Depression a common mental health condition that affects a large proportion of the population, so it’s important to be aware of and recognize what depression is like. Misconceptions and inaccurate information have contributed to a lot of people misunderstanding what depression is and how it affects people. To raise awareness about depression and reduce the stigma, we'll be shedding light on some of the important things we all should know about depression.
Disclaimer: It is important to note that this video is purely for educational and interest purposes and is not to be used to self-diagnose depression. Actually it's true. Most of the people assume that you are just being lazy or being dramatic. Sometimes I just want to share it with someone who can actually listen to me and understands me unfortunately I don't have any. ☹🙁😕

the worst part is when my parents sees me all sad and crying, I'd tell them why and they reply with "why would you cry?!" or something that's totally opposite of comforting.

Dear friend, I'm sorry to hear that...I understand your pain and I truly hope you get better! Did you know that crying is actually therapeutic? It is PERFECTLY ok to cry! Don't ever fell ashamed to cry! It's helped me in the past, so just know that if anyone ever makes you feel bad about crying...they have *no right to do so* Crying and perfectly normal! Don't worry...keep going! :D

I've taken to crying alone in the corner of me bedroom. Theres no one to judge me and it feels better after. Even when my friends ask me what I'm gonna do over the weekend and me knowing how it always goes replies with "oh,I'll be crying in the corner" They take it as a joke and laugh. Your not alone.

Uhm, I just want to share my story here At first I thought I was just sad but I watch Psych2Go video and it maybe depression because the dark cloud is in my head for a weak, but suddenly I feel fine and happy and I guess I'm okay? But it's only for 4/5 days and suddenly I feel down again and then happy? And sad and now happy again but mostly sad :/ I watch other Psych2Go video about bipolar and I maybe bipolar? But I'm not sure I'm still 14 and I'm really really scared to tell my parents, maybe it's because I have bad memories with them in my childhood.. It's been 2/3 month and i don't know what else to do-

Maybe seeing a therapist, psychologist, or doctor would help. Change of mood could indicate that you’re bipolar, but I don’t know, I’m not professional/certified. It’s best to find out if you have depression/bipolar/anything if you check with a doctor. Good luck to you, have a Merry Christmas! 😅☺️

Depression is when you try everything to not to attempt suicide cuz the pain is so much. And it's not so easy to overcome depression,like you said.So,I guess it's not depression. You are only having a sad day cuz maybe you keep remembering your bad memories. Maybe talking to your best friend would help . :)

The damaged cells release chemicals including histamine, bradykinin, and prostaglandins. These chemicals cause blood vessels to leak fluid into the tissues, causing swelling.

Time traveler here, if you are going through a tough time especially in this time, it is really important that you get help! There are always people that will be there for you even if you don’t see them. It won’t hurt you if you do get help. People won’t judge you if you get help, chances are they are going through something similar right now. Every life is a precious one, so don’t let it yours go to waste!

all that you say may be true, but what use is all this knowledge about depression when there are so few therapy places? or the prejudices about it are not eliminated. one more thing, in my experience you dont think about self-harm, the body just does it, and sometimes you cant do anything about it. So there too, dont judge anyone if possible. The problem is, depression is treatable, but unfortunately not curable, as with cancer patients it can break out again and again in life. Months or years may pass, if you are lucky there pass decades, but that doesnt change the fact that you are back at the beginning of the next depressive phase and again lose many acquaintances that you have established because they dont know something like that and dont know how to do it should handle. Seen in this way, those who have had a longer "normal" phase and then have another depressive episode are hit hardest. Nobody chooses suicidal thoughts either, they just arise in your head, in front of your inner eye, and some people could overreact to that when you talk about them, or they get it completely wrong...

You can change your psychiatrist, or change the medicine you are currently taking. Because every anti depression medicine is not working for everyone and it doesn't mean you can't recover it.

