I have several frugal living tools that save me so much! First of all, when the health crisis hit and there was no bathroom tissue to be had at any price, I found that I could reduce my usage by 75% by making piddle cloths. I took scrap fabric (I sew so this is abundant) and recycled flannel and cut them into squares and rectangles - I wasn't very precise, so they're all sorts of sizes and shapes. I ran them on zig-zag and now, I just accumulate them in a small bin in the bathroom and wash with regular wash. They're no more contaminated than regular underwear. Even though bathroom tissue is no longer in short supply, I still use these because they are far less irritating than paper. Next - we typically keep a bottle of dishwashing liquid next to the sink and how many times have I grabbed that for "just a drop" which turned out to be more like a light squirt for a single dish that I needed urgently. That is SO wasteful. Now I have a spray bottle containing one-half oz of dish soap to 31.5 oz water to spray, clean and rinse that urgent tool. This solution is significantly more concentrated than the regular dish-pan solution and it works very well. It works on tomato worms, too. I have quite a collection of bar-mops from COSTCO or dish towels from IKEA. These are less than $1.00 ea, but the price may have gone up. I use these instead of paper towels, and the only thing I really use those for is blotting bacon, or cleaning up doggy yack. For draining fried foods, I have a rack that I set over a baking sheet that works far better than paper towels, so that might be another savings. You didn't mention your instant pot or air fryer. I have found that I can get an excellent pot of beans using dried beans and my instant pot for less than half of the cost of canned beans. Cooking is something I do very well, and I make from scratch most things that people go to the prepared foods area. I also can and have an All American 941 pressure canner that is a life and wallet saver. Even if I don't have room in the freezer(s), I can can up some of the meat I can get on sale or even can the older stuff and replace it with new. My turkey-stuffing casserole is a hit here and my family never says anything about it not being "Thanksgiving..." or whatnot because I have raised the to know that food is tied neither to a clock or calendar. That's why we usually see left - over supper for breakfast. I try not to let any food go to waste, but sometimes it just happens. Using the air fryer saves a lot of money over using the big oven, and I love it for re-heating things you want to be crispy. I re-use the larger dish washing liquid bottles as a "poor person's bidet." Just fill up with water to squirt off the affected areas. Cuts way down on tp usage, and you feel cleaner, too. I use only a tbs or 2 of laundry soap liquid instead of the amounts on the bottles, and set the machine to heavy duty. Clothes get clean from the water and agitation much more than the soap. Most of the time, I use the detergent to pre-treat the spots and then put what's left in the bottom. I love oxy clean and especially bleach for the towels. We know about line-drying already. Those are some fast ones. I'm sure I can come up with more as time goes on.
I also make these but I buy cheap bath cloths and cut them in 4ths and zigzag them. I also have a bidet and love it. I don't like the fact that our bathroom tissue is now made in China but honestly, it is made with toxic stuff so even in the USA it is not good.
Hi Emmy! I'm a librarian, so thank you for recommending people use their library cards! YES! You pay for this service with your taxes, so cash in and read some books :) Also, if the library doesn't have what you want, the librarian can often interlibrary loan the book or movie from another library.
I tell people that I allow the public library to store my books for me. I can almost always find what I want to read, watch, listen to at the library. The only time I buy books is for gifts -- or when the wait list is too long for my book discussion group. I read dozens of books a year for very little money.
I just did a quick run-through of the book she recommended as an ebook from my library. I almost always check the books out at the library before I buy any. I also listen to audiobooks online as I do my cross stitch or sewing. My library is celebrating its 60th year which means I've been going to it since I was 13 ys old (bookmobile)
A lot of libraries offer free books or sell books inexpensively so I definitely take advantage of those great deals! I love a good bargain like anyone else. It just makes sense to get something as cheap as you can .
