I use the laundry sheets, too and take out enough for our trip and also take dryer sheets and color block sheets and put them all in a small ziplock. The dryer sheets also work if you have static electricity; you can run a sheet lightly over your clothes or hair and still use the sheet for your dryer. I also keep a packing list on my phone. Also, I put luggage tags on my carryon and my backpack and apple AirTags in all bags, whether checked or carryon and my backpack. I also have my name, email and phone number on a half sheet of letter size paper, and written large enough to see and place it on top of my packing cubes in case my bag were to get lost and my luggage tag came off for any reason. I like the idea of keeping all liquids with one person and all electronics with another. When flying alone, I keep my iPad and liquids bag together in the top or outside of my backpack for easy access. I usually don’t need to take anything out with TSA Precheck, but I’ve been to small airports that don’t have a Precheck line so I pack as if I may need to pull things out. I also don’t wear any jewelry or my Apple Watch thru security and put anything on after I gather my bags. Hope this helps!

I split my packing list into what goes into my personal item vs. main bag. Small amounts of certain items (Advil, Pepto Bismol tablets) go into my personal item in case I need them on the flight and a larger bottle goes into my main bag for the rest of the trip. That way, I just reach into my personal item under the seat and don't have to retrieve anything out of the overhead compartment during the flight. I also double-bag liquids and tape the inside bag tightly closed to prevent leakage, then put that into the quart-size zip top bag.

Yes! It's also super helpful as parents because kids tuck things in weird spaces and we don't want to leave behind their blankies or other important items.

I use packing cubes. What is your take on them?

I don't use them for everything, but I do like them to keep smaller things together (i.e. undergarments and socks or good for kids clothes) and good when luggage doesn't have a good sorting layout already.