I’m diagnosed with depression and anxiety, it runs in my family. I get overwhelmed over a lot of things that most people would just brush off and get done and not worry about (ie: talking to adults, asking for help, cleaning my room, taking care of myself, noises hurt me, being in a bad mood all day) most people think I’m just being over dramatic or doing it on purpose. I don’t mean to be like this and I’m trying to get better, it’s just not something that can just poof out of my life. It’ll always be there. I just need to learn how to manage things... I just kinda need to say something about this since I don’t have any active friends I can talk to about this. A year ago, I was feeling more sad than usual and was unknowingly doing self harm. I cant describe the feeling but I felt alone and useless, I was questioning my existence and was thinking stuff like “you don’t deserve happiness” and “you deserve all the pain you’ve gotten”. I told my friend that I was feeling sad and was questioning if I had depression. They said something like “oh, let’s take a depression quiz then”. We got on a call together and they pulled up a depression quiz on Google. They told me to answer the questions and I answered honestly, wen the quiz results came, it said “little to no depression”. Ever since then, i’ve feared opening up about my problems, fearing that will happen again. I haven’t told anyone about this, and I wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for reading. (PS. sorry for any grammar mistakes i don’t usually use grammar or capitals)

👍Major depression is most likely to affect people between the ages of 45 and 65. “People in middle age are at the top of the bell curve for depression, but the people at each end of the curve, the very young and very old, may be at higher risk for severe depression

I would give advice on how to get through the pain but I don't really know because I am still dealing with it myself because I never had anyone I could trust cause after I tried telling my mom about it she didn't believe me. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Change happens from within by itself. I've been struggling for years now- I've even been diagnosed by a doctor multiple times- no one will listen because I'm just a moody teen girl, right? I'm faking it for attention. I just need to try harder. I get bullied by my family for being "too slow" or "moody" because of the distorted thoughts and irritability that come with depression. It's all there, but no one will see. I'm suffering. If you're struggling too just remember you aren't alone, we're gonna get through this.

“Depression is treatable, and isn’t a choice” Depression can be treated and some medicine can help, but not all. Depression isn’t a choice…..people need to know this….mostly because our parents don’t understand we can’t choice if we’re depressed or not. Yes we may have good days and are smiling, but that doesn’t mean we’re cured, or don’t have depression. So if we’re having a good day, please don’t say “oh your cured?” It makes us think that you think depression can go away easily, and may discourage us from telling you anything else……another thing is, if you think depression is a choice and tell us that we can just choose to be happy or be sad and depressed. It may make us worse…..so please…..don’t say depression is a choice. Edit: Some people don’t think depression is a mental illness. But it has to do with a chemical imbalance in our brain.

1. Feeling sad all the time does not necessarily mean Depression. Do more research, and see if you really think you have it. However, be careful to not self-diagnose, or subconsciously try to have it. The human brain is powerful, it's ability to empathize can cause you to truly develop mental illnesses. So be careful. 2. Even if you realize you do not have depression, it's a good idea to keep following the instructions below. 3. If you think you may have depression after doing research, show them research from reliable sources about teen depression. If you realize you do not have depression, if you still would like to see a therapist anyway, show them research (again, from reliable sources) that therapy is great for everyone and that everyone should see a therapist. 4. If your parents still won't budge, do research on how to get parents to let you see a therapist. 5. If your parents agree to let you see a therapist, that's great! If they won't budge no matter what you do, then continue... 6. If your school has a counselor, they could be your therapist. 7. Raise enough money to pay for it yourself. There are lots of people who would donate money to you so you can get the help you need. If this is what your parents are concerned about, that should help. 8. Try to find an online therapist. Hopefully this helps!

i’ve finally reached out for help :) i tried to tell my doctor all my symptoms but i could only get as far as anxiety, because my dad and little brother were staring at me and i didn’t want to scare them. i got a list of therapist, and my mom is plannng to give a call after the holidays. i feel like crap for not being able to be completely honest with my parents but my friends have been telling me that reaching out in the first place is great and that im doing great. im grateful for everyone, and this channel.