Another great video! Paul's comment about the floor mats had me laughing; my husband's garage BFF is his code reader. Library = ❤❤❤. One of my greatest frugal living tools are my clothes lines. I don't think I've used my clothes dryer to dry my clothes since May. I do use air fluff for about 10 minutes after line drying clothes to get rid of any pollen, or residual dog hair, etc. When you talked about attitude I have to share that each night before sunset I walk through our vegetable garden doing one last look for any infestation or to check on watering needs but I also take the time to thank my garden for another great day of growing and producing (and thank God as well). I thank my flowers, too since they bring in the pollinators. I might sound a little hippy dippy but yah, I talk to my garden.
I name my plants. Too weird? Novice gardener got flowers, plants, but no veg this year. Will keep trying. I too like the peace and challenge it offers.
I can add another suggestion. Pump bottles. When contents no longer pump out. Remove the pump nozzle, turn the bottle upside down and let the contents drip into a jar. I was amazed how much hand cream was still in that bottle. It filled the jar almost to the top. Same goes for shampoo bottles. Turn it upside down and let it drip out.
Yes! I’ve actually cut some containers in half to get inside to get out every last bit. I own two makeup spatulas for this purpose. They have long handles and very small silicone scrapers on them but even those don’t get everything out. My husband thinks I’m crazy until he sees how much is left in an “empty” container.

Hi Emmy. I love that you mentioned having paper and pencil/pen on hand. I am not one that likes electronics. I never have. I live in the South, and I have experienced a major black out in Southeast Texas. There had been an accident in one area, but it knocked out total power for many counties. Within a matter of minutes, it was total chaos. No purchasing food, gas, anything. The chaos that started in just a matter of minutes was frightening to say the least. When the power goes down, there is no way of purchasing anything when everything is all electronic. I have always felt that we need to keep the "old ways" of doing things.... ie: pen/paper like you said. I am so glad you brought that up. Everything you have mentioned are awesome ideas. My insulated travel coffee cup. It has a lid that I can close to prevent spills, and I use it all the time. My two great weaknesses is Op Shops and coffee shops. I can visit the coffee shop twice a day....my coffee costs $4.90 per cup as coffee can be expensive here in Australia. That worked out to nearly $300 per month. I nearly passed out....so...that had to stop and I bought my travel cup and make my own coffee. It's not the same, but then my bank account isn't either, it's $300 per month better off. 😉
Fun video topic! Since my husband just took a job with our church (with a much smaller paycheck, but eternal rewards!) I am more motivated than ever to be frugal. I was raised by a very frugal mother, and I thank her often for that. :). My favorite frugal tools include my clothes drying rack and clothesline, the Dave Ramsey money envelope method (38 years and counting for this!), Aldi, being a homebody, the library, You Tube, and my online frugal friends including you!
This kind of goes along with your sewing kit... Today I was walking through our local consignment store, and in one of the booths, they had jars of buttons for $10 each. I grew up with everyone having a jar of buttons, so they could repair clothes if a button came off. Hi Deborah, I have several old mason jars filled with my Mother's and Mother-in-Laws buttons they saved during their lifetime (I'm 62 years old). And, I always remove the buttons from clothing that is no longer useful. Guess I should come up with an idea to repurpose all those buttons. 😉
I have a mimeographed 1975 copy of Carla Emery's book in a 3-ring binder (over 600 pages!) that I bought at a thrift store more than 20 years ago. It's such a treasure trove of homemaking wisdom! My biggest frugal tip is just to stay home. I find that when I leave the house, not only am I using gas, I inevitably spend money on things I don't really need. If I do need to go out, I combine all my errands as best I can. Also, I take a cooler with water and snacks with me, so I don't get tempted to stop at a fast food restaurant for a bottled water/meal. And, like you, I take advantage of my library a LOT.
Thank you so much for reminding me to make a hard copy of all my phone numbers and addresses. I never even thought about doing so but can clearly see how important it is. My frugal top is to be thankful for my food. An animal gave its life so I could eat. Do not waste it.
