Awesome video, thank you for the escape. As a Scot, I should point out that the really hard bread you tried with jam was actually a potato scone...and an overcooked one by the looks of it. They'll go like leather if you overdo it. Pro tip, if you ever end up with one like that, cover it in the beans and it'll soften up a bit. :)

Whoever was the chef that cooked your breakfast, I apologise on their behalf for cooking such an appalling meal. That is not the standard I would accept in first class train travel. As a chef myself I would have complained and probably gone to the kitchen to teach the chef how to cook properly. Thankyou for your kind words and yes, there are plenty of better cooks, who produce better meals, in Scotland and England. However, welcome to the UK, I hope you enjoy your holiday 😊

I live at Loch Lomond so it was lovely to see a tiny glimpse of it here, though the road along part of it is a little bit narrow!! I did this sleeper train almost 20 years ago, but I was in a seat, not sure I could do that these days! Our food is quite unfairly judged. Yes we do have bad food here, but we also have LOTS of amazing food! Your first station in the dark in the morning was my regular train station for work for a few years and is called Singer after the famous Singer sewing machines (there was a huge factory there for years). The middle of nowhere station is called Crianlarich and I've been stranded there a couple of times! 😂 The cracker was a tattie scone - a type of potato cake (I love them when they're fried). The salty ham was a Lorne sausage. Courrour station is the most remote station in the UK and has featured in a few movies. I would love to get off the train there and go explore around Corrour! I really want to know what you thought of haggis!!

Nice video. I’ve been to Scotland on a motorbike 🏍️ with a friend and we traveled from London to John O’Groats . It was the end of September and it was getting pretty chilly the further north we went. Magnificent views the whole way with very friendly people in the local towns. It was great to get off the beaten track and explore the little towns. ❤ Have a great weekend.

I use to travel from England to Scotland and back again every month or so. Visiting my late grandad. From Birmingham to Glasgow. National Express!! It was very cheap, like £25 return! It was a long old trip but I got use to it. Now this, looks incredible. I'd have loved this. I honestly didn't even know anything about sleep trains! Superb.

The first station you stopped at was Edinburgh Waverly. On your breakfast plate the ham thing was square sausage, that is traditionally made from beef. The triangular object is a tattie scone, which is savoury and best eaten with some square sausage and beans also on the fork. I live your videos and excited that you came to the UK

Thank you very much for the trip, I must say that there was not much luck with the food, however I took the same route, I stayed in a student residence in Edinburgh where every day there was a breakfast buffet that I will never forget, delicious and varied Scottish food. I went to Fort William and Loch Ness, July in all its splendor, I recommend it. Thank you from Spain. 🙏

What a delight to see my favourite RU-vidr in my country! This is such a wonderful video and I'm so happy to see you here - I hope you had a wonderful stay ! You were wondering what the Firth of Forth was at 11:00. It is a huge body of water marked by 3 famous bridges side-by-side - one of which being the Forth Rail Bridge, which is what you see on your Amenities bag there! That is right where I live, and my grandfather (Papa) painted it red! It connects the County/State of Fife (which is where I live) to Edinburgh. It seems you likely passed over that bridge while you slept, because it appears you actually stopped in Edinburgh (specifically the beautiful historic Edinburgh Waverley Station) at 17:14 , incase you are wondering where you were still - for your next visit I totally recommend taking a day-time train the same way, seeing the Fife Scenery and seeing the Forth! It's the views I've grown up with and I'm still to tire of them. As for your journey for 'terrible British food', well you left Britain (which is actually England, especially when considering the stereotypes of Britain) on that train there, and I feel Scotland falls outside the remit of 'terrible food'. We have an explorative and varied palette, good fish selections, interesting use of herbs and spices, and we are even where a popular curry was created (Tikka Masala)! So you may have found our food 'kinda good' because Scottish food is... kinda good! haha (Also a tip for future - your 'cracker' was actually a Potato ('tattie') Scone, and is savoury and typically not paired with Jam! I would say that particular tattie scone was a bit on the hard side, so I hope your next experience is a bit better! I am curious to try a tattie scone with jam now though, haha) Please consider coming back to Scotland the Visit Edinburgh! We also have a very nice Fife Coastal Line that trains travel around, it takes merely a couple of hours to explore. I would highly recommend going on a Fife Rail Route and see the Coastal Line. I went to Mallaig by train and I slept very nearby the station, illegally, in my tent. I was on an Interrail-ticket. Good memories.

ohh...its that japanese guy doing shinkansen now on scotrail. a pleasure indeed with his professional demo videos. new caledonian is one of the primest railway journey experience in UK, ex euston to far north upto edinburgh waverly and also further till inverness. UK railway has a charm and flavour of its own, caught here in his expert hands. loved it.

The hard "bread" on the train was a potato scone (tattie scone we call it) and your not meant to have jam on it hahaha. It's meant to be soft not hard! Yours was overcooked!