i can honestly relate to some of these facts. sometimes i stay in my room for days on end and don't even come out to eat unless my parents call me out to eat. i don't even feel hungry at times and don't drink water either. my sleep schedule has been wacked and i honestly don't know if it's just quarantine and online school or if it's depression and anxiety. i don't do self care and don't even remember if i used to do self care. i'm way too lazy to get out of bed and honestly just spend hours lying on my bed and spending time on my phone. *way too much time* it's exhausting honestly but i can't seem to stop. i feel as if i should get a diagnosis but i'm afraid that my parents will invalidate me if i do. they say they understand me but i don't think that they do. every time i smile, they ask why i'm smiling probably because i don't smile that much. i can remember the last time i smiled but i don't really find joy in the things i used to enjoy like puzzles and reading books. writing also bores me because i have no interest and low muse. i've been having low muse for a while now and it's been bothering me a lot. the only thing that really interests me these days is editing and i can't even find the motivation to do that. it honestly feels like someone has drained all the fun out of me. i can't tell my parents because they'll most likely invalidate me (even though i'm eighteen). i often skip showers and forget to do little things like brush my teeth and wash/dry my clothes... sometimes i even loose track of time because i'm too busy distracting myself that i involuntarily skip meals. i'm getting to the point where i'm starting to become anorexic but i still never feel hungry or thirsty for some reason. my room is a mess; my clothes are a mess; my sleeping schedule is a mess. i don't even get a consistent amount of sleep because i know for a fact that some nights i sleep at around the same time but sometimes i wake up earlier or later than the night before. like on wednesday, i slept at 3am and woke up at around 12pm and today i slept at 3am but woke up at around 10am. i can also never turn things in on time and always seem to procrastinate. i never seemed to care about my grades and don't make the effort to do better because i don't really see the point. doing homework feels like a chore to me and nothing is really fun anymore. i just stay in my room on my phone and watching youtube videos because those are the things that really bring me joy.

I am young and I can only seek help from my parents, but everytime I vent to them, they just scold me back and never sees my emotions is a problem and together with other causes my parents slowly gave me depression. My parents will scold me if I try online counselling because they think I have no problem, when they themselves caused the problem.

Ryu - The Darkening - HIT ME Always Works. Ryu - The Darkening - I Do Not Hit. It Hits All By Itself. Ryu - The Darkening - Everyone And Everything Has This HIT ME Side In It. Ryu - The Darkening - The Red Bands (The red bands are bands I am holding on, to transfer the verbal or physical hits from someone or something into my hands. For when I cannot use the words in a direct "HIT ME" experience. Those are bands I am wearing around my forehead and my wrists. They help me deal and heal with the hits.) It helped me making peace with all of that. Through practices of any kind. I have learned to love my trauma, my illness, my feelings, my thoughts, my conflicts, my life and ultimately my suffering. The hits are a fact of life and the key to enlightenment. A hit affects you, internally or superficially. Everyone and everything has this "HIT ME" side in it. And if you set your life expectation to "HIT ME", it always works and you will never be disappointed that way. Because something always hits you. Even if you don't want to be hit by something, it still hits you. Hence, it still works as a life expectation. It even works when positive things hit you. Like soft raindrops or a soap bubble. Same as joy or bliss. Hit me all the way, in any way, anyway. If you devote yourself to such an idea, you decipher the path to enlightenment. This is a good reason to follow the path of loving our suffering as it brings great benefit to one. From ourselves, when we don't want to be hit and don't want to take in the hits, to the desire to be hit and take in the hits. It always works, regardless of the form. As Bruce Lee said: "Be unconsciously conscious or consciously unconscious". Once one has developed a certain level of this practice, one masters the suffering and becomes truly enlightened. I am quoting Bruce Lee again: "I do not hit. It hits all by itself." The Way Out Of The Abyss Only when we can accept what we want to let go, can we let go of what we want to accept. A peaceful mind is the cure for restlessness. And love is the cure for a broken spirit. Pain is strength in disguise waiting, to be revealed. And It takes a lot of strength to cry. Because when we cry, we open up to the pain that we experience. When all the waves come crashing down on you, there is faith to get you through. Express your belief into reality and believe in it. This is how you get through the waves. We make mistakes, because we are not perfect. And for that fact I am grateful, that I make mistakes. Remember the solution to any problem is the problem itself. It came into existence and it will not leave you. A sacrifice for love, is a sacrifice worth dying for. We don't have to undo what we do wrong in this life. We die for it and thus, sacrifice ourselves for love. So live for the truth and die for the lie. Die for your negative qualities and live for your positive qualities. That is the sacrifice and the salvation of the human spirit. The guilt we feel is that, which enslaves us. Only when we also remember our innocence, are we free at the same time. There is nothing in this universe, that can harm a mad person. Except making the mad person even more insane, through harm. When you are ready to take in all the hits, in order to gain strength from it and at the same time you are ready to pass on all the love out of compassion to others; one will be as strong as a demon and as compassionate as an angel. A demonic angel. A victory is achieved, by resolving the battles within. If you give up fighting yourself and instead start absorbing yourself, you will be invincible. When you change the powers that hold you back, into the powers that hold your back, you will be unstoppable. You are an example of what a human being is capable of. Take in the hits and use them, as fuel for Ascension. The greatest bliss is found when you make peace with your suffering. Because suffering is the root of blissfulness. If you love your suffering, blissfulness arises. And blissfulness is the key, to heaven on earth. If you can defeat yourself, by loving yourself, your fears, your pain and ultimately your suffering; then it will transform you and you will be reborn. In order to overcome suffering, one has to become suffering oneself. Because when you are one with all, you are bound by nothing and therefore free from everything. And through becoming one with suffering you master it. The journey to enlightenment is a process, that involves a lot of suffering. But in the end every moment of suffering will be worth it. Because choosing to suffer consciously is the springboard, to enlightenment. That's how you remember your origin and you begin to embody it. Because where there is suffering, the love spark resides and the fire is kindled where God, or Consciousness enters and spreads out. Become Ryu, the dragon. Become suffering. Be in a relationship with HIT ME from sadness to madness and become HIT ME and the hits yourself. And Ryu, the dragon spreads its wings and rises. Thus he finds the way out of the abyss.