It will probably sound silly but my imagination with throwing ingredients together has made some of the most delicious, then beloved meals. I’m making a handwritten cookbook for my granddaughter (so they’ll be here after I’m gone and in my handwriting), and it’s always funny when at dinner she’ll say Nonnie can you add this to my book? And I tell her that I will try to remember what I put in there and she gets annoyed that I don’t write it down as I go. But I cook with love and it’s my passion. My microwave, crock pot, blender, kitchen aid mixer, bread machine. I can't live without them. My sewing machine has been one of my biggest money Saver. I use it for mending, making pocketbooks, luggage, gifts, pot holders, placemats, and quilting is my biggest entertainment. I try and use fabric from the free table at the senior center or quilting guild. The freezer use to be my biggest money Saver. Can't have one where I live now.
Water bottle/cup so that I can always bring something to drink with me. Simple, but it usually keeps me from buying something to drink while out shopping, running errands, etc.
One thing that I like to do is to keep a journal. It can be a daily motivational tool. You can keep your budget list, along with your goals that you are wanting to achieve. Writing down your plans on how to achieve your goals helps. In school they used to teach us to journal, even daily chores and weekly chores. It helps to make projects go along a lot smoother. I love your tips.I use the library frequently. I also crochet as a hobby. I make hats for the children and homeless people for the winter. Keeping busy and being thankful go hand in hand. TY.

Very helpful tip from Paul about the car diagnostic mechanism. You had a smart Dad to give that to you. Most auto part stores have those and can diagnose a car problem or test a battery for you. I've gone there to see what the problem was and see if my battery was salvageable. I ended up needing a new one after 2 attempts it wouldn't keep a charge. . One of the best things that keeps my costs down is Walmart delivery. By ordering online I’m not going into the store and impulse buying plus it keeps me on track with my spending. If the bottom line costs in my order gets too high I can look through my cart and decide what I don’t really need. It’s much easier than physically taking things out of a real grocery cart. Plus with delivery as long as I spend more than $35 it will be at my door when I decide it will and all I have to do is take things out of bags and put them away. It’s not perfect but I cannot imagine taking the hour plus time and doing a weeks worth of grocery shopping by physically going through the store. Yes I have to tip the gig worker making the delivery but I’m giving a few dollars to someone who is trying to make a few extra bucks: mothers, students and people out of work who need it.
I'm also a huge fan of grocery store pick up or delivery. It saves time and money and for me (still employed full time) time is money. This has been a game changer for me.
This is one of the best things that I have done was get WalMart delivery. It saves me so much time and money. I just became a Walmart plus member last November and I wish I would have done it sooner. Even with leaving the delivery driver a tip it is still save me money because I would have to put gas in my car and then drive through the traffic to get to Walmart. And our Walmart is located by a bunch of fast food places that I'm not even tempted to stop at anymore since I'm not out there. And I do like the convenience of just taking it off my delivery list if my total is over my budget. I just put it in safe for later and start by adding that into next week's list if I still want it.
My most valuable frugal living tool is my budget! Being intentional with money has made such a difference! Plus spending cash more. I also find its better to surround yourself with fellow frugal people, most people just think its weird and poke fun. My fellow frugal followers understand that its being intentional not cheap!
My silicone spatula, my kitchen aid mixer with a spatula blade, and a dough hook, and my indoor and outdoor clotheslines/drying racks. A well organized pantry and freezer, know what you have on hand, at all times. My canning supplies, jars,lids, rings, and canning pots. All of these things help me stick with the basics and brings me inner peace of knowing that we will never be without.
I would agree with everything. I also keep a binder filled with plastic sheet protectors and recipes I’ve found over the years in magazines and on the internet. I use a drying rack. I love my Barkeepers Friend cleanser. Baking soda and vinegar for all sorts of clean ups
My favorite frugal tools are RU-vid and my sewing machine. I feel like I am getting mini courses when watching your channel and Mary’s Nest, who shows how to make the down to earth basics such as sourdough bread, ferments and nutritious bone broth. As you mentioned, there are many intelligent people on RU-vid sharing their wealth of knowledge. I also find many fun things to sew. Some items even help save money, like “unpaper towels”. I used old towels and leftover fabrics and have made rectangles about the size of half a sheet of paper towel. My husband and I use them to wipe up spills, make our sandwiches on, lay our coffee spoons on. The only thing we use real paper towels for is when grease must be wiped up. Love all of your items on the list!
