12 Simple Colored Pencil Techniques 

My teacher told us to watch this. I thought I knew how to use coloured pencils, but these tips are so much better! My technique I call: the art of random.

this is actually nice, you get to see how your colored pencils behave in different techniques

I wouldn't recommend pressing "hard" because that eats your pencil, it's better to press lightly until it turns darker. Patience is the key for color pencils or any medium!

Very good tutorial. I learned a lot on how to use colored pencils on the demo and specifically her way of delivering them. Every word was crystal clear and her voice is just perfect that anyone will follow for sure without getting bored and annoyed. I wish my Teachers from Kindergarten to College are all like her. To top this all, she even reviewed from demo 1 to 12. Excellent! I give her a 🙌.

I noticed you are using a blunt point. Most professional colored pencil artists stress using a very sharp pencil. Also building colors slowly to achieve the darks rather than pressing hard and damaging the paper surface.

I have a question, when you use the eraser, you should apply just a tiny bit of pressure on the color to get the blending effect, right?

any particular reason for not sharpening the pencils? Derwent Superpoint is one great mechanical sharpener that gets these to a really narrow point reliably.

I would like to offer you some constructive criticism, and a way to do it better. I hope you don't mind... I watched your video and took a lot of tips from it. You have many good things to share, I learned a lot which helped me, so I'd like to help you back now. I couldn't and wouldn't want to make a RU-vid video, but you do and it helps share knowledge and wisdom. I see the benefits of the videos. If you don't mind a little advice, I think you could do this one aspect, better... I am new to colouring with pencils, I've been doing it less than a week, but I instinctively achieved layering and blending to get almost the deepest colours with a light touch. Of course I need a little effort to get the best pigment colouring, on the top level, but it isn't nearly so much effort to achieve, as scrubbing the pencil hard on the paper. It will be much easier for you to make a new video, compared to a new pencil lol. Happy colouring... I hope I helped you, thank you for helping me.
