using 'legal loop holes'.
Is it not bizarre that the Tories allow their membership to choose the leader when the majority of them have little real political nouse. Neither do the membership really know the candidates as well as the MPs do. So this is like making a grown up decision about who should run and then hand it over to a group of infants to have the final say! Bonkers!
Just subscribed for the first time. First issue arrives in a couple weeks. Actually amazed how cheap the subscription is. £45 for a years worth of issues is basically free. I agree with Ians statements in the past. Journalism is a very hard craft and should be paid for to consume. I'd have happily paid more for the content provided
Of course, people who have been watching Dr Jhon Campbell from the start of the pandemic until now will think, I have been lied to once maybe I am being lied to about other things.
"Dr" John Campbell whose doctorate qualification is in Nursing Management. I.e. management not medicine. He is no more qualified to offer medical advice than I am. I'm a former medical professional with a post graduate medical qualification.
RU-vid are as much to blame as Campbell in my opinion. They earn a fortune in ad revenue that is shared with content creators for videos based on engagement not on factual accuracy. This Podcast mentioned how all Newspapers are churning out nonsense clickbait instead of journalism, because this is what gets more Internet engagement. YT content creators have worked out clickbait earns them more money. YT can demonetise a channel for breaching their own misinformation rules, they just chose not to. Campbell has been reported umpteen times but they do nothing. I suspect because he misleads more on what he choses to omit and how he (misre)presents data, rather than what he actually says. This is probably more difficult to monitor as it requires understanding to differentiate a concerned looking retired nurse sharing scientific papers from a grifter who knows exactly what he is doing, and trusts his audience are so ill informed they won't notice the lies.
R.e the Tories not having a problem with Race, I think one of the big reasons why Liz Truss won among the membership was that she was White. You have to think Who the typical Tory member is i.e over 85, very right wing and thinks Enoch Powell had a point.
If you're surprised that a party leader is white in an overwhelmingly white country then you're clearly ignorant. The demographics of London don't represent the demographics of the UK.
Hey, nice to see the comments section here isn't full of bots and cranks claiming 'this is wot happens if u don't listen to the bwitish people', but this is a totally top rank magazine's channel! You must be doing something wrong, lol! It's like watching an awesome band in a small venue! Good work and thanks for the show! Cheers everybody!
He's certainly guilty of being a dodgy slap-head weirdo, that'll do for now, not my opinion btw, just repeating what people might have said, allegedly, lool :D
@@hopethisworks1212: I know it was Glenryck; Jenrick, being assonant with that reminded me of the pilchards. I remember the adverts with a cartoon pilchard with popping eyes and a voice like Stanley Baxter.
It's a possibility though by no means certain. Whether it's linked to the apparently coordinated though only partially successful rise of the far right across Europe or is being coordinated by purely domestic actors is unknown. What I'd like yo hear is an official announcement that there is an investigation into who is behind the unrest.
IMverylimitedO I think this hypothesis is compelling when considering wider events, although it is not conclusive, and even then would likely be only one factor in the overall matrix, or whatever the word is lol. BTW, 5329, who cares about proof and evidence during a fight? Sounds like some 'freedom of screech' bullpoop to me, please forgive me if you're actually genuinely arsed or even slightly concerned about proof and evidence of some theory in the comments section :D But while we're talking about it, Ukraine Forever! :D
Not being a arseh*le, is there evidence that belief in god has an effect on gullibility? Should society start to point out the normality of hearing voices, and chatting to an invisible presence, is a terrible place to start from belivability wise.
In studies, religious people who go to church were less likely to buy into conspiracy theories like QAnon (92% disapproved), however those that don’t are more likely to believe. Of those that did believe, the highest percentage were white evangelicals (in the USA) - 31%. According to the Economist, one prominent theory is that a segment of non-religious people are attracted to conspiracy theory because it fills the gap that religion fills.
@TonySpike BTW, when a debate to exit an economic union, absolutely against your own economic interest throws up an atmosphere where race riots appear nationwide at the drop of a hat after a few bs rumours on social media - that is relevant
Workhouses, deportations, the gallows, the birch, the stocks, thumbscrews ....! Bring it all back. Take back control. I want my country back. Let's get it done. My bid for the Tory party leadership. Vote for me.
Bbc could do better by being subscription based. Till that happens abd folk get the right to not be husked for fees when the not intrested, this will never really go away. Itl just be story after gossip snd so on indefinately.