I’ve gotten several fully stocked sewing boxes from either yard sales or house clean outs where the family puts it out for the trash. I’ve gotten a kitchen cart, an antique record cabinet, wicker plant stand, porch table and a straw broom from peoples trash. I took recycling to the township cardboard recycling dumpster (clean, not food trash or gross stuff!) and the bottom was filled with vintage greeting cards from the 50’s-70’s. I had a grabber in my car and got as many as I could- that was my best find ever!! I use them for junk journals.
My pressure canner and canning supplies. My MIL taught me how to can 40 years ago. I can't even imagine the amount of money I have saved. We grow a large garden and I can whatever we don't eat fresh. I also can meats now, broths, soups, just about everything. Love the tips
I taught myself how to can out of the Blue Ball Canning book. Been canning 27 years now. Saves a lot of money, healthier and you can use the pressure cooker to come cheaper cuts off meat to fork tender( instead of buying higher price cuts off meat, most meals done in pressure cooker is done within 1 hour or less. And the flavors goes through the food compared of going around the food in a crock pot or oven
Every time one or all the grandboys come for a vist, they ask to play a game or play outside! A few months ago my step dad taught his great grandson, our grandson, to play tic tac toe. He loved it. Thank you for all that you do. I had to laugh with your sewing kit. I have had one since I have been 10 years old. I now have a fishing lure container, since I have always made everything for house and for family. Stocking is getting a little easier, I had a panic attack at store with pricing and purchasing. I love board games. I have even taught my students how to play board games. They love it. Puzzles, books and board games are always at yard sales and in thrift stores.

I have a similar book called Storey's Basic Country Skills. I keep my life in my spiral notebooks that I get this time of year for 25 cents each! I do my meal planning, camping lists, etc etc and I love them!! Now my daughter in law does the notebook thing too! :--)
I love that you help people to realize that they should have their pantry stocked. If a crisis should come you will not be needing to buy the food or other goods that is left in the stores, leaving it for the ones that aren’t quite as prepared. ❤️

Tuesday,I intend to stock up,WITHIN REASON,on household and pet supplies. buying two containers of kitty litter,two bags of cat food,toilet paper,etc. also,it's a wise idea to start saving for the upcoming holiday season.its already mid July. buy the best quality possible. store things correctly. make sure the fridge and freezer work effectively,and shut properly.we had an issue where the fan was not working in our fridge.we got it fixed,but ,sadly had to throw some food out. a gallon of milk,some salad,eggs,and creamer.i won't chance it
I'm sure someone already mentioned this in the comments but most auto supply stores have the plug in diagnostic tool that you can use free of charge. They'll even print you out a report when you're done with it. This helps my husband and I a lot in trying to figure out if it's something we can diy or not :)
I didn't realize just how frugal I really am til I watched this video. I do all these things. Our library has a used book store and I always buy used books from .25 - $2. That way I get a good book and the library gets a donation! When I'm done with the book it goes into my "little library" in my front yard for someone else to enjoy. I laugh when you talk about your food saver being old, mine is over 20 years old and I use it ALL the time. I think I need a new one! Great tips! The Encyclopedia of Country Living looks really fun to thumb through. I think one of our most valuable tools for saving money has been our reusable thermal drinking bottles. My husband and I each have a really good one that we take to work every day, on trips, etc. We bought them with a gift card a couple of years ago and I can't calculate how much they've saved us!
In response to your question of the day, I think belonging to a community of frugal friends is invaluable! Not sure if this counts as an "item"😉, but God has used our church and close friends to bless us SO many times. I don't know how people cope without that kind of support. Wonderful video!!! 🌻
That's a really good one! One time my husband's transmission went out on his truck and had to be towed to a repair place. Our kids were young and money was so tight that we had absolutely no idea how we would pay for it. An anonymous person at our church paid for the repairs without our knowing about it and to this day, we don't know who it was. We thank God for them!
