Thank you for much for this video. I am also a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W coming up to 13 years a day at a time. There are many video posted on RU-vid relating to recovery and I often find them a little egocentric. I found your way of delivering the message heartfelt and caring. You have a new follower my friend. Garvin for 🇮🇪
Thank you for the shout out! 💜 beautiful video! I remeber during withdrawls falling to my knees and asking God to help me. I'm now struggling a bit to get deep into prayer because of my lack of focus and I know how important it is. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. It's a privilege to watch these videos.
Thank you for the kind words, Lauren 💜 The greatest pain I have ever expereienced has taken me to my knees, head to the floor, in a place of complete surrender and desperation, beyond my ability to convey in words. I have absolutely no doubt in a power greater than myself. A power that heard all those pleas of desperation. A power that gave me strength, perseverance and hope. I have since found that the more I tap into that power and connect to it, the more strength I gain, the more perseverance, the more hope, and the more grace. That has been my experience. My truth. Thanks again for sharing your experience with me, and your kind words. It is both encouraging and validating. Have a beautiful day 💜
I discovered that 5 minutes of meditation was not long enough to calm my mind. 15 minutes of meditation worked for me. At the end of 15 minutes my mind was "quiet"
Thank you KJ. It is hard for me to sit still and meditate. Thank for for sharing the different ways to meditate and for how ever long as you want. I do pray that can settle down and be able to meditate.
I believe this was a God shot as we call it😊🙏🏻 I was scrolling through videos & picked yours, as I am into my 4 th year of sobriety, I was needing something extra to add to my morning routine & I found this very clear & helpful. My sponsor also has a video on the 11th step prayer & I couldn't find it, so I came here.. To my surprise as I was listening to your voice you mentioned KJ & that's my initials..how about that😊🙏🏻💜 Namaste 🙏🏻
thank you so much for your clear and insightful introduction to the step 11 prayer.having been in and out of recovery and over the last 18 or so months ,i am now finding the benefits of prayer and meditation invaluable. thank you for reinforcing the importance of keeping the consistency in daily contact with my higher power, who i choose to call god.💚🙏↔️,c and LB 🐾🌞
Congratulations, Monique. I believe this is the year you get your marbles back. I'm sure you did beautifully at your meeting. I appreciate you sharing your experience and I'm glad you found the video to be helpful.
I had read, on p86 of the book Alcoholics Anonymous, 'We relax and take it easy. We don't struggle.' but decided to ignore this shared experience and struggle anyway. The prayer described as the St Francis prayer does not appear anywhere in his writings. The first printed version was attributed in a church magazine during the First World War as a eulogy to St Francis by an anonymous author.
Thank you, this was very motivating, my problem with 12 steps is indeed the presence of 'god' in most of steps as i am very agnostic. But your video makes me reconsider it and makes me open for a new view. I think today i will start go to meetings again, there is one at 4pm in down town.
Then don't focus. Just sit for 2 minutes and allow yourself to just BE. Then you can build up to maybe 5 minutes. Don't really need more time than that as long as you're doing it consistently. The consistency is more important than the amount of time.
Thanks for your video..Suggestion..please tell people that you and all of us are always recovering contingent on what we do today..people often don't know the difference between cured and recovered.
Hi Anon - Thanks for watching and for your comment. However, I disagree with that perspective. I consider myself recovered.... please see the Dr.'s Opinion in the Big Book. I am not "recovering." In fact, I am beyond recovered. I have well surpassed my level of consciousness and wellbeing prior to experiencing my substance use disorder. Telling people they will always be recovering is a very hopeless prospect. I think what is most important to understand is the length of time it takes to be fully recovered, which is generally about 2 years. Most people consider themselves to be recovered way too soon. Recovered is different from cured. There are also many people who are sober, who may be recovered physically but they are not even close to being recovered mentally or emotionally. As for the doing part, there are definitely things I do every day to keep my spirit strong. You may be interested in reading my book "The Warrior's Guide to Successful Sobriey" wherein I discuss recovery based upon behavioral kinesiology and Dr. David Hawkin's Map of Consciousness. I think you may find it interesting. Thanks again for watching.