Second time listening to this, and the fact that mass immigration is only briefly touched on by Ian towards the end of the section covering the riots, shows the degree of disconnect between parts of London based media and the rest of the country. Listening to this, you'd have thought the riots where purely as a result of right wing disinformation and commentators, and nothing to do with break neck speed of demographic change and lack of migrant integration, in working class communities. The horrific murders were the trigger, but the oxygen was the growing discontent with mass immigration and its negative impact on numerous communities across the country.
Given that furrage has never held a responsible position in office (until recently) it's no wonder he doesn't know how to behave in a position requiring responsible behaviour.
You are referring to Cartman utilising and corrupting the student announcements job to create his own full time propaganda channel, slandering his political opponent, Wendy, under the guise of 'just asking questions', winning the election as student rep on the school council, and then crying like a baby when everyone hates his guts cos he's incompetent. Say what you like about Cartman, he's not as lazy or boring as Faridge et al, and he's definitely funnier. :D
I agree, this is no longer about the murdered girls, its now about much much more But the problem with fires is, you dont worry about the match that starts them after your house burns down, you worry about the ongoing fire You see the thing is, this has been bubbling under the surface for a long time, for a HECK of a lot of people, and all it has taken is 1 single incident (however misinformed that incident was) to set the powderkeg alight It was ALWAYS going to shift towards outrage at grooming gangs, soldiers being stabbed, attacks on police at airports, ect ect ect the SECOND their was even a hint that this was carried out by anyone other than a white person ....it was inevitable And it was ALWAYS going to escalate based on the reaction of the people in power And the fact is that Kier Starmer (man of the people) has handled this like an emotionless drone He FAILED to address the concerns of parents of the children that were killed (as he went to lay flowers, he just ran off like a coward) He FAILED to arrest muslim men walking the streets with machetes (and i dont care WHY they had them, its still illegal, the police would have pounced on a white man with such a weapon) And then he made his 2 biggest FAILURES first he turned around and basically branded ANY anti-immigration protester as FAR RIGHT simply because of the actions of a few nutcases, and that has done nothing but fan the flames of anger in those who were their PEACFULLY to begin with (those simply their to ask why they havent adressed the immigration issue, why they are releasing 40,000 prisoners ect) and at the same time has given the antifa crowd the idiotic and misinformed notion that they are all "fascists" when they are NOT (and i am sorry but if you disagree with that you are being as obtuse as the American NRA is about gun control) And then he decided he would raise an "army" to stop the people that simply want answers instead of simply answering their questions He FAILED when he tarred the people with the same broad "Far Right" brush, and the MSM is just as culpable for its one sided coverage and SENSATIONALIST headlines and blatently incorrect reporting I dont condone the violence, (even as an anarchist i think it should be a very LAST resort in very dire circumstance) but it isnt those people out their i am blaming for this Its Two Tier Kier Starmer, and (ironically, because again i am an Anarchist) i was one of the people that VOTED for him simply to get the Torys out
listen to bronn in game of thrones season 2 about the potential sack of kings landing and people in the economic world that in a crisis their are people who loot shit while others are spazzing out OK yes i paraphrased that but am i wrong 😁
We need a constitution to ensure equality under the law for all without regard for race or "marginalised group status".This would protect nonwhites and whites equally and it is equality that matters.
You really shouldn’t take seriously someone who wangs on about Free Speech one minute then runs off to Budapest to lick the boots of Victor “Friend of the Free Press” Orban.
Hang on, what's wrong with eating insects? Surely the irony is that since the assailant was of Somalian parents, shouldn't that have been sufficient grist for the mill without inventing a fake backstory?
the humans digestive tract can't extract much of the protein within insects without sigficant pre-preocessing, and farming at scale has remained a challange for several reasons. So far its simply more expencive, and less space effcient that traditional options as a primary sourse of protein, and the only people who are seriously considering it are start-up bros trying to find the next big thing.
1. Nothing, provided you're not a vegan/vegetarian. Most of the world eats insects, including the western world, look up what goes into red colouring or some waxing agents. 2. His parents came from Rwanda, quite ironic given the public discourse the last couple of years, which has something like a 95% christian majority. So a Syrian muslim right off the boat would work better to stir people up. Why such a person would cross half the world to do that or why he would cross most of England to do that instead of in Kent is not something that crosses faRAGE's fan boys' minds.

@andrewcowell. Braverman isn't standing in the Conservative leadership challenge. Jenrick, Cleverly, Patel or Tugenhart... One of those 4. Altho seriously, who cares?