What a great tip. I think it ties in with the perception of frugal living, if you have a community behind you they keep you positive and on track and give you plenty of new tips and ideas and they see the real value in the effort that is made of living frugally while those who don't quiet often don't understand and sometimes harshly judge. I remember a lady in work telling me she decided to paint a room in her house and proudly told a friend of what she had done and he proceeded to calculate to her that this was a waste of time if she based it on her free time vs salary. He totally did not get the concept of the feeling of achievement and skills she learnt (...for free..)
My most valuable frugal living thing to do is to break my income into categories, establish an amount for each category, and keep a running tab on what I've spent and what I have left on each category. I use pen and paper. I haven't kept up with it do much this year because I'm used to my expenditures for the most part. The second most valuable frugal tactic I use is declaring and maintain a no spend year. Necessities, I buy, but only the most cost effective items or services. I shop for quality, longevity and cost: I don't always buy the cheapest, but I'll get the most bang for the buck. 3rd...every thing I do buy needs to be on discount, sale, discontinuation, etc. I also ask for and haggle for discounts when I do buy something. I've even haggled at the grocery store and gotten deals. Love listening to you and Paul! Love to you both! 😊❤
Loved this video Emmy!!! It hit home with me in so many ways. watching cooking shows on TV makes me cringe to see them not scape out the bowl!!! I always try to mend clothes and if something is just past using and has buttons i cut them off before tossing in the rag bag! Something from my mom's house after she passed that I just love using is she made a bath matt out of a very heavy robe she bought at a yard sale! It's washable so easily with the towels! I do a lot of repairing or altering of clothes for my kids and grandkids. My sewing kit, plus my basic sewing machine both get a lot of work!! We enjoy board games at family gatherings also!
Oh, I've been a mender since a youngins. Remember mom teaching me to handle. Then years later when in college, was in a historical reenactment group w/ friends and remember helping another member make her n bfs matching garb And in college, no sewing machine. Shed started before I was around and started at them up so fabric slipped. I got there, figured it out , ripped out seam and had resewn her dress before she got bfs tunic (and he was a shorty, maybe 5'2"ish height so half) length her dress before she had his. Local libraries , theres 5 branches, three of them know me very well. 1 branch threatens to give me a key and let me sleep there since there often.
I am using my (very old) food saver sealer (without the vacuum option) to make baggies from bread bags or whatever food save plastic wrap. I never buy those zip lock or seal top lunch baggies, and instead, seal sandwiches in recycled bread bags. I also save clear plastic from all sorts of stuff to custom seal yard sale items - which makes them look like new- and they stay clean and hygenic.

I have often subscribed to the online magazine when we needed to buy appliances or cars - I'll not need to spend that money again. It's amazing what my library has for free

I'm a little late watching this week. Been sick, but feeling better now. I'm glad I watched when I did. Picked up a grocery order earlier today and when you mentioned cereal, I didn't remember seeing the cereal I ordered. Called and they refunded the $$. I wasn't going to make an extra trip for a box that was really just a filler item to make the minimum purchase. It can't be emphasized enough about storing only what you eat. In my early years, I don't know how much food was wasted because we stored things we just didn't eat. Our pantry is much smaller and simpler these days for that reason. Only what we eat. I love my food saver. Keeps the freezer burn away. My grandkids love board games. I saved all the games from when my boys were little.
Great tips. The paper and pen really are important. I live in Ontario and last week one of the main internet providers was down for over 24hour and big eye opener that you must have 'old school' of info handy and cash available cuz no atms worked and stores could only deal with cash and credit. I definitely am being more prepared and not leaving all my eggs in one basket of providers
I love the Food Saver, too. We live on the Gulf Coast and do lots of fishing, all the Snapper, Redfish, speckled Trout goes in the freezer in the vacuum bags. Tastes great, not as wonderful as fresh as swimming in the Gulf this morning and into the pan that night, but close!