I'm a 11 year old child who has just started high school in december. It feels like there is some sort of shadow in my mind all of the time and it is always there but sometimes it's more noticeable. I have had suicidal thoughts many times. My parents are amazing. I dont get seriously bullied,nothing bad really happens. When I really don't want to do something my mum does tell me that I'm using my mental health as an excuse.( I mainly dont want to do things in the evening and it gets worse in the evening). I dont know if I'm overreacting? or what is wrong with me? Although in the new year at some point I will be seeing a mental health professional. I just want the shadow gone.i can't do anything properly. Does anyone else have this?

Me ( depressed): *can't focus and can't get my school work done, even though I'm really trying to and I hate myself for being practically unable to do it* My mom( knows I'm depressed): Well it's your *choice* when you get problems at school, because you're to *lazy* to do your work I know my mom is trying to help and support me but that was just one of the many things she said to me, which shows that she doesn't understand it. I'm not lazy, I'm really trying. And no it's not my choice, to have that huge problems in focusing. And even though I know that I still hate myself for it

So I actually left my room twice today. First to get water, and then to eat lunch. I said hi to two people and sent one text message. I opened a window, so I've gotten fresh air (yay). I tried to play video games, but I got tired of it. I watched some TV and then I brushed my hair. Oh, and I also cried. A lot. I didn't go to school, or outside at all. I didn't do my homework. I wasn't social. I didn't take a shower. But that's ok. Tomorrow's a new day.

Hello! Stranger, we might not know each other but trust me if you are going through depression let's talk it out. Sometimes we just want someone by our side who can listen to us, comfort us and can understand our feelings. So, if you ever feel you are alone always remember there is a girl on the internet who will be always there to patiently listen to your problems. Virtual hugs to all my buddies who need it. I am so vary happy i get to be the 1,000 like on this vid, i had depression for about 10 years and tried to kill myself 3 times. Thankfully I’m past that now, and im glade to be a part of this.

When cry people just think that having drama again...at the end just say that “you are too concentrate on yourself”...”stop looking at yourself”.. but no one know how the pain accumulated through out the year without knowing that it need time to recover..they just stab nonstop with word and pretend they are the victim...

@Psych2go Hey so I’m not to sure if I do have this mental condition but it’s called aphastasia Ik you guys have done a video on it before and I greatly appreciate it! I’m still living a young age but I am unsure If aphastasia can be shown at a young age. Oh and one more thing I was wondering if I could get any tips or questions asked during this topic and just to get a better idea on what aphastasia means and what are some symptoms or something like that.
