Another fact is that he is the first licensed character that benefits both party’s when it comes to sells. Fun World have released costumes based on DBD’s Ghost Face original outfits. Also He was the first licensed killer to get a Blighted outfit.

Really smart to go to Fun World, instead of trying to license Ghost Face from the Scream movies. It gave them a ton of leeway with Ghost Face, not just with outfits, but with the lore and everything else. I'm glad Fun World was so willing to do it, great License.

The name “the ghost” was actually changed not because of licensing, but because of translation issues. The word “ghost” and “spirit” are the same in certain languages, and BHVR couldn’t have two characters with the same name. Also the flip phone camera was changed because ghostface is from the 90’s, front facing cameras didnt exist on phones in the 90’s

The name translating poorly and BHVR not wanting to have two killers with the same name makes a lot of sense, *but* the Spanish version of DBD translates The Plague into La Plaga, and The Blight into La Plaga. Spanish doesn't seem to have separate words for the two, and in English both plague and blight are practically synonyms with only a difference in nuance.

in the portuguese translation the trapper is called caçador, which translates to hunter, while the huntress is called caçadora, so when i first played the game i got really confused about these two

i think ghost face should’ve been called “The Stalker” or maybe even “The Photographer.” stalker could fit with myers too, but with myers being referred to as “the shape” in the movies it makes sense, but ghost face never has the “the” before his name

I think it's a brilliant name. Not only does it sound like "The Ghostface killer", something newspapers would call a mysterious killer on the rise, but calling him "The Ghostface" was a good idea, because ANYONE can be behind the mask, ANYONE can be Ghostface. There's no one distinct Ghostface, it's a series of killers with multiple people behind the persona. Yeah, "The Stalker" or "The Photographer" could've been good names, but it defeats the meaning behind the whole spirit of who Ghostface is.

I love how since ghost face is technically behaviors own character they can do anything they want with him. So if the license holders wants their property removed. Instead of the character getting removed only the mask can be removed and they can just replace it with their own mask and rename the character to anything they want and it wouldn’t fuck up anything

As a Scream fan, I can mention a few other differences that the classic skin/Fun World costum has from the screen used costumes in Scream: 1) is a lighter fabric 2) the gloves are not attached 3) the arm drapes are significantly different 4) has a belt 5) has a tighter fit

5:30 I think if he were to hum it would only be when there’s one survivor left. In the DBD lore he’s a very calculated killer who’s only cocky because he’s already made sure he can get away with it. That’s the only way I can see it fit considering with his kit he’s pretty much the mascot of stealth killers,and it fits lore wise.

So him doing mori on not-last survivor kinda breaks it. But I see bigger problem with humming - he's a stealth killer and lullabies break any kind of stealth, so that would be a big nerf to him. Giving him humming even against last survivor would make it easier for them to escape through hatch/exit gates.

The whole thing about characters inspired by real life murderers/serial killers applies to another killer. The Doctor is well documented as being heavily inspired on the real chinese doctor Yang Yongxin. Tho calling him a doctor may be more credit than he deserves, same as the character, Yang is obssessed with using Electro Consulsive therapy to "treat" disorders in many patients and seems to have a targeted audience of young gamers, since gaming addiction is rampant in china and parents there are more inclined to using extreme measures to get their kids out of it, hence why the Survivor that released with the Doctor being a Chinese Gamer (Feng Min). I don't know how true this is but I also remember reading somehwere that BHVR said The Doctor was going to be Chinese as well but was changed to be an American psychiatrist from the Cold War era to avoid too many parallels with the inspiration.

Technically speaking, we do have an unmasked Ghostface, in the form of his blight outfit, which if I'm not mistakes states that he's not wearing a mask, but that instead his face was melted into that shape.

I still think they should have an add on for ghostie where if he injuries the obsession, he mimics their injured sounds and it places his heart beat on them until he either downs or injures another survivor. If he goes into stealth mode, he continues to make the injury sounds but they are more muffled and not directional. Can’t remember who said that comment but I seen it on Reddit and it sounded like it’d be fun to play with if it were real.

@@Johnatron Wes Craven died in 2015, game was released on 2016, before releasing they yet hasn't started making actual plans for bringing them into the game. Both franchises are owned by different studios from what I know. Wes Craven was actually really into adapting Ghostface into other media as long as it was done right. Idk why studios didn't originally agreed, but I do know that they both made a big mistake ( and in Scream case, saying that it wouldn't fit game is a really weak reasoning, that even I could easily argue with) and devs made mistakes about not fighting for them harder, by the course of action and all the leaks, I truly do believe that with GF they were both preaperd to either add GF alone or as a whole chapter (or at least original, like Bubba), but they rushed it. With NOLS I can understand it since it was really rough, sort timing and they cared a lot to bring it into the game, while obviously not having as much experience

Nice facts! My personal favorite fact is Ghost face early beta had a flip phone instead at the time instead of the camera, and it would be cool if they had it so it’s a rare occurrence with the Mori to have the flip phone instead of the camera. That would make Ghost face way cooler to play as.

7:48 The picture of that guy is not the Gainesville Ripper. The guy in the picture is named Edward Humphrey, although he was charged for assault, he had nothing to do with the murders. The Police suspected that he was was the murder, but there wasn’t enough evidence for that. Danny Rolling is the real Gainesville Ripper

i don't think that they glorified danny rollins per se. there's obviously a fine line between respectfully using real life inspiration and exploitation of tragedy, but i think they're different enough to where this doesn't count as glorification or exploitative at all and man, some of those alpha sound effects sound really cool. i like the 3rd and 5th ones a lot. i wonder if they worked them into his other sound effects somehow. i would love if they brought the 5th one back as a subtle layer to his chase theme when you're exposed.

I'm sad tho that there used to be a sound (of course taken from the og movie, but unfortunately I don't remember it's name) that played when Michael was close to tier 3, but unfortunately it's no longer used. I think it was a bug that made it not play so the devs decided to not fix the issue, as it could've been considered a buff.

Sort of like how the Dev mentioned "Entity magic", belts floating shows that The Entity has a part in Ghostie's outfit, as it makes it float. Practically, The Entity itself affects Ghost Face (who doesn't find it annoying), and therefore they have a "connection".

It’s a supernatural part of a rather simple outfit. A “gift” from the entity to show that Ghostface works for it. Trickster for example has no supernatural part about him, showing that Ghostface is in fact more connected to The Entity than Trickster.

I find it hard to believe about the connection to a real-life murderer, considering that, while loading into the game, it says something along the lines of any and all connections to real life are coincidental, and I wouldn't imagine thats a risk BHVR wants to take.

my father went to the university danny rolling targeted in gainseville. it's a blessing that the scream movie's inspiration was so loose (and kinda dubious, i think it was as far as getting the idea for a slasher movie from a true crime documentary), because beyond just killing those people, the things he did to i can only imagine shock those who would have to find the aftermath is dark. dark as in, completely beyond the pale even to most people who have killed someone else. it's sickening and not really anything very interesting (he just posed bodies) beyond how someone can just disregard and defy the respect you should feel for fellow human beings and be so proud of it. guy had dirt for brains, the kinda dirt you wouldn't walk barefoot across to take out the garbage. has no right having any character based on him or anyone play as him honestly. thankfully behaviour didn't made the connections too blatant, more of just a morbid reference.