Your Encyclopedia of Country Living reminds me of The Tightwad Gazette books. I have them all and they changed my life in the 1990s. I have so many frugal living tools but the best is advice/mindset: Live beneath your means, and save as much $s as your can.
The Tightwad Gazette changed my life as well. I remember Amy & her husband were on a talk show and the audience was laughing at the things they were doing regularly. It made so much sense to me that I started taking notes. Ordered the back issues of their newsletters and bought every book. No regrets as I got to stay home with my babies.
Emmy, another thing I do is keep an inventory on an excell spreadsheet (work was upgrading computers so I got the hard drive for free and bought a used keyboard, monitor and mouse). Every item is noted showing location (yes, i use every spare space - under beds, hall closet, bookcases), size and quantity and when I pull something out I adjust the quantity. This is also a good tool for knowing what I need to stock up on.

I wanted to comment on your last video. I think you could make a rue,whitesauce add your chichen or beef and vegs and pour it into a pkg. of noodles or rice,or mash potatoes and mix aa together,season add cheese if you would like and spread in cake pan bake for one half hr. at 375 dergrees. take out and serve with salad ect. My daughters and son in laws laugh at me for the amount of spare food that I keep on hand but they love it when I can whip up a meal for them all when they pay me a surprise visit! Wonderful content as always! A frugal living strategy I have done for decades is my "coin" jar. Pennies/coins quickly turn to dollars. I roll them up into free paper coin wrappers gotten at the bank and cash them in at the bank without the fee charged by the supermarket coin-redemption machines. It's found money!

Needed a sewing machine, picked out a $250 model, looked at Facebook market place and found a used one for $50. Repairing all our old clothes instead of taking them to a dressmaker

I just want to share this idea in stocking up my pantry. This happens to me at times, when I bought canned food that somehow didn't pan out to my expectations. The food might look good from the outside of the can, but, somehow I didn't like how it taste. The taste might appeal to other people. I then put the rest of the cans aside saved for my food bank bags. Besides that I get to buy a large bag of beans, and make use of my food saver and I include packets of it for donation to the food bank.
My tip is to know what you like, simple little things, and find the best price / economic option to make it happen rather than to always give in and pay full or over price. Don’t deny yourself if you know you’re going to want something so bad you’ll pay more for it. If you know you enjoy a pop after work, buy a case or figure out an alternative that suits you, rather than paying premium at a vending machine / quickie mart.
Hi Emmy and Paul, I agree with all your tools. I love my oscillating fans. They keep the air circulating and allows me to adjust the air conditioning a couple degrees. I love my crockpots and instant pot because they don’t heat up the house. My lunch bag, reusable containers, thermos and travel mug for taking my lunch to work or an outing has saved me so much money over the years. Last but not least is patience; saving up for a large purchase, waiting for clearance sales, or keeping an eye out for a want at yard sales or thrift store , even learning a new skill takes patience and it’s one of the best tools in my skill set.
Yessss! The spatula! I love it. And important for those who have no dishwasher (like us). To scratch all plates, all plates, al bowls before washing the dishes makes it easier, quicker and safes me water. My favourite kitchen tool and the only one in plastic 😉.
Part of our frugal journey includes this advice: regardless of my circumstances. I know how to be low on provisions and how to have an abundance. In everything and in all circumstances I have learned the secret of both how to be full and how to hunger, both how to have an abundance and how to do without.
My husbablnd age 37, me age 35. We did everything in our power to be now mortage free and credit free. We really hit hard everyday to pay off the house and college loan by using all type of frugal hacks big or small. Plus nonstop side hustle like selling cans & bottles, repairing electronics to resell etc
LOVED THIS!!!! I even took notes! I was pleased to note that I do many of these, and, I learned many more. Just yesterday, I pulled out my sewing kit to mend a bra! Yes, I did! :)
I do them all. My husband and I played Boggle many times during our dating years and marriage instead of spending money on movies or bowling. We started dating in 1977, so that is a long time of being frugal. I learned to sew at 14. I don’t make my clothing anymore, but do alterations and learned how to hem jeans like the stores do from RU-vid. I also learned how to change watch batteries from RU-vid and save a lot of money. My newest frugal tool is the Freecycle and Buy Nothing groups in my area. I have gotten so many things and have given away things we don’t need anymore.
