Smart EQ3 is totally different than Soothe2… Other than that good Video.

@@impulsecontrol Soothe is more a resonance suppressor, while Smart EQ has targets build in for EQing the whole frequency spectrum

So I"m wondering why are drum parts in stereo? Like for example, why is your kick a stereo sample? Drums are mono. But I've seen lots of people using stereo drum samples. This doesn't cause you phase issues at some point?

What makes you say my kick is in stereo? And are you talking about other drums too? Some can be in stereo. Anyway, In the final mix I mono everything below 300hz

Stereo doesn't automatically mean phase issues, phase issues only slip by if you put absolutely zero effort into mono checking your mix. Just check your mix in mono when you've added stereo processes, and make sure nothing detrimental is happening. It's that simple.

@@impulsecontrol What makes me say that? The two waveforms in one clip. Or is that an Ableton UI thing? The waveforms look in phase but if it is stereo it's a bit weird considering a kick drum in a mono instrument (in its analogue form I mean).

@@DrBuffaloBalls Yeah thanks for pointing out the obvious I guess. It isn't that one element in a mix would cause phase issues just by being itself stereo. It's more about the potentiality. More stuff you add in that end of the spectrum more risk you run into phase issues later. And if you have a bunch of stereo information in that end of the spectrum, especially where you would expect only mono signal sources....well you can probably work out the end of that sentence. It is also kind of weird that kick drums are stereo samples. I don't get that. Why would you do that? How do you even create a stereo sample out of a mono element?

Soothe and Serum is becoming, like .... everyone on the internet, "BUY BUY it it "!!!.. While is a nice plug(Soothe) and does and shapes the sound superbly.... when you are on a Budget, an alternative is SILK... it is even free on black Friday, not sure if it hasn't been, and still but I used and does the work... Vital is not a big Brainer is Serum and you can easily make a lot of good sounds like serum... you just need to spend time and have some knowledge of what you are doing!!

I understand Sooth2 is not for everyones budget, so I included other options such as Silk Vocal and Smooth Operetor. For me, Vital is Serum, but with a much friendlier UI 🤨

@@impulsecontrol for 1 is presets. Just click on your saved preset and all the tracks you like referencing instantly load up. 2. You can click sub, bass, mid, highs in one click. Instead of only 1 section highlighted like in Reference. (Yes you can drag them left or right to your needs) There more little nuances that make it the go to AB plugin by the pros. It took me a while to buy just because of the price but trust me brother, you’ll never touch Reference again.

@@impulsecontrol Sure! I learned about the band listen button on Soothe 2 that I had never used before(only the delta button to hear the effect of the plugin). I also got alot out of your specific use-case of pro MB where you compressed the highs then boosted them to make them stand out. My comment about going back to the class room was for the dude hating above.

The title is a bit misleading. It seems that not EVERY producer must have these plugins, as many of the plugins seem to be specific to a certain style of music. An advice would be to change the title to reflect the type of producer you are directing your advice to? This way youtube will not recommend your page to someone like me (that is: someone who will hear your first two tips, realising that the title was misleading and then leave the video, causing you bad retention rates which will make youtube deprioritise promoting your videos in the future)

There’s some truth in what you say, so I did change the title to “Electronic Music Producer”. If you’re an electronic music producer than you’ll most certainly benefit from all the plugins in this video, and even if you not, you’ll find use for most of them.

These tools are not just for electronic production, rather it’s a matter of how you employ them. Just because you can‘t imagine how multiband dynamic processors, eq’s, resonance control, filters, saturation, transient manipulation and samples, etc. would (obviously) fit in the toolbox of producers of any genre, because they aren’t being demonstrated on similar sounds and music that you yourself work with, maybe don‘t project that onto others. Sometimes it takes a bit of extrapolation to understand and then appreciate how something may function in other contexts.