I bought my adult son a basic sewing kit for Christmas. I wasn't sure how it would be received. He loved it. He said he really needed one for buttons etc. I told him he could have bought himself one and he said it was something he just didn't think of while out shopping.
Great idea! I carry a pocket knife in my apron pocket. If I run out to the garden for something I can just cut it off. If I need to open an envelope, I’m ready. Etc… Another knife I love is just a regular table knife. I keep on that I use to clean with. I will put it under my rag and can get into corners or along tiny edges and clean, like the edges on the stove, etc.
Thank you for lots of great ideas. The car code reader is very handy if you have a check engine light on. Where I live, you can also drive to Autozone or a similar store and they’ll use their reader to tell you the codes. A common problem is not putting to gas cap back on correctly after a fill-up. Be sure it’s on straight and make sure it clicks at least twice when turning it. I saved a co-worker from a planned mechanic visit by suggesting he try it. Also, after checking the code on my granddaughter’s car, I noticed a cracked gas cap-$15 fix instead of a trip to a garage.
Thank you Emmy and Paul for your tips! I just went and got myself a food saver it’s come in sooo handy this yr so far with all my harvest from our garden. I think my biggest frugal savings comes from not using my clothes dryer. It is a VERY VERY rare occasion that I use it all of my clothes are hung outside or inside on racks . Helps to save the life of the clothes too ! Blessings
I'm so glad Paul mentioned about topping off your tank. My neighbor told me I shouldn't be doing it because it can cause problems. Now whenever I fill up, when the pump stops, that's it! I know longer try to get the total to the next whole dollar or gallon.
I think the most frugal thing we do is that I meal plan and make a grocery list. I do remember, many years ago, going grocery shopping without a list but I can't imagine doing that now. I think I'll look into a code reader. Thanks, Paul!
One of my favorite tools are glass jars. Whether they're mason jars or spaghetti jars or jelly jars you can use them for all kinds of things. To store things in, they will keep fruits and vegetables longer in the refrigerator, I use them instead of plastic Ziploc bags that get tossed out...
One of my best frugal tools is my Tupperware containers the ones that have climate control. They save aot of money. Great tips! I would like a Food Saver. Thank you and have a great day.

Woke up this morning with slug all over the laundry room. So glad I had the money to have our line snaked out. Putting away all the money not used during the month I didn’t have to worry about it. Only think I have to worry about is when will they come? No water or toilet. Small price to pay and worry free. I always have a notebook by my chair. See something on you tube . Write it in the notebook. Have a separate one for menu and shopping. The menu stays in as well as a shopping list. I make a copy and take it to the store. This way if I forget or to busy I can go back through and make a copy of both. Love to watch your channel.
I was traveling solo and my check engine light came on. I stopped at the closest auto parts store (so sorry I can’t remember which one to give them creds) and they checked this out for me for FREE with what must be the device Paul was sharing about. It was my catalytic converter but I knew I was safe to finish my travels and then get that fixed. So that’s an idea for you as well. Maybe check your local auto parts stores and see if they would do that for you.
This was lovely, thank you. 2 tips- anything liquid, add water to it- hand soap, detergent etc. Limit the amount that can be dispensed in any 1 action- press pumps are great for this. Oh, and work out the best way to shopfor you, could be a massive monthly or daily, but use what you buy.
I bought a spray bottle especially designed for cooking oil. I fill it up with olive oil and use that instead of buying expensive cans of cooking oil spray.
@@FrugalMoneySaver The bottle is food grade. I agree that is very important. It is made by a brand in Australia called Decor who manufacture amongst other things, plastic and glass food containers.
Awesome video! I would just like to add to your comment about using your library. Our library also includes things like two free tickets a month to a museum, seeds for gardening, things like special cake pans, tools etc some libraries have a lot more to offer than just books DVDs and magazines.
